How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Queer female. (I like girls and boys and everyone else pretty much equally, which is to say sometimes I do not like anyone much at all)
Interests/hobbies: Books, writing (hey, it's livejournal - if I don't put it in here, they probably have a script that will insert it for me), oil pastels, comics (American and otherwise), many different forms of dance, learning stuff, politics and political theory, martial arts, street theater, in jokes, overly and underly pretentious people, fencing, hat tricks - dirty and otherwise
Favourite books: I work in a bookstore, so this list changes every day depending on what I've just come across. Stuff that consistently ranks high includes: The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao; the entire canons of Terry Pratchett, China Mieville, P.G. Wodehouse; thought-provoking social sci-fi, like On Wings of Song, China Mountain Zhang and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress; the entire Miles Vorkosigan series; quality YA books like The Hunger Games and Diana Wynne Jones's books, and fluffy fantasy like Mercedes Lackey and Trudi Canavan. Oh, and Twilight. I hate to admit it, but I read it and had so much fun writing insulting comments about the characters and the plot and the writing and the mindset behind it all that whenever I feel down, I pull those books out and add some more vitriol.
Okay, I really like books. Even the ones I hate, I like.
Favourite films: Seven Samurai, Good Night, and Good Luck), even numbered Star Trek, Star Wars, Moon, O Brother Where Art Thou, A Man for All Seasons. I usually watch art house films (the ones with plots) instead of blockbusters.
Favorite TV shows (because everyone else seems to be doing it and I don't want to miss out on a trend): Star Trek: TNG, Doctor Who (classic and new - and again, it's LJ. If I don't say it, you won't think I'm real), Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies, Burn Notice, Psych, Avatar: the Last Airbender, The West Wing, Jeeves and Wooster, Daria.
Favourite music: The Decemberists, David Bowie, Bach, Leonard Cohen, Murder by Death, HUMANWINE, Emilie Autumn, Johnny Cash, the Dresden Dolls, Frank Turner, and lately I've started getting really into Tom Waits.
What would you like to send/receive?: Letters, postcards, random care packages, books, pictures of your mom, emails, whatever. I'm not very good at IMing these days, though. I tend to wander off in search of food halfway through the conversation and then remember about that IM window two hours later.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone! Except creepy stalkers who are going to kill me and/or hyper-intelligent zombies who are trying to get me to let my guard down so they can come after my brain. Everyone else is cool.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere, but I'm only really fluent these days in English.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") As per the example, nothing with nuts enters mi casa. Otherwise, just don't be creepy.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: Something awesome about someone or someplace else. A setlist from an awesome band you just saw; a picture of the park by your house that you like to go and chill in; the story of how your friend got that totally stupid nickname.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I'm sure your mom is a very nice person who doesn't deserve the shit I'm going to say about her, but if you can't deal with my bad jokes about her, we're going nowhere fast.
