How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Oh dear, so I really dislike "identifying" (we can have a conversation about that!), but if I *must* I prefer queer. I have been interested in all genders and sexes so I find it really hard to stick to a simple "bi" label (especially when you date genderqueer people...it doesn't really fit)

Interests/hobbies: languages, linguistics, trying to find a job (as a recent college graduate), cooking, scrapbooking, photoshopping, activism.

Favourite books: Everything by Judith Butler, Oscar Wilde, Miyuki Miyabe, and T.S. Eliot, but also the Harry Potter series, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Kitchen ,among others.

Favourite films: Ma vie en Rose, Benny and Joon, Religulous, Mean Girls (it's a classic!); Tv shows: Doctor Who, Big Bang Theory, Buffy, Weeds, and (most recently) Dexter.

Favourite music: Lady Gaga, OK GO, the new pornographers, KAT-TUN, the sounds, Regina Spektor, La Roux, Greeeen

What would you like to send/receive?: Anything! I love letters (especially with ridiculous stationary and stickers), CDs, and postcards :)

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone, really!

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: All :) I can speak Japanese and took 8 years of German (however, it's been like 4 since I've taken any classes/studied)

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Things not pre-approved by me, which I guess would pretty much based on the situation.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: a hand-written letter with a random/funny personal story.

Anything else you'd like to add?: I haven't really emphasized my interest in queer studies and activism, but I am experienced (and trained in) non-violent protest and have held various leadership positions in the queer community within my University and am very interested in getting to know others who are passionate about or interested in queer/human rights and activism.

Interests/hobbies: I like watching really awful gay movies, and i like to paint and taking photos of my friends. like collecting film cameras from thrift stores...Im the guy in the group with the camera basically. ONE OF MY FAVORITES HOBBIES IS DRINKING COFFEE AT WAFFLE HOUSE. and eating their nutritious food.

Favourite books: right now im reading metamorphosis which im really liking it. I mainly stick to classics so i would have to say my favorite book is Fahrenheit 451 but slaughterhouse-five is really close behind it. BUT i also like the etgar keret's short stories, especially the ones in the Girl on the Fridge. I Am Legend was good too.

Favourite Films: I really loved watching Last life in the Universe. I really like quiet movies but I can also honestly watch Mean Girls and remember it word for word so i dunno what that says about me haha. The Devil Wears Prada i can watch over and over again. Miyazaki films are awesome.

Favourite music: right now im falling in love with Carla Bruni, shes so pretty. The Morning Benders, Belle and Sebastian, Camera obscura...haha anything that deals with crying.

What would you like to send/receive?: i would like to get photos with handwritten notes on the back of them. postcards would be cool.

Queermail mixtape/mix-CD trade!

Okay all! I am making a Queermail mixtape/mix-cd/letter trade so that we can all make some new friends!

All you got to do is reply to this thread some time this week and say whether you'd like make/receive a mix-TAPE (as in cassette tape) or a mix-CD (as in CD-R).

Next week - I'll aim to leave it up for 7 days, so probably sometime around the 6th July - I will pair everybody up RANDOMLY and post the pairings. Find your partner, PM them, swap addresses and make/send eachother your mixes.

Why not add in a letter? Or decorate the mix artwork? Or send some extra little goodies to introduce yourself?

Rules: 

1) This is a WORLDWIDE trade. If you sign up then please be aware that you might be paired with somebody on the other side of the planet. If this is a problem then please don't sign up - why not find somebody closer to you and then PM them directly and suggest a private trade? I used to organise these trades regularly and pairing people who would only mail to certain countries got too complicated so I'm scrapping it.

2) Please only sign up if you can fulfill your promise. Make sure you can afford postage, have the equipment and ability to make/send your mix, make sure you have a little time to spare next week.

3) Please include a tracklisting. So annoying finding great new music but not knowing what/who it is!

4) Be aware that you could be paired with ANYBODY, wherever in the world, whatever age/gender/sexuality. I will pretty much pair-up people entirely randomly - except will aim to pair tape people with tape people, and CD people with CD people. If you want to trade with somebody in particular, just message them directly! We're all here to make friends! :)

This is just a nice way to make friends, find some new music, receive something nice in the mail. Don't be shy :)

How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) I'm a bisexual female, not really too into labels, though, especially since bisexuals tend to get a bad rap sometimes. I've found that some people who identify as gay accuse bisexuals of clinging to bisexuality in order to try to "pass" and thus benefit from heterosexual privilege, while people who identify as straight sometimes discount bisexuality as just meaning that you want to have your cake and eat it too. Neither of these are the case for me -- I just like people! And sex! And what equipment someone is packing below the belt is the least important part of the attraction equation for me. :) < / soapbox>

Interests/hobbies: I love to read! I am learning to speak/read/write Arabic. I used to ballroom dance, although not lately. I love going to see live music, and love living in Austin where there is live music every night of the week. Passionate about human rights and social justice, and particularly devoted to the pursuit of human rights in the treatment of Palestinians. I am a leftist marxist feminist, probably third wave if you wanna dissect it that closely -- I'm all about intersectionality (looking at the spaces of oppression and privilege where class, race, sexuality and gender intersect).
