Who we are:

musicdorch (Kim): 23, Atlanta native living in Virginia, blonde, brilliant, beautiful. Loves languages, steak and all other things that go mooo, has a habit of buying more shoes than she actually needs. Currently on a DIY kick. Makes really cute faces when she disapproves of things.

cardiogod (Rachel): 22, Chicago native, semi-neurotic former opera singer, future law student. Loves languages, all forms of cow, has a shameful love of Xena: Warrior Princess. Wants to adopt all the animals ever. Kind of odd.

How we met:

In June, [livejournal.com profile] queermail  was Spotlighted on the LJ homepage. Rachel, having just been dumped by someone totally wrong for her, read through people's messages, hoping to find some gay friends because all of her friends are lame and straight. Kim's message caught her eye, so she replied and they began emailing and sending letters back and forth from Atlanta to Chicago.

What happened then:

Their letters were really freaking long. Like... really long. Pages and pages and pages.

Well, eventually Rachel's fingers got tired, so they started to talk on Skype. It was July and Rachel was in Texas for a work thing and it was really really hot, so she looked like ass, but Kim didn't seem to care and they would Skype for crazy-long periods of time until the sun came up and they were really really tired.

This continued on a near-daily basis and by the time August came, Rachel could no longer contain herself and blabbed to Kim about the major crush that had developed in the course of their interaction. When Kim didn't respond for something like 22 hours (not that Rachel was counting or anything), she got pretty worried that she had screwed everything up, but that fear was allayed when Kim finally got back to her (she had been out shopping with her mom -- damn shoes or purses or whatever it was that diverted her attention from her email) and said that she liked Rachel too.

So they began dating. Which consisted of more Skype. And more letters. And basically more of the same stuff they'd been doing.

And then Kim went to Japan for four months and Rachel went to Germany and England and Calgary and all kinds of places. There were times when they were very far apart, but they still made it work. In October, Kim referred to Rachel as her girlfriend and Rachel was so happy that she ran down the alley behind her apartment in Chicago flailing around and squealing.

Anyway, they were apart for a very long time.

And then they weren't.

Then what????:

Kim and Rachel finally met in person on Valentine's Day when Rachel flew to Virginia to see her. It was epically awesome and their relationship was even better in person than Rachel had expected (and she had kind of expected a lot because, come on, they could Skype for six hours without running out of things to talk about). Also, Kim is an awesome kisser and you can't really tell that via the internet.

At the end of March, Rachel got a job in Virginia and moved into the apartment above Kim's. No, it wasn't U-Hauling. It was about residency and law school and stuff. It was. I swear. Heh.

Now what?

Rachel and Kim are basically living together and will be officially living together after Kim graduates from college next month. They are decorating the apartment and thinking about getting a cat. Rachel is blissfully happy (and Kim seems to tolerate it all okay).

The point of this message:

Thanks for existing, [livejournal.com profile] queermail , and for allowing us to meet each other. We are both very happy and very grateful.
