How do you identify?: Female. For sexuality, I'd currently just state "undetermined".
Favourite books: "Tapping the Dream Tree", "Waifs & Strays" by Charles de Lint. "The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson. "Shapes" by Steve Vance (this is TOTALLY a guilty pleasure book; it's not good, but it's fun horror/action pulp). I don't read as much as I used to, but I still love books; I have heaps of unread ones, and keep collecting more.
Favourite films: I like the occasional horror/thriller film (Ravenous, Dog Soldiers, Memento, Pontypool), but my real loves are documentaries (Grizzly Man, Sharkwater, A Small Act) and foreign films (Let the Right One In, The Tracker, Stalker, Aimee & Jaguar, Nowhere in Africa). I rarely bother seeing movies in theatres, because I'm not at all a fan of Hollywood/blockbuster stuff. Not film, but as far as TV shows go, I really dig The Good Wife right now.
Favourite music: Metal (Sonata Arctica, Kamelot, Tristania, Apocalyptica), celtic rock (Runrig, Solas), and other misc. stuff (Feist, Dido, Sarah McLachlan). I am also guilty of totally enjoying me some Lady Gaga, haha.
What would you like to send/receive?: Real, live snail-mail! I tend to periodically drop off the face of the internet, so the amount of time I'm around on MSN (and e-mail, to a lesser degree) is really inconsistent. I'm a huge fan of snail-mail though, and I've been known to send internet friends postcards, travel souveniers, packages (in addition to letters, of course!). Me, I'd love to recieve photos or stories of where people live, a sample of local art, anything like that. A care package would be just about make me the happiest girl ever.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: I'd love to send/receive mail from anyone who's living/lived abroad, or has done any volunteering abroad. I spent two months at the beginning of this year in rural Kenya, teaching at a school and spending time with kids in a children's home (orphanage). So I'd love to swap volunteer/travel stories with someone, you know? But I won't turn down any potential letter-swapping partners who don't fit that criteria (I might try to tell you about my students in Kenya, though)! Only thing: I'd really prefer to correspond with someone 18+.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere! Though, I only speak english. I wouldn't have a problem right now affording to send letters, small trinkets/souveniers, and/or an occasional larger package, so I guess I'm up for anything!
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: No porn, nothing overly offensive/distasteful (I'll let you use your own judgement).
Anything else you'd like to add?: I love online/long distance friendships, and I definitely believe that they can be meaningful and enduring. I originally met one of my current best friends over the internet; we met for the first time in person about a year ago, and we've gotten together several times since. I think that's pretty awesome!
