Name: JD (two letters, easy to remember)
Age: 27
Location: Idaho, USA
How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Officially, I have no sexuality. I took a vow of celibacy 8 months ago. But prior to that I was pretty flagrantly bisexual. And by that, I mean I like what I like, and what ever's between the legs is fine by me. I'm male, but the inner gay man likes to escape now and again. Actually I am FTM, but far enough along in my transition, I rarely have to say that outloud any more.
Interests/hobbies: Dogs and Horses. I make a living training dogs and horses. So they take up the primary amount of my focus. I studied English (creative writing) in college, and fancy myself something of an author, but hesitate on being published because I am an oddity like that. I live and breathe music, including performing at a bar on sunday nights. I read a lot. I am into biking, swimming, hiking, camping, and any sport that could potentially kill me. I played baseball growing up, and am a first degree blackbelt. I do most of the repairs on my ancient and decrepit but beloved truck myself. I am a hardcore geek at heart. I role play, I show up to movie premieres in costume, and I'm unapologetic about it. And I do karaoke a couple of nights a week with my band, because I'm that kind of nerd. I also collect antique books.
Favourite books: Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (James Joyce), Picture of Dorian Grey
(Oscar Wilde), The Dresden Files (Jim Butcher), The Crucible (Arthur Miller), The Courtship of Princess Leia (David Wolverton...yes I am a star wars junkie). Out of Sight (Elmore Leonard), Lonesome Dove (Larry McMurty), About a Boy (Nicolas Hornby), and anything by Hemmingway.
Favourite films: This will be a long list.Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, Rebel with out a Cause, Star Wars (episodes IV through VI), Star Trek IV, Blade Trinity, Shawshank Redemption, 500 Days of Summer, Lethal Weapon 3, Terminator, Terminator 2, Stargate, John Carptener's Vampires (I kind of have this thing for bad vampire movies...), Lost Boys, Ocean's 11 (original and the remake), Serenity.Butch Cassidey and the Sundance Kid. And musicals. I love music, so naturally I love musicals. Newsies, RENT, West Side Story, and Sound of Music are amongst my favorites.
Favorite TV shows: (I'm adding this, because I love tv. A lot. It's probably my favorite medium). The X Files (it goes first because it was the single greatest thing to ever grace the airwaves), Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Profiler, Stargate (SG1 and Atlantis), Supernatural, Castle, GLEE, Sliders, Torchwood, Burn Notice, Pysch, the Big Bang Theory, Star Trek (TNG mostly, but I watched them all)...thank the gods for DVR, right?
Favourite music: I'll just list a couple, because when it comes to music I have only one philosophy: if it's good, I'll listen to it. But my favorites include: Bad Religion, Green Day, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin (best bad ever), The Beatles, the Doors, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Garth Brooks, Broadway Classics (especially music from Miss Saigon and Les Mis). Sex Pistoles, The Ramones, and Hair bands. Mostly it's classic rock, with a sprinkling of whatever the hell else I find during a youtube crawl.
What would you like to send/receive?: Anything really. I'm open to all kinds of new expierences and things. Though I gotta say someone who could turn me on to new books and music and movies would be awesome. And I like letters. There is something very satisfying about opening the mailbox and there being a letter there (amongst all the bills) just for you. I like hand written, or typed, and I say that with the notion in mind that my handwriting is virtually a foreign language. So if you go that route with me, consider this fair warning.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone. Any where. Any time. Bring it on.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anyone. Anywhere.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") I'm allergic to soy and mustard seed. SO yeah that wouldn't be really usable for me. Also, I am willing to discuss religious philosophy, but conversion tactics aren't appreciated. Otherwise, bring it on!
What would be in your dream letter or package?: Hand written letter, or letters depending on how often one is sending such things. Something that would have taken time to construct, and shows thought and effort. And mix CDs of new music from all over the place. Maybe other writer's works just for fun.
Anything else you'd like to add?: Not really. I'm pretty approachble, or I try to be. I think I'm fun, or at least I'm told I am by those who insist on calling me friend. I'm part old school cowboy, part punk rock revolutionary, and a significantly committed daredevil. I also practically never sleep.
Picture (optional): There's one in the icon thingee, but I'll share more as I get to know folk.

Hi, my name's Leander.
Wanna be pen pals?
My intro on here (http://community.livejournal.com/queermail/128497.html) Check out my profile, on lj, but it really doesn't describe me very well. -Leander

Date: 2010-06-27 05:10 am (UTC)And glancing over your intro some things stand out: First of all ha ha ha! You're in Utah! HA! I'm just Six hours north of you, less if I'm driving.
Second: You like Jane Austen? Mega Jane Austen fan. This is primarily because in college it was convert to this love affair or go crazy and shoot yourself in literature classes.
Third: Dr. Horrible AND Eddie Izzard? I think we're soul mates. Plus, you listed Dead Poets Society first, excellent film. AND you listed Somewhere in Time, I think we're the only people of our generation who have any idea about that film. And it's awesome. And the music, oh man.
I'm digging the pen pal thing. I'm reachable on AIM via: Felony Texas. You should contact me whenever, because I don't actually sleep so... yeah.
Re: edited
Date: 2010-06-27 06:27 am (UTC)Seriously, soul mates. You are just awesome!
I don't AIM. :( Oh no! *wink*
However, I do Windows Live Messenger, Googletalk, I have various email addresses too.
I sleep, but not until late and I get up early - cuz its summer here like crazy.
Yay! We're not too far away from each other! That's fabulous. :)
Dr. Horrible, anything by Joss really, Eddie Izzard is a god. Jane Austen all the way. And many other authors too. I love music - it is my soul and I'm not too picky.
Seriously, no one my age has ever seen, let alone heard of, Somewhere In Time! Then again, Christopher Reeve was also a god.
Pen pals = groovy.
I'll PM you with my info.
you rock.

Date: 2010-06-27 05:24 am (UTC)I'm Amber, and I just posted my own intro here. It's quick and dirty, and I'll likely be editing it on and off for days.
We have common music tastes, TV tastes (X-Files, Burn Notice, Sliders, Star Trek, Psych... the others I've never seen, but I'll probably try to now), movies, books... yeah, like I said, it's sort of scary. I'm a casual writer, and I've been roleplaying in various formats for over half my life.
Anyway, I'd love to chat sometime, if you're up to it, but I'd rather keep my IM private, so I'll PM it to you if you're interested. I've added you to my friends here on LJ, btw.

Date: 2010-06-27 05:35 am (UTC)I'm up for chatting whenever. My AIM: felonytexas is available whenever. I am not opposed to handing it out publicaly as I live life on the edge... but not the band member. It's getting to be that time of night, where my brain kicks into over drive and I'm helpless to its mercy. Anyway we have similar tastes in books and movies and that is an excellent place to start. Message me whenever you feel like, can't promise I'm the best conversationalist, but I do try.
