Name: Patti, Patti-Lou-Who, or Hey You
Age: 19
Location: Conservative Central, Utah (thankfully surrounded by a generous circle of more liberal friends)
How do you identify?: Bisexual, feminist, foodie, fattie. I'm your BFF BFFF. :D
Interests/hobbies: I love creating all sorts of things, but I especially love cooking and costuming. I make many of my own clothes and do costuming work for my college's theatre department, as well as whenever my sewing machine has been dormant for too long. I can be fairly shy in person, but I love to have long, in-depth conversations about anything from Lady Gaga's supercharged image evolution to the causes and repercussions of the Vietnam War. English is my one true love (frequently joined by her attractive yet anal-retentive sisters, Grammar and Punctuation), but I'm learning French and Italian and would love to expand to even more languages.
I am a happy, positive person who can find the sunny side of nearly any issue, and thus have a difficult time with negative people. I sometimes hate writing mini-bios of myself, because almost every sentence ends up starting with I and then I feel self-centered. Sometimes I have issues like this. :)
Favourite books: I'm a huge Harry Potter fan (and have been in fandom for almost 10 years now, holy poop!) and will read nearly anything in the fantasy genre. My particular favorites are the Jacky Faber series, Good Omens and anything else by Neil Gaiman OR Terry Pratchett, copperbadge's Nameless, The Mastery of Love, and The Vagina Monologues. My copy is falling apart at the binding, the pages annotated and scribbled on, and my favorite pages dog-eared and soft.
Favourite films: I love old movies and foreign films (subtitles, please!), but I'm a sucker for any movie-musicals, from Chicago to Disney movies to Into the Woods to the concert version of Chess. *theatre!dork* I will watch nearly anything if the characters sing.
Favourite music: Almost anything - I'm continually cycling songs out of my 8 gig ipod because I keep finding fabulous new things and can't fit anything more onto it (and as a college student, am more concerned with buying food than buying a new ipod). I love foreign pop music and will dance to absolutely anything with a beat. The only thing I really dislike is hard country and rap - I'm game for anything else!
What would you like to send/receive?: I would adore getting some snail mail, especially if it's handwritten. My mailbox is usually empty, and I've been known to subscribe to cheese catalogs just to find something when I make the trek to campus to check my mail. Also, mix cds. I would love to swap music.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: I hate chocolate more than I hate the oil spill in the gulf. Please don't send. :)
What would be in your dream letter or package?: A handwritten letter, a mixtape, favorite recipes, inspirational trinkets, anything that fits in a box.

I hand-dyed this wig and wear it all the time. Blue hair is cooler than blonde.

Date: 2010-06-29 05:58 am (UTC)Do you use your wig for cosplay or anything? Or is it just to look awesome?
no subject
Date: 2010-06-29 07:34 am (UTC)I have used it for cosplay - it was originally a Sailor Mercury wig, and then I dyed it as part of a Dark Sailor Mercury cosplay (the live action sailor moon series? delicious, frightening, wonderful crack.). These days I just wear it to look awesome, especially on bad hair days. Other people have hats? I have wigs. Muahaha.
What Harry Potter ships do you ship? How long have you been around fandom? What other fandoms do you like? Call me curious indeed.

Date: 2010-06-29 08:06 am (UTC)Tha'ts so awesome XD I got a pink wig for a cosplay last year, this year I'm going out on a limb and just dying my real hair purple and hoping for the best. Did you make the rest of your costume yourself?
Hmmm I got into Harry Potter when the third book came out and I saw it on the 'new book' stand at school. I read it, didn't get it, then found out there were two other books and then fell in love. So probably around 11 years or so? I had an extreme obsession when I was younger (I'd planned my life around marrying Daniel Radcliffe) but now I'm a bit of a closet fan since I don't know anyone cool enough in real life who likes HP. I don't know about ships, I was convinced until the end that Harry/Hermione would happen and then Ginny ruined that for me.
What's your fandom story?
Have you seen the new trailer? Excitement overload.

Date: 2010-06-29 08:03 am (UTC)Theatre dorks unite indeed! If you can't drop into an accent, burst into song or being monologing at the drop of a hat, I'm still going to be nice to you, but it's not half as likely that we'll be friends. ;)

Date: 2010-06-29 06:50 pm (UTC)Oh, and totally agreed reason as for why you don't like mini-bios. Yup.
And we should be friends because you're the second person (first one was very awesome) to mention The Vagina Monologues.
Am I really trying to convince you here? Oh dear.
Well, anyway, I wanna be your friend! ♥
Mostly because I could have copied 99,9% of your introduction and posted it as mine but then again, plagiarism is bad, so let's just pretend I did that.
