I'm kinda bored, so I figured I'd run through this again :D I'm really not big on letter-writing, since I'm kind of swamped with schoolwork and I'm really bad about sending things out in a timely manner (seriously, the only way we get rent in on time is because we send it in online XD), so I'm mainly just looking for email buddies and/or LJ friends :)
Name: Cyrus (I go by Cy)
Age: 22
Location: Newmarket, NH
How do you identify?: Panromantic demisexual with an aesthetic preference for the male body. Also, pre-transitioned trans dude. I call myself a gay man for the simplicity. Also taken.
Interests/hobbies: I'm...kind of into a lot of things but not very much at all, if that makes sense. Offline, I'm just inundated with schoolwork and the stress of all that, but I'm really open to getting into anything if I have the time. Like, right now, I'm heavily into playing on VDex, and I play World of Warcraft on occasion. I'm also working on a crossover fanwork of epic proportions, which means that I'm getting very much into a lot of different fantasy/sci-fi series. I'm also a huge psychology/sociology geek, and I end up analyzing interesting characters and character interactions. I'm really interested in other people's takes on certain things. I love learning random things and having intellectual discussions, but I also love mindless fun (I've played stupid flash games for hours before). The problem is my attention span - I can usually only focus on one or two things at a time, so I get heavily obsessed with one thing and end up neglecting my other interests, so it sometimes seems like I have no other interests aside from what I'm obsessed with at the time.
Favourite books: I used to read a lot more than I do now, and I really wish I had the leisure and the drive to get into that again. My very favorite series is the Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling, followed closely by Terry Pratchett's Discworld series (of which I've only read a few books, sadly) and some of Neil Gaiman's work. (I've read American Gods and Neverwhere, both of which I really loved.) Good Omens is always my go-to recommendation for a good read, and I always suggest Lynn Flewelling's Tamír Trilogy for a fantasy series that deals with gender identity issues very well. And although I haven't read much of any of them, I do enjoy Shakespeare (for the dirty jokes, really) and Oscar Wilde. I also love reading books that deal with psychological/sociological issues (such as Covering by Kenji Yoshino) and stories with interesting little-known facts (like the article on natural and artificial flavors that my partner had to read for his English class). Knowledge is power, and I love learning things that most people don't know.
Favourite manga/anime: I'd hate for anybody to think I'm a pretentious jerk - I'm really just a huge geek. I really love a lot of things from Japan, and their media is no different. Right now, my pet series is D.Gray-Man, but I've also watched/read (though not necessarily finished) and enjoyed Bleach, Card Captor Sakura, Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, Pretty Cure, One Piece, Shaman King, Demon Flowers, FAKE, Gravitation, Saiyuki, Yami no Matsuei, Get Backers, FullMetal Alchemist (the first anime), Weiss Kreuz, Air Gear, Gundam Wing, Diabolo, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Trigun, DOGs, Ookiku Furikabutte (aka Gayseball)... I'm sure there are others that I just can't think of. Also, I only watch subs where available - after hearing some of the mismatched and often grating voice acting of dubs, I've sworn them off forever.
Favourite Video Games: Aside from World of Warcraft, which I mentioned above, I love Pokémon, Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Symphonia (which I haven't finished), Tales of Legendia (which I also haven't finished), Kingdom Hearts (which I need to finish but I've watched all the cutscenes so I know what happens anyway XD), and a bunch of random games. I've played the Sims (all three computer versions), Kingdom of Loathing, Puzzle Pirates, and I dabbled a bit in SecondLife. When I was younger, GaiaOnline and Neopets were really big for me XD
Favourite films: Currently, Fight Club (I'm 22 and I just recently saw this - how behind the times am I?), Boondock Saints (and Boondock Saints II), the new Sherlock Holmes movie, Iron Man 1 and 2, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, How to Train Your Dragon... I also have a soft spot for The Princess Bride, Enchanted, Kamikaze Girls, The Importance of Being Ernest... There are several more movies that I've enjoyed and I can't think of them. I'm always open to film suggestions, too.
Favourite TV Shows: House, MD, Merlin, Doctor Who (haven't caught up), Glee, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Lie to Me... I don't watch so much regular TV, though my partner has been watching White Collar and I may have to get into that.
Favourite music: Uh...this is a toughie. I listen to a ton of different things, depending on what sounds good. I have a range of JPop/JRock from Bump of Chicken, access, L'arc~en~Ciel, Gackt, Dir en Grey, and a couple other different artists that my partner's sent me. I download openings and endings from shows I like, too. I have other non-English stuff like t.A.T.u. and Rammstein. Then there's my love for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which is probably the only instrumental music I enjoy. I still enjoy listening to the stuff from my angry/emo teenage years, like Linkin Park, Hoobastank, Breaking Benjamin, A.F.I., Bad Religion, My Chemical Romance, Blink-182, Trapt, The Used, Panic! At the Disco, Chevelle, and Evanescence. I grew up on late '90s/early '00s music like Green Day, Incubus, Matchbox Twenty, New Found Glory, Nine Inch Nails, The Offspring, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Savage Garden, System of a Down... I have some really "lolwut" stuff in my library like 98°, Enrique Iglesias, Toybox, Tune Up!, Vengaboys, Aqua, and ATC, and some really obscure/Indie stuff like Stabilo, Less Than Jake, Jack's Mannequin, Jack Off Jill, theSTART... A whole bunch of stuff, really. Music recs are always a plus, as I'm open to anything that sounds nice to my ears~
What would you like to send/receive?: I'm really looking for email buddies and/or LJ friends. I'm not so good with the snail mail thing ^^;
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anybody, really :D I have this drive to reach out to people who need a big brother or a mentor in finding themselves. I didn't really have anybody when I was first figuring myself out, and when I finally found somebody who'd been through it and understood what I was going through, things became a little easier because I could turn to him for answers or advice. I want to return the favor to those who really need it. It's hard trying to work through any sort of queerness without a hand there to reassure you that it's all okay.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Any is fine, but I can only read and write English. I'm learning Russian, but I can pretty much only say my name, ask if your grandmother's name is Svetlana, and say that my boyfriend speaks Japanese.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Uh...hate mail, porn, chain letters, pleas for money...
What would be in your dream letter or package?: I dunno...I think even just a letter from somebody thanking me for my help or whatever would make me ridiculously happy. I get joy out of making other people happy.
Anything else you'd like to add?: Uhm. I'm a very candid and shameless person. I don't believe in hiding who or what I am, or glossing anything over so as to not offend. My journal entries usually contain at least one expletive, and I post anything from silly memes to fandom rants to why I'm currently stuck on the toilet for half an hour. I usually put most of the TMI/controversial stuff under a labeled cut, though. Point is, I don't hold back, so you should be prepared for that.

Oh man, my partner has this tiny, fluffy rescue cat named Hana at his mom's that they got because they needed a cat to rid their old house of pests. She was like 8 when they got her, but she looked like a kitten (she still kinda does, but her age is showing in her face now). My partner has a ton of stories of this cat downing bats, mice, squirrels, chipmunks, moles - any rodents that could get into that house, Hana caught. She never actually went outside, which says just as much about the house itself as it does about her hunting skills. Mostly she downed bats. This is her, with a paper bag for size comparison. (http://imgur.com/8fiSSl.jpg) She's mostly made of fur. But yeah, when I read your comment to him, he said that "Atilla Spartacus" should've been her name XD
