Howdy folks.
Name: Technically Emma though I tend to go by Jay... welcome to pick something else.
Age: 27
Location: UK, Leeds
How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Gender queer dyke. I get mistaken for a boy... alot, which is okay with me.
Interests/hobbies: reading, writing, films are probably the main three. I love being outside, cooking, climbing, music...
Favourite books: Thief of Time - Pratchett, Fried Green Tomatoes - Fannie Flagg, Antigone - Sophocles, The World Unseen - Shamim Sarif, Strangers in Paradise - Terry Moore... as you can see I am entirely unpredictable and like a little something from pretty much every genre. I don't tend to go for Horror and I find paranormal romance tends to bore me rigid, oh and I love Jasper Fforde the man is all kinds of wonderful.
Favourite films: Seres Queridos, Fried Green Tomatoes, Amelie, Mostly Martha, Serenity, Empire Records, V for Vendetta, Rent, Stranger than Fiction, Eulogy, Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros... I watch a lot of international films: French, German, Spanish, Hebrew, Italian pretty much anything.
Favourite music: Maike von Bremen, Sarah McLachlan, Ani DiFranco, Hanson (don't start! :) ), Sara Baraeilles, Barenaked Ladies, Kate Rusby, Dixie Chicks, Jude, Death Cab for Cutie, Nada Surf... Thomas Newman, Philip Glass, Little Richard, Chuck Berry... again pretty much anything.
What would you like to send/receive?: Letters, e-mail whatever strikes my fancy once I know a person I suppose... nothing hinky.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone, preferably female I guess though I don't mind overly either way
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?:Anywhere, preferably Europe or New Zealand but anywhere is fine by me.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") all I can think of is stuff like porn or anything of a sexual nature I guess oh or adverts and stuff.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: A surprise, preferably of the good variety.
Anything else you'd like to add?: Leave a message or somehting and I will get back to you. I am: a Librarian by day, geek at all times, nerd on occassions and gawky 'teenage boy' (I'm a girl, hence the quotation marks) at the most unfortunate times, usually when I want to be faintly suave, often and usually in public. I am: sarcastic, dry, intelligent, well spoken and articulate, shy, quiet, loner though not in the worrisome way.

Where abouts in Liverpool are you? I used to live there, in Mossley Hill, right off Penny Lanel, I went to University there.

(York, actually, rather than Leeds.)
Mind if I friend you?
(I don't mind if you do mind (um, does that make sense...? :S), cause not everyone wants an annoying little 16-year-old as their friend :P)

Right I'm not sure on the minding stakes and I most certainly don't want to patronise you, for it is horrible being on the recieving end of tha and well I ust want to do that to you, it's unfairt, but... I'm not sure how comfortable I feel with someone as young as you are (and there is nothing wrong with young, I'm just a cranky old bastard) floating around my LJ.
Whilst I am not particularly into airing private stuff or things that are especially inappropriate for a 'younger viewer' as it were... it's just I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it.
Take that as you will, it's not no, but it's not yes either I suppose.
How about this then; what made you think we would get on (that's not a challenge just a genuine question), what was it that made you interested in friending me? I figure if we end up having stuff in common, then that is all fine and dandy and this whole undecided thing is for nought and sign on up. I like to know who I am talknig to (or at) not in a 'give me all the details of your life' way just a 'what are the common grounds' way and I hope you do too.

That's fine! And aw, you're not a cranky old bastard! Well, you don't seem to be, anyway.
I understand :) That's absolutely fine.
It was mostly your music choices and interests, actually; I'm a big Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Terry Pratchett fan too. But I was also interested by you saying that you're 'sarcastic and dry' - I like people like that (which explains why I'm a big Jack Dee/Rowan Atkinson fan too!), if that doesn't sound too weird :S Hmm. So, I don't mind if you're still not keen, but if you're not too busy I look forward to hearing back! :D
