Salutations!
Jun. 26th, 2010 01:48 amName: Trixie
Age: 18.01
Location: California, USA
How do you identify?: As a bisexual female homo sapien sapien. I'm not as feminine as some--not exactly butch-- but rather somewhat utilitarian.
Interests/hobbies: Adventures! Art! (and academics!)
In the adventures department, I especially enjoy physically demanding and/or slightly dangerous activities (ex: parkour, hiking, climbing, bicycle tours, capoeira, acrobatics, and, recently, dancing). These things keep me grounded in a way: I'm not among the elite in any of them, there isn't any grading system, and it's all so natural, and well, monkey-like. It's sobering and comforting to be reminded that when it comes down to the basics, I'm just a speaking animal, jumping around to keep my sanity, or what's left of it.
There are so many forms of art that pique my interest. I have a strong book louse streak in me (many a time have I spent an entire day reading a book from cover to cover), and enjoy writing about events in everyday life--some humorous and others unsettling. Also, drawing and painting have always had a magnetic pull on me. (However, the peak of my drawing career seems to have been somewhere around age ten.) Music is one art I am just beginning to discover-- I've been learning ukulele and the Korean drum, changoo. And singing. I adore people with beautiful voices.
Favourite books: To name a few: The Chronicles of Narnia, anything/everything by Robin McKinley, A Clockwork Orange, The World's Religions, The Nausicaa series, The Gay Science, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and Wuthering Heights.
I could go on, but if you're really interested I'll just give you a link to my goodreads page.
Favourite films: Princess Bride, Kill Bill, Heat, Blanc, Bleu, Rouge, Robin Hood (Disney), Serentiy, Star Wars original trilogy, and The Blues Brothers.
Favourite music: MIA, Lady Sovereign, Chopin, Mozart, Morphine, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ani Difranco, Miles Davis, Fergie, Aretha Franklin, Art Blakey, Billie Holiday, Cat Stevens, Lilly Allen, The Bird and the Bee, Radiohead, The Beatles, Don Byron sometimes.
What would you like to send/receive?: Letters! Preferably a healthy mix from both cyberspace and the snail system. Along with these letters, we might exchange art projects, music mixes, recipes, clothes, pictures, dried flowers and leaves, books, and anything else sharable!
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Folks interested in long term penpalship, travel, and sharing tales of their adventures! Also, I delight in the company (and writing) of people who have found a passion (ex: computer programming, astronomy, art history, chemistry, music theory, literature analysis, etc.) and are willing to talk at length about it.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere! I can definitely correspond in English, but wouldn't mind reading and sending letters with a mix of French or Farsi added in (I'm not fluent in either but can probably write letters-- however, letters in these languages may take a bit longer to produce.)
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Any food with dairy products in it.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: A wall sized canvas painting or drawing. Scrumptious memories in picture or letter form, tales of exciting adventures, the sender's favorite book.
Anything else you'd like to add?: A handshake! (shakes hand)
Picture (optional): I loved the wind on this pier :)
