Hey!

Name: Danielle

Age: 23

Location: Western Massachusetts

How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) I’d consider myself a lesbian, though I am of the belief that sexuality lies within a continuum. I’d say maybe I’m a 98%...;)

Interests/hobbies: I am an avid reader and writer. I write mostly fan fiction of various fandoms. I am a huge movie and television buff. I love beautiful women, yoga, knitting, walking in the cemetery, practicing random acts of kindness, making friendship bracelets, sending snail mail to my friends just to say hello, spending time with my friends, and eating cupcakes.

Favourite books: “The Hours” by Michael Cunningham is without a doubt my favorite book; it has had a considerable impact on my life. I love the Harry Potter series, anything by Jane Austen, the “Wideacre” trilogy by Philippa Gregory (as well as anything else she’s written), “Life Mask” by Emma Donoghue, “By Myself and Then Some” by Lauren Bacall, “The End of the Affair” by Graham Greene, any book by Sarah Waters (especially “Affinity”), “The Awakening” by Kate Chopin, anything by Virginia Woolf (my hero…), and many more than I am probably forgetting.

Favourite films: Anything with Meryl Streep (especially “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Bridges of Madison County” and “The Hours”), anything with Catherine Deneuve (especially “Belle de Jour” and “The Hunger”), “Gone With the Wind,” “Rent,” anything with Lauren Bacall, Ava Gardner, Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn, Jean Harlow, and Julianne Moore. I LOVE classic films, foreign films, queer films (though, let’s face it, some of them are pretty crummy), romantic films, historical films, and many more.

Favourite music: I’m a BIG showtunes fan, so I love just about any of it (ie “Rent” or “Thoroughly Modern Millie” or “Wicked”). I love Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Lady Gaga, Stevie Nicks, Brandi Carlile, Joshua Radin, Chris Pureka, Cher, Bette Midler, A Fine Frenzy, Lenka, Ingrid Michaelson, Fiona Apple, Lara Fabian, Madonna, Peaches, Regina Spektor, etc.

Favourite TV shows: (okay, I’ve gotten impatient with quotation marks…) The Sopranos, Nurse Jackie, United States of Tara, True Blood, Dexter, Desperate Housewives, The House of Eliott, 30 Rock, Grey’s Anatomy, Xena, The X Files, La Femme Nikita, The Pretender, Bad Girls, etc.

What would you like to send/receive?: I’m not super interested in emailing or IMing, to be completely honest. I’d love snail mail or postcards…it’s a dying art! It makes my day to see something addressed to me in the mailbox that isn’t a bill.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Money’s a little tight so international stamps would add up, but I wouldn’t object to having an international pen pal. I’d honestly be happy to write to anyone who wanted to write to me.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") Nothing extravagant. I can’t afford lots of fun gifts and packages in return and would feel guilty if I received them. Also…nothing creepy. No locks of hair or fingernail clippings….

What would be in your dream letter or package?: Anything! I’d love something that someone put time into, because I’m the type to give time and effort in return. I would most like to write with people who were honest and open.

Anything else you'd like to add?: I’m an open book. Any questions, just ask! I think this is awesome…I really hope to meet some new people!

Picture (optional): Does knowing what I look like make me more or less appealing to write to? *raises eyebrow*

Yeah. I like R/Hr. I do. It's cute in its own right. But definitely cliche. Still much more bearable than H/G. Also, I can't think of anyone else that i would pair them with. Hermione just doesn't come off as gay to me, Ron is way too straight, and I can't think of any other opposite sex people to put them with.

Although, one time I thought Ron/Luna was cute. That one isn't so bad.

Ah. See, I just can't write something if I'm not invested in it. If I don't like it. You know? My fic journal [livejournal.com profile] eerised_da has a prompt request thread and it has... rules. It's mostly because I'm kind of OCD sometimes, and I like the order of it, and to be pristine. But also because I do not want to risk getting some pairing I do not like. So I specifically said, "These are my fandoms. These are my ships. I will not deviate." I feel silly even having the thread on my journal. It's not like I'm a popular writer. I'm not a BNF. But I am so OCD about my fic journal being organized, and sometimes I just need inspiration and I can ask for help from readers. >_<

But I write fanfiction for me and fandom. I write because I like to write, I need the practise if I want to get published, and because sometimes the actual work isn't always the most satisfying. Like with Harry ending up with Ginny. I hadn't even noticed it because it didn't make any sense. She was just this side character for soooo long. You know? And with her annoying crush. Ugh. I mean, Luna had more character development and she started in teh fifth book! I used to like H/L. Well, I still do, but H/D is my OTP. So I don't write H/L.

haha. Yeah.

Man, I talk a lot.

haha. Yeah. I definitely stick to my guns. I'm bad at sexy time stuff, so it all comes out pretty vanilla, or fades to black, and I don't detour much from my usual with my ships. If I ship a character with two different people, it's a rarity. Like, shipping Harry with Luna, as well as shipping him with Draco. I don't normally do that. But H/L was the first thing I actually shipped in HP aside from R/Hr. And I love Luna, so it stuck.

And I could never do incest. Or RPF. I draw my lines beforehand though so I don't have to say no because I hate to do it. I had someone request porn from me and I was like "EEK!" and I had to explain how bad I am at it, but told them to please come up with something else. I definitely don't like disappointing, so I feel you on that for sure.

I do agree with you on the whole continuum thing. I guess what I should have said is, "Hermione doesn't read as the type to be open-minded enough about her own sexuality--same as Ron--to actually experiment." You know? Like... sure Hermione would totally be all for gay rights, and Ron might actually be more okay with it than one would expect, but I can't see them accepting that about themselves. Also, Hermione, being little miss fact, would probably love the theories behind queer studies, gender, sexuality, all that, but in a practical sense I don't think she could get past what she believes as fact. Does that make sense? However I commend you and anyone else who can write her or any other character like her, in an honest gay relationship. :)
