(no subject)
Name: James
Age: 20
Location: I'm currently in Lima, PerĂº, but I'll be back in Cambridge, Massachusetts come August.
How do you identify?: Cisgender gay man
Interests/hobbies: I study socio-cultural anthropology at school, so I'm into anything that has to do with political economy, imperialism, neocolonialism, governmentality, globalization, hermeneutics, third-wave feminism, political ecology, ethnography, hegemony, etc. I'm also interested in social justice/oppression/axes of identity.
Favourite books: A lot of non-fiction:
Allah Made Us by Rudolf Gaudio, The Church of Women by Dorothy Hodgson, Nisa: The Life and Words of a !Kung Woman by Marjorie Shostak, Hustling is not Stealing by John Chernoff, Remotely Global by Charles Piot, Contagious Divides by Nayan Shah, Monique and the Mango Rains by Kris Holloway, Veiled Sentiments by Lila Abu-Lughod, The Anti-Politics Machine by James Ferguson, Spirits of Resistance & Capitalist Discipline by Aihwa Ong, Africa Since 1940 by Frederick Cooper, What Women Do in Wartime edited by Meredith Turshen & Clotilde Twagiramariya, Global Divas by Martin Manalansan, The Ethical Slut by Easton Liszt, The Revolution Will Not Be Funded edited by INCITE!, The Value of Nothing by Raj Patel, Transgender History by Susan Stryker, etc.
And some non-fiction:
The Cherry Orchard, The Catcher in the Rye, The Jungle, Macbeth, El hablador, Los pasos perdidos, El coronel no tiene quien le escriba
Favourite films: Paris is Burning, Capitalism: A Love Story, In Debt We Trust, Death Becomes Her, Heathers...yeah, not too much film-watching over here.
Favourite music: Mariah Carey, Alanis Morissette, Paul Simon, Carly Simon, La Oreja De Van Gogh
What would you like to send/receive?: Cute/old-fashioned letters, typed or hand-written. Something more than superficial.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: I would prefer exchanging mail with people over 18. All sexes, genders, sexualities are cool. I speak and write Spanish pretty fluently, so if anyone wants to practice with me, that would be cool too. Also I need to learn French for study abroad next year, so someone should teach me via mail. :P
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere! I'd love to learn about people's experiences around the world.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Naked pictures.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: Something actually interesting.

NO BEARD! Sporting one currently, though.
