Name: samantha/sam, also known as tall sam
Age: a little less than a month away from the wonderful twenty-two
Location: tennessee the beautiful
How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) whatever fits me at that specific moment. though i tend to be feminine, and i tend to lean more towards the same sex side of orientation
Interests/hobbies: my job, which seems to take up the majority of my time, whether it be butterfly identification or programming with our speckled kingsnake; storytelling, especially stories of the native american variety; weaving, making jewelry, making beads; playing wildly interesting tunes on my keyboard at midnight as some sort of ridiculous ritual; collecting beads and buttons; wildflowers and all their many uses; mildly inappropriate and always confusing analogies; renewable energy; cooking, especially vegan and vegetarian foods; expeditions to used book stores and goodwills; culture studies. in essence, i'm a down home southern girl who never wants to admit she's from the south, who loves biodiversity, good literature, and a good trail run/canoe session/bike ride/hike to clear the mind. i hate boxes and refuse to be any part of them; everything i see is colored, and nothing is black or white.
Favourite books: dry, running with scissors, and possible side effects by augusten burroughs; the norby series by isaac asimov; the martian chronicles by ray bradbury; salmon of doubt and the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy by douglas adams; breakfast of champions, cat's cradle, and slaughter-house five by kurt vonnegut; the book of laughter and forgetting by milan kundera; life of pi by yann martel... so much more. neil gaiman, virginia woolf, frances burney, mark twain, thomas hardy, herman hesse... literature is the way to my heart.
Favourite films: shortbus, four-eyed monsters, high art, the shining, pulp fiction, death proof, hocus pocus, charlie brown movies, young frankenstein, snatch, transamerica, saving face
Favourite music: last.fm. sarah jaffe, yeasayer, freelance whales, the be good tanyas, wavves, crystal castles, animal collective, patti smith, the gits, bob dylan, the dodos, tegan & sara, why?, cloud cult, bassnectar, miles davis, bessie smith, ella fitzgerald, debussy, vince guaraldi (i've an unhealthy obsession with charlie brown/charles m. schulz.)
What would you like to send/receive?: anything, everything.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: i've met my complement (
novelromantic), what about my polar opposite? anyone, really.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: does not matter one bit.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") complacency
What would be in your dream letter or package?: brains from abby normal. imprints of old graves.
Anything else you'd like to add?: i'd prefer e-mail at first, but i love the art of handwritten letters.
