Interests/hobbies: I like to draw and paint sometimes. At least enough to minor in it. I also really like to cook variations/ghetto interpretations on things that I've tasted once and fell in love with (mystery bulgogi anyone?).

I'm resisting the urge to copypasta my fb profile. I haven't read much recently besides textbooks, but I'm working on a book of short stories by Roald Dahl currently. And I have a book of sudoku puzzles, does that count?

Favourite films:
Tale of Two Sisters and other Asian horror flicks. I can never get enough.
Flirting, The Village, House of Sand and Fog, The Shining, and Marie Antoinette to name a feww.

Favourite music:
Recently I've been listening to The Strokes, Reverend and the Makers, Tahiti 80, Thermal and a Quarter, Asia Whiteacre.

Letters, sketches, maybe photos? Anything that I can put up on my wall and be like "that's cool".

Hi I'm Rebecca. I'm a straight female who loves the arts and my gay best friend. Actually I love gay people which probably sounds really weird coming from someone who wants to be a youth minister. Especially one who thinks the world doesn't have enough love in it anyway so who are we to judge what's acceptable? That painting is amazing. I tried that once for an art assignment and failed miserably. Then again, I hated the subject I was painting and the teacher, which probably didn't help any. :)

I cheat all the time though since I'm more of a draw-er. For this one I took a picture of it, tuned it to black and white, and made a detail sketch onto the canvas before I actually touched brushed on the paint haha.

Still fantastic. I have a thing for pencil and paper. I've tried almost everything else and I do really enjoy painting/collaging/chalk pastels, but pencil is so simple. I'd really love to get more into comic drawing, to be honest, but my art teacher doesn't/didn't believe it was 'a true form of art' so that didn't happen. And yet i still took the class. -_-"

Pencils are the best in my opinion. It's such a basic medium, one that everyone uses on a regular basis from the age of five. So its more focused on the subject and content rather than wasting time trying to figure out how to work another medium.

You should get back into it! And your art teacher is ridic. Anyone artist should be able to recognize the skill and technique that goes into comics and manga.

Exactly! Your hand already knows how to curve and hold it. Well, it should. I also love the fact that all it takes is a pencil crayon and you can add colour to one thing or another and magnify something amid simple black and white.

I will. Well, I'm wanting to anyways. Which is one of the reasons I'm looking forward to summer so much. More time for drawing/reading. <3
