How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) I'm a bisexual female, not really too into labels, though, especially since bisexuals tend to get a bad rap sometimes. I've found that some people who identify as gay accuse bisexuals of clinging to bisexuality in order to try to "pass" and thus benefit from heterosexual privilege, while people who identify as straight sometimes discount bisexuality as just meaning that you want to have your cake and eat it too. Neither of these are the case for me -- I just like people! And sex! And what equipment someone is packing below the belt is the least important part of the attraction equation for me. :) < / soapbox>
Interests/hobbies: I love to read! I am learning to speak/read/write Arabic. I used to ballroom dance, although not lately. I love going to see live music, and love living in Austin where there is live music every night of the week. Passionate about human rights and social justice, and particularly devoted to the pursuit of human rights in the treatment of Palestinians. I am a leftist marxist feminist, probably third wave if you wanna dissect it that closely -- I'm all about intersectionality (looking at the spaces of oppression and privilege where class, race, sexuality and gender intersect).
Favourite books: I love graphic novels like Maus, Persepolis, Palestine by Joe Sacco, Fun Home, Watchmen, Rent Girl, Love and Rockets, etc. Love books by George R.R. Martin, Richard Wright, Ralph Ellison, Zora Neale Hurston, Albert Camus, Jean Paul Sartre, Nabakov, Nick Hornby, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Tom Stoppard, Joseph Heller, Kurt Vonnegut, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Graham Greene, Mahmoud Darwish, Robert Kaplan, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, and most theoretical works on queer theory, ethics, conflict theory, marxism, and feminism. Also love poetry! Gregory Corso, Harold Norse, Nikki Giovanni, Langston Hughes, Amiri Baraka, T.S. Eliot, Edna St. Vincent Millay, et al. Also love young adult books, including Harry Potter, Anne of Green Gables and many others. I love to read!
Favourite music: I have to say I listen to a lot of hip hop these days: Black Star, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, Dead Prez, Common, Of Mexican Descent, 2Mex, Busdriver, Myka 9, Jurassic 5, Nas. Love drum 'n bass and dubstep as well. Listen to a lot of 90s grunge, as well as 80s new wave. The Smiths "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" may be my favorite song. also love Elliott Smith, Johnny Cash, and Patsy Cline.
Favourite Movies/TV shows: Love Alfred Hitchcock, Ingmar Bergman, and documentaries of all kinds! Other films I love: American Beauty, Shutter Island, Synedoche NY, Adaptation, Little Miss Sunshine, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Benny and Joon, anything quirky or with gallows humor. As for TV shows, I like Rome, Generation Kill, Frasier, Cheers... Watching The L Word is one of my guilty pleasures. Who can look at Jennifer Beales and judge me for that, though? ;)
What would you like to send/receive?: snail mail, mostly. I hate only getting bills in the mail!
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone!
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere!
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") Drugs. ;)
What would be in your dream letter or package?: a long letter, poetry, vintage pin ups, anything handmade, anything personal, really.

But of course! I would love to write to you. My email address is mary.christina.huizar@gmail.com. I don't know if you're interested in primarily email communication or if you like snail mail -- either way is cool with me. :)

i just turned 30 myself, so we are the same age!
i am liana, i am married to a guy, but i do like girls as well (which the guy likes, but yeah... lol). anyway, i think sexual orientation is not the most important thing, i just accept everyone, no matter who they are. love is love, attraction is attraction, no matter which way it leads :)
i agree totally on your view of bisexuality though. most people label bisexuals for being part of both sides and guys always think it's hot to see 2 girls fooling around. honestly, i won't give a guy a show if i am attracted to another girl and i wouldn't want to share that so much either.
your view on politics is very intriguing to me since most people do not understand marxism (they just think of a russian communism and that's it). so i would love to get further into that topic if you'd like :) also, learning a language is a wonderful thing to do. i am sure arabic comes close to my russian studies since both languages use unusual letters compared to us :) it also gives you an insight into other cultures to study a language. since i am half russian and i never learned it, it is my duty to learn it and connect with the roots of myself :)
so i would be mostly interested in writing letters, since i love it! i do handwrite, so no worries about unpersonal typed copies of introductions. if you like that, email me at: woozled@gmail.com :)
hurray!

In my own particular field (Middle Eastern studies and gender studies), I enjoyed the book Desiring Arabs by Joseph Massad, and Women With Mustaches and Men Without Beards by Afsaneh Najmabadi.
Enjoy! :)
You got any more of that good sasparilla?
PS I just watched Adaptation for the first time yesterday and immediately it is going to be one of my favourite films.
