How do you identify?: gender fluid or pansexual i guess but i really dislike the use of labels.. language is so constrictive.

Favourite books: A Brief History of Camouflage(Thaisa Frank), The Three Musketeers Series, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Little Prince, The Kite Runner, 1984, White Oleander, Picture of Dorian Gray, Nausea(Jean-Paul Sartre), The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Harry Potter Series (my favorites are order of the phoenix&deathly hallows except the epilogue. i hate the epilogue), I love childrens novels, road dahl and dr. seuss are great, i read tons of manga...books are wonderful.

Favourite films: eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, heavenly creatures, pulp fiction, spirited away, howl's moving castle, stardust, gia, riding in cars with boys, requiem for a dream, little children, the last unicorn, breakfast at tiffanys, queen christina, the reader, quills, benny&joon, edward scissorhands, and lots more. i have a horrible memory.

i'm an american in japan, too! i'd love to get to know you--i'm sorry i don't have an intro post! i'm 23, i live in iwate-ken and teach english. i'm female but don't identify with a gender. i thought i had it all figured out at one point but i figure, you can never get it all figured out. i'm attracted exclusively to women, exclusively to queer women until i came to japan. but i think that's because there isn't a self-identified lesbian under the age of 40 in this whole prefecture. chicks drive me crazy, in good and bad ways.

i love my kids and most of my daily life revolves around teaching. the other big love in my life is poetry, and i try to write every day. recently i've taken up jogging, and tomorrow (payday) i'm buying a bass guitar, with the intention to teach myself. i am half-assedly "studying" for 2kyuu and use it as an excuse to rent japanese movies.

i am making friends here, but i'd like to have more queer friends and it's tough keeping up with people back home due to the time difference, as i'm sure you're aware.

yes, i have a facebook! i'll message you with a link. and i'm planning on visiting tokyo in august!

iwate-ken is beautiful, serene. the people here are the friendliest in japan. the rent and cost of living are cheap, cheap! and it is a really good place to study japanese because spoken english is quite uncommon.

i studied abroad for four months in tokyo during college, and although i was too nervous to ever venture in, i think there's a small lesbian scene, if you can speak enough japanese and know where to go...? i think lonely planet has some info.
