Interests/hobbies: I have a permanent case of wanderlust and want to go all over the world. I read a lot. I like music a lot - I have a ukulele and a synthesizer and I keep promising myself I will learn how to play them, and then I don't, but I love love love both. I'd also like to learn the cello and the accordion. I'm an absolute film and TV addict. I don't know how I functioned before the internet. I don't know if feminism, anti-racism, and social activism really belong in interests/hobbies but let's put 'em here anyway.

Favourite films: Almost Famous, Mysterious Skin, Gattaca, The History Boys, The Adventures of Sebastian Cole, Sense & Sensibility, Billy Elliot... the list goes on...

Favourite music: The Beatles, Beirut, Metric, Pulp, Joy Division, The Velvet Underground, Patrick Wolf, Blondie, The Decemberists. Again, I could go on for a while.

What would you like to send/receive?: letters, postcards, mix CDs, crafts, newspaper/magazine clippings, tchochkes, and doo-dads

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Whoever and anybody.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Any and all!

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Can't think of anything specific. I'm not overly fussed for food I guess, but even then I could probably be enticed by some chocolate chip cookies.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: My dream package would have to include Joshua Jackson with a marriage proposal and the band Beirut with their crazy assortment of instruments to play live at the ceremony. A blank check would be nice too. In reality though, a mixtape with music that makes me deliriously happy, pretty pictures, something that makes me laugh - I love good surprises so the perfect package for me would be something truly surprising.

Anything else you'd like to add?: I hate bugs - even butterflies and ladybugs creep me out. I also hate birds, but love penguins and owls. Right now I have a desperate craving for chocolate chip pancakes but I don't actually feel like making them. I speak very small and random smatterings of several different languages because roughly once a month I decide to learn a new language but I get frustrated very easily and also have a sucky memory for words. People who insult Peter Doherty in front of me get a stern telling off.

Social activism is definitely a hobby/interest, especially if you're involved. It takes damn well enough energy and time it should be considered a sport.

I think we can overlook our difference of opinion about creepy crawlies and winged things. It definitely sounds like we have more important stuff in common, by which I obviously mean the fact that you complimented my taste in music :-P

I totally support listening to Aqua. Barbie Girl is such a classic! There are definitely things in m collection that wouldn't hold up to musical snob scrutiny but I love 'em anyway.

My thesis was called Holy Crap I Can't Believe I Am Getting Away With This - Ha Ha Suckers! Or in academic parlance, "Performing Girl: How Teen TV's Girl Icons Take On Femininity." And it really was just the perfect excuse to write 50 pages on Buffy and My So-Called Life.

So I just plugged Beirut into my last.fm radio and up popped a group I heard on NPR a month ago and ADORED but totally forgot about because my memory is horrible. So you get my awesome person of the day award :D (It's DeVotchKa, btw, as I'm sure you were wondering).

You seem pretty cool all around, and I would totally teach you cello, but I think that might be hard through the mail...

I know Westchester. One of my exes was from Mount Kisco and another was from Dobbs Ferry. It's nice up there. How long have you lived there?

That is the question up for discussion. I'm helping my mom settle into her new place in Florida, and I got into a graduate program in the UK so hopefully I'll be going there, but if that ends up not working out I'm just going to pick someplace and move there. I'm thinking Portland, or someplace in California.

Yeah, I used to spend quite a bit of time up there. It was a whole lot prettier than Queens!

No, if I go someplace else it'll be to look for a job, and to just get the experience of living somewhere besides New York for a while.
