I'm a sucker for guys with long hair and butch girls. I spend most of my life acting like a complete child. One day, I want to move to New York and join a band and travel the world. Or maybe be tour manager for Foo Fighters. I know everything there is to know about Bon Jovi. I love when a band or a song unites the whole audience and everyone's singing and everyone has this amazing connection. And the way a musician or a band can make 10,000 people shut up and listen with just one note. It's the most incredible feeling.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: I would like to stay within the US for now. (Poor college kid here, heh)
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. “food/candy with nuts”) Dead things. So. Not. Cool. Illegal stuff, things that would make me or you wanna throw up.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: You can send me whatever you'd like except things from the "things I would NOT like to receive" question. I'm not picky, but anything cute/quirky/keepsakes/mixed cds/ books/postcards are always winners. And letters are just awesome.
Anything else you’d like to add?: Yeah, I'm looking for someone who is open-minded, awesome, has similar interests (or totally different ones), someone who likes to keep in touch and not just do this for a one time thing, one who wants to get to know me more, share inside jokes/stories, someone who would like to exchange little gifts, someone fun who doesn't always have to send a letter, it can be a postcard or a picture, someone who can get creative and making the whole penpal experience even more fun than it is. Someone like you :)
This is me :)
Location: Home is Plymouth in the UK, term time is Bristol.
How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Names are odd. I'm female. I like being female. I like people. I do not mind what shell they are in.
Interests/hobbies: I'm reading English Literature at university, so, reading. Music takes up too much of my money. Gigs - I like the feeling that everyone is there for the same reason. My horse, Jacob, he is my bestest BFG. I play the drums mostly, I have other musical skills. I like drinking coffee and watching people. I like cooking mostly because I like feeding people - not in a creepy way.
Favourite books: I love a lot of books but The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chobsky is my favourite.
Favourite films: The Nightmare Before Christmas since I was five. I like peculiar films. I like pretentious arty films. I like world cinema.
Favourite music: I would have to say that Muse are my favourite band - I've seen them 54 times so far - but I'm not that person with a favourite band who only listens to that band. I have more CDs than I can fit in my room, I have a loft full of vinyl and my iPod is full. The rest of my musical loving is on a plateau of wonder - Radiohead, The Smiths, The Beatles, Placebo, Chem, Alkaline Trio and the list goes on and on.
What would you like to send/receive?: I love post! I mean proper post that is delivered by the postman post, so letters. I like surprises, nice ones.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone and everyone.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") Hells no, post me anything.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: Some kind of mix CD made with me in mind, an interesting newspaper clipping, perhaps a book that is worth a read and I'd like for it to smell nice.
Anything else you'd like to add?: Nada.
I don't often hang out with inflatable condoms but when in Amsterdam...
Rabbit in Chinese astrology.
How do you identify?:
A gentleman. Androgyne, very much in to male aesthetics anyway. Born female but never really felt like one (on the other hand how should a female feel like, then? I don't know). Like to dress in old-fashioned men's clothing. I guess I'm something in between. I have reached the state of mind where I just feel like a unique entity without any labels whatsoever. Mostly drawn to men and manly/androgyne women, but I don't think genders matter that much - I love everyone beautiful and inspiring. I'm generally not very interested in sex.
Travelling, hiking, solitude, silence, steam engines, film cameras, classic cars, seaweed, mysticism, found objects, tea-drinking, random activism; Swimming in the lake, making firewood, learning new things, combing through fleamarkets and antique fairs; All sorts of things. I'm a bookbinder and an exceptionally lousy painter. I wish I had more energy to paint, I still have dozens of unfinished boards from 2007 or 2008. Sometimes I just can't get myself together. Drawing, painting, arts and crafts are all part of my everyday life. Things I really need to learn: Welding, woodworking, rare languages, how to use a chainsaw.
( more, more )
Location: Baltimore, MD
How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Pansexual Female.
Interests/hobbies: I love psychology and answering/asking questions. I'm a girly-girl, so I love dressing up, eyeshadow, mascara, make up of any kind. I love to bake cupcakes, paint, take pictures, play with hair, laugh, and sing. I won't lie to you, I'm not always nice - I insult people like it's going out of style - but who is always genuinely nice these days? I'm not afraid to tell you what I think, and I like to play the devil's advocate. I write because it's my passion and I strive to learn something new, everyday. Even though I have my mean tendencies, I like to think I have a big heart. There's so much I care about, I have so much love, and I'd like to share it with you.
Favourite books: Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras by Scott Westerfeld. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. The Twilight Series (Yes, I am serious. I'm a hopeless romantic). I absolutely ADORE books, so I have tons of favorites that would take me too long to write. I'm always open to suggestions, however. :)
Favourite films: I love little kid movies. Alice In Wonderland (the original. Don't even get me started on the remake) is probably my absolute favorite movie. The Shining, Step Up 1-3, Final Destination 1-4, Save The Last Dance. I don't like: LOTR, Harry Potter, The Breakfast Club, The Goonies, or Forest Gump.
Favourite music: I love classical music (Tchaikovsky <3), The Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, The Temptations, Gym Class Heroes, Travie McCoy, you name it and I'll tell you if I like them.
What would you like to send/receive?: I'm big on letters and cards (birthday or holiday, or just random cards). But if letters are not your thing, I can do email, too. Pick your poison.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Well, I'm only 16, so keep that in mind. The highest I'd feel comfortable going is about 19.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anyone! International mail is surprisingly cheap (my letter to Italy only cost me 98 cents!) But, once again, if international mail isn't so cheap for you, I have an email address.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts"): I'm not big on food in the mail or things that will get me in trouble with the law. Remember, I'm only 16.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: Letters, cards, pictures, cd's, dried flowers, drawings, stories, poems, something bright and colorful, anything you think will get me to know you better.
I'm looking for life long friends. If you have commitment issues, then I'm probably not the girl to talk to. And I am in school, so it might take me a day or two to send the letter back. But don't fear, I will always reply. I can write and read a bit of French (I'm a beginner), but I'd prefer English. Let me know if you're interested! :)
How do you identify?: Lesbian
Interests/hobbies: I take to a fiddle now and then but I'd hardly call it playing. I like hiking, kayaking, tabletop RPGs, some computer games, getting lost in the forest, studying language and assorted other things (helpful and less than-), working at the local library, feeding the neighborhood cats and tending to my tiny garden.
About me: I read to a fault, I'm one of those people who reads while they're walking or watching something or waiting in line. I love to read fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, anthropology, instruction manuals or whatever I find laying about. I think baking with the right person can be sexy and adventurous. I can be embarrassingly easy-going because I believe there is a subtle grace to the way that things unfold and I love to see where life takes me. This may all makes me sound very adventurous but in fact I'm pretty passive. I would prefer pomegranate tea and a good book near the window to the outside world any day.
Favorite books: This question is just too hard!
Favourite films: I really enjoy low-budget, corny movies - especially thrillers. I really like to watch documentaries, old noir and black and whites.
Favorite music: I'll listen to almost anything. I love global music. I'm not a big fan of rap or some country-western. Right now I'm really enjoying "gypsy punk", jazz fusion and old southern spirituals.
What would you like to send/receive?: I'm open to anything. I'd love to share seeds or recipes, puzzles, mix CDs, collages, sketches or knitting. I would really love to make friends with whom I could exchange stories in letter form.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: I'd love to hear from anyone who feels like writing.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Any and all.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: I'm pretty open...I would prefer that the outside of the mailing be discreet, as I live in a conservative area and it's not entirely safe to share my identity here.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: I would love to have a regular pen pal with whom I could exchange riddles. I have a lot of spare time in which I create cryptograms. If this sounds way too geeky for you I completely understand.
Picture (optional): I'm not completely comfortable with sharing my identity here due to aforementioned conserve small town living.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I've been watching this community and I think the idea is wonderful. It would be nice to forge friendships with others nearby or far away. It's amazing to think that perhaps by sharing our lives with internet strangers we can all be a little less isolated.

All you got to do is reply to this thread some time this week and say whether you'd like make/receive a mix-TAPE (as in cassette tape) or a mix-CD (as in CD-R).
Next week - I'll aim to leave it up for 7 days, so probably sometime around the 6th July - I will pair everybody up RANDOMLY and post the pairings. Find your partner, PM them, swap addresses and make/send eachother your mixes.
Why not add in a letter? Or decorate the mix artwork? Or send some extra little goodies to introduce yourself?
1) This is a WORLDWIDE trade. If you sign up then please be aware that you might be paired with somebody on the other side of the planet. If this is a problem then please don't sign up - why not find somebody closer to you and then PM them directly and suggest a private trade? I used to organise these trades regularly and pairing people who would only mail to certain countries got too complicated so I'm scrapping it.
2) Please only sign up if you can fulfill your promise. Make sure you can afford postage, have the equipment and ability to make/send your mix, make sure you have a little time to spare next week.
3) Please include a tracklisting. So annoying finding great new music but not knowing what/who it is!
4) Be aware that you could be paired with ANYBODY, wherever in the world, whatever age/gender/sexuality. I will pretty much pair-up people entirely randomly - except will aim to pair tape people with tape people, and CD people with CD people. If you want to trade with somebody in particular, just message them directly! We're all here to make friends! :)
This is just a nice way to make friends, find some new music, receive something nice in the mail. Don't be shy :)

Favourite music: I love country and most Top 40 songs and have a strong affinity for the music of the 1950s/60s. It isn't so much about the artist but about the song; I'm a fan of songs and if I find an artist with a lot of songs I like then that's awesome. Love Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Pink, Frank Sinatra, The Temptations, The Supremes, and some Bob Dylan.

How do you identify?: I am really uncomfortable with labels. I don't feel particularly drawn to any sexuality/gender labels, specifically, but I'm repelled from others. I love "queer," let's leave it at that.
Interests/hobbies: Procrastinating, reading (specifically experimental genres, magical realism, poetry,) art (modern, specifically dada/surrealist/conceptual), avoiding being creative, making mixed cds/tapes, listening to music and dancing around by myself, live shows, taking baths, lighting candles n a non-neo-pagan way, feminism, gender/queer studies, riot grrrl, countercultures, subcultures, sociology, anthropology, folklore, fairy tales, social politics, gossip, junk food, secrets
Favourite books: My first and most important label, before human, is bookworm. Some important authors to me are Alice Hoffman, Francesca Lia Block, June Jordan, Charles Bukowski, Daphne Gottlieb, and Edward Albee. There are always more.
Favourite films: I am intrigued by Todd Solondz films. Otherwise, my personal film collection looks like it's owned by a male, gay, art, drug addicted snob. Take that for what you will.
Favourite music: I will be that douchebag who says that my music transcends boundaries... except it does. I have interests in all genre, but I am particularly intrigued by anything angry, loud, experimental, or from the first half of the nineties... let's talk blind melon and bikini kill.
What would you like to send/receive?: First I'd like to get to know you online, for a while. Than I'm open; I'd prefer commitment to long letters. Mixed cds are always loved.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: I'd like to meet people interested in queer politics/gender queer exsistence. While anyone is welcome, I love radicals.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to? Let's stick to America.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Not particularly.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: A long, rambling letter from a friend written on interesting paper. A mixed cd/tape is a must, the more the better. Zines. Books. Artwork.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I feel disconnected from the queer community, and I feel invisible/underrepresented/empty. Help me fix that!
Location: Idaho, USA
How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Officially, I have no sexuality. I took a vow of celibacy 8 months ago. But prior to that I was pretty flagrantly bisexual. And by that, I mean I like what I like, and what ever's between the legs is fine by me. I'm male, but the inner gay man likes to escape now and again. Actually I am FTM, but far enough along in my transition, I rarely have to say that outloud any more.
Interests/hobbies: Dogs and Horses. I make a living training dogs and horses. So they take up the primary amount of my focus. I studied English (creative writing) in college, and fancy myself something of an author, but hesitate on being published because I am an oddity like that. I live and breathe music, including performing at a bar on sunday nights. I read a lot. I am into biking, swimming, hiking, camping, and any sport that could potentially kill me. I played baseball growing up, and am a first degree blackbelt. I do most of the repairs on my ancient and decrepit but beloved truck myself. I am a hardcore geek at heart. I role play, I show up to movie premieres in costume, and I'm unapologetic about it. And I do karaoke a couple of nights a week with my band, because I'm that kind of nerd. I also collect antique books.
Favourite books: Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (James Joyce), Picture of Dorian Grey
(Oscar Wilde), The Dresden Files (Jim Butcher), The Crucible (Arthur Miller), The Courtship of Princess Leia (David Wolverton...yes I am a star wars junkie). Out of Sight (Elmore Leonard), Lonesome Dove (Larry McMurty), About a Boy (Nicolas Hornby), and anything by Hemmingway.
Favourite films: This will be a long list.Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, Rebel with out a Cause, Star Wars (episodes IV through VI), Star Trek IV, Blade Trinity, Shawshank Redemption, 500 Days of Summer, Lethal Weapon 3, Terminator, Terminator 2, Stargate, John Carptener's Vampires (I kind of have this thing for bad vampire movies...), Lost Boys, Ocean's 11 (original and the remake), Serenity.Butch Cassidey and the Sundance Kid. And musicals. I love music, so naturally I love musicals. Newsies, RENT, West Side Story, and Sound of Music are amongst my favorites.
Favorite TV shows: (I'm adding this, because I love tv. A lot. It's probably my favorite medium). The X Files (it goes first because it was the single greatest thing to ever grace the airwaves), Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Profiler, Stargate (SG1 and Atlantis), Supernatural, Castle, GLEE, Sliders, Torchwood, Burn Notice, Pysch, the Big Bang Theory, Star Trek (TNG mostly, but I watched them all)...thank the gods for DVR, right?
Favourite music: I'll just list a couple, because when it comes to music I have only one philosophy: if it's good, I'll listen to it. But my favorites include: Bad Religion, Green Day, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin (best bad ever), The Beatles, the Doors, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Garth Brooks, Broadway Classics (especially music from Miss Saigon and Les Mis). Sex Pistoles, The Ramones, and Hair bands. Mostly it's classic rock, with a sprinkling of whatever the hell else I find during a youtube crawl.
What would you like to send/receive?: Anything really. I'm open to all kinds of new expierences and things. Though I gotta say someone who could turn me on to new books and music and movies would be awesome. And I like letters. There is something very satisfying about opening the mailbox and there being a letter there (amongst all the bills) just for you. I like hand written, or typed, and I say that with the notion in mind that my handwriting is virtually a foreign language. So if you go that route with me, consider this fair warning.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone. Any where. Any time. Bring it on.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anyone. Anywhere.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") I'm allergic to soy and mustard seed. SO yeah that wouldn't be really usable for me. Also, I am willing to discuss religious philosophy, but conversion tactics aren't appreciated. Otherwise, bring it on!
What would be in your dream letter or package?: Hand written letter, or letters depending on how often one is sending such things. Something that would have taken time to construct, and shows thought and effort. And mix CDs of new music from all over the place. Maybe other writer's works just for fun.
Anything else you'd like to add?: Not really. I'm pretty approachble, or I try to be. I think I'm fun, or at least I'm told I am by those who insist on calling me friend. I'm part old school cowboy, part punk rock revolutionary, and a significantly committed daredevil. I also practically never sleep.
Picture (optional): There's one in the icon thingee, but I'll share more as I get to know folk.
How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Cis female, not very femme though. I guess I'm pansexual, although I'm not overly fond of the term.
Interests/hobbies: Books, fanfiction, bunny hopping (it's like showjumping but with bunnies and no riders), feminism, My Little Ponies (customising and collecting), riding whenever I can, which is sadly not often. Photography. I knit simple projects when the fancy strikes me, too. I'm also expert at making unsuspecting houseplants die for no reason.
Favourite books: I'm afraid too numerous to list... I like Terry Pratchett, Stephen Fry, Ben Elton, Oscar Wilde, Torey Hayden, Audrey Niffenegger, Harry Potters, anything that strikes my fancy. I read a lot of comic strips too. Not really comic books, although I do like Strangers In Paradise and Preacher.
Favourite films: Hannah Free, Star Treks, Pan's Labyrinth, Velvet Goldmine, Hedwig And The Angry Inch, Wilby Wonderful, Calendar Girls, Whole New Thing, All The Queen's Men, But I'm A Cheerleader, Nightmare Before Christmas, Pan's Labyrinth, the Hellboy movies, and I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting a ton. I watch a lot of movies, preferably women- or queer-centric. I'm open for recs!
TV: The aforementioned Star Trek, Due South, Queer As Folk, Crossing Jordan,
The Big Bang Theory, Buffy, Kyo Kara Maoh... My fav as a kid was the 90's remake of Dark Shadows.
Favourite music: Punk-pop such as Bowling For Soup and Nerf Herder, ABBA, Beatles, Beautiful South, Pet Shop Boys, David Bowie, Pulp, Meatloaf and some Finnish performers.
What would you like to send/receive?: I'm open to anything from e- to snail mail. No instant messaging though, I'm too old for that ;) Postcards would be great too, and small packages. I can be a bit slow, but I hope it just means I want to put thought into what I send :)
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone who's willing to exchange thoughts with me.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: All around the globe. I'm fluent in English and Finnish, and can write a bit of Swedish. If by some strange coincidence you were studying Finnish, I'm willing to help with that :)
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") Nothing that won't survive the inevitable few days trip to here, and nothing you had to kill before mailing. No pornography unless discussed beforehand. I'd be most likely sending packages that fit through a letterbox, so I definitely won't expect anything bigger from you.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: Anything sent with care and thought. Postcards, teabags, a quick note in e-mail about your day. Photos.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I have terminal shyness which tends to be less obvious in written word, but I'm very willing to share my thoughts and hear yours. I aspire to be open and honest, because I feel that's the path to greater understanding. And I love Eddie Izzard's work with fiery passion.
