When I say "herp," y'all say "derp!"
Oct. 27th, 2010 02:46 amName: Tom Williams (Formerly Evan)
Age: 20
Location: Franklin(summer)/Evansville(school), IN
How do you identify?: Pansexual meatbag.
Interests/hobbies: Odd/eclectic music and instruments, writing/reading, performance, parody, art/crafting (specifically Perler Beads!), biking, cooking, photography, singing, science-fiction, opera, a cappella music, zines, anything large-scale that could possibly brighten peoples' day. Also, bizarrely, serial killers and metaphysics. Oh yeah, and being totally derpy all the time forever. Derp.
Favourite books: Abarat, They Year of Yes, Fight Club, Oryx and Crake, As I Lay Dying, The Thran, The Saga of the Volsungs.
Favorite poets: Andrea Gibson, Ken Arkind, X. J. Kennedy, Dorothea Grossman, Margaret Atwood, Danielle Weeks
Favourite films: Shortbus, Ten-Inch Hero, Wristcutters: A Love Story, Inception, Star Trek, Sin City, Cashback. Indie/experimental films, and I'm a sucker for cheesy romances :p Genre-defying movies, character studies, vignette collections and arthouse films always rate well with me too. I usually love films that leave my brain in a smouldering lump on the floor, too, and I was raised on Ed Wood. I'm a HUUUUUUUUGE B-movie fan.
Favourite music: I AM A GIGANTIC FUCKING HIPSTER. Arcade Fire, Akeboshi, Beirut, Ben Folds, Counting Crows, Epik High, Fanfarlo, Gogol Bordello, Jack's Mannequin, Michelle Branch, Neutral Milk Hotel, Owl City, Regina Spektor, Jonsi, Sigur Ros, Tori Amos, The Goo Goo Dolls, The Mountain Goats The xx. Also, any band that uses the saw has a special place in my heart.
What would you like to send/receive?: Anything! Email, letters, maybe eventually text messages if we get along well (which I'm sure we will!)I would absolutely love to trade writing, and music (especially if you write your own, but I can't reciprocate that). Family recipes, things that inspire you, good luck charms, things that make you think...
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: I generally communicate better with women, but I'm always up for talking to anyone :) I've actually never had a male penpal, but I'd be really interested to.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Being the ridiculously poor college student that I am, I can only afford to send letters to people in America. HOWEVER! That will soon change, as next semester I'll start being a ridiculously poor college student in Japan. So on the off chance that there are any users based in Japan here, it would be an understatement to say that writing with you while there would be amazing.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Semi-accurate predictions of future events. Shit gets too weird >.> Also, anything relating to spiders.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: Something that surprises me so much I can't even begin to think of it now. Does that sound like a cop-out? I hope not >.>
Anything else you'd like to add?: I'll only be in America until roughly January, but I'd be more than happy to write letters until then, and switch to emails and the occasional postcard or Skype session :D
