 Name: Emily, sometimes Em

Age: 21 in 3 days!!!

Location: Bronxville, NY

How do you identify?: Sometimes I pretend I like boys, and then I remember how silly penises are.

Interests/hobbies: I spend the majority (too much) of my time doing technical theatre at school. I'm a stage manger, a lighting designer, a set designer, a budding sound designer, and technical director for a student theatre company. Believe it or not, I don't want to go into the theatre. I'm also a huge history buff, and interested in going into museum studies for grad school in order to help museum build better education programs. I'm very passionate about learning and children.

When I have spare time, I enjoy hiking and climbing trees. I love the outdoors, and if I were to do anything else with my life it would be to start local environmental education programs revolving around the idea of place-based education.

Favourite books:
What Now by Ann Patchett
Last Child in the Woods by Richard Louv
Chris Van Allsburg, Tennessee Williams, Shakespeare, Chuck Klosterman, Nick Hornby, Chelsea Handler (guilty pleasure, A. A. Milne, Oscar Wilde, Edward Gorey
On my girlfriend's insistence, I recently read A Wrinkle in Time for the first time, and was overcome by its beauty.

Favourite films:
All time favorite has always been, and will always be, The Princess Bride.
Casablanca, Annie Hall, ANYTHING by Hitchcock, Beauty and the Beast, Fried Green Tomatoes, When Harry Met Sally, What's Up Doc, 500 Days of Summer, The Last Waltz... I could go on...

Favourite TV shows:
Currently on TV - How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, Grey's Anatomy
No longer on TV - Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The X-Files, Firefly, Freaks and Geeks, any documentary by Ken Burns, and recently I've been getting into Battlestar Galactica, Coupling, and Veronica Mars.

Favourite music:
This really depends on what kind of mood I'm in... I was raised on Bob Dylan, The Band, The Beatles, Van Morrison, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, etc. Since I've come to college I've grown to love Kate Nash, Jenny Owen Youngs, The Decemberists, Girly Man, and more. I'm also a, mildly closeted, musical theatre encyclopedia... so that will come out from time to time.

Lately my two most played Pandora stations have been one based on You Can't Hurry Love, by The Supremes, and one based on It Had to be You, as sung by Harry Connick Jr. Read as: Motown, and lots of Frank, Dean, and Ella.

What would you like to send/receive?:
Clandestine notes, newspaper articles, wedding invitations for fictional characters, temporary tattoos, the makings of a gin daisy... anything, really.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?:
Socialites, wayfaring strangers, anti-prohibitionists, farmer's daughters, starving artists, and all of those who fall between the cracks.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?:
Any and all, though I will admit, English is my only language.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts")
Still, no limbs. I do not have your sons, wrongfully accused by the goths, and therefore do not want your severed hand.

What would be in your dream letter or package?:
A pony and a bottle of belvedere.

Anything else you'd like to add?:
I want someone to write me letters like Sullivan Ballou... without the dying part.

I've got a thousand opinions, and not the time to explain... )
