Jun. 21st, 2010 05:10 pmName: kim
Age: 22
Location: georgia, USA, though I'm in virginia most of the year
How do you identify?: queer female with a preference for women
Interests/hobbies: music, art, foreign languages and culture, reading, grammar, writing, astronomy, theater (watching, not acting), math, amigurumi, singing terribly, photography, drawing, psychology, atheism, discovery health, and being a member of the queer community. capital letters irritate me unduly.
Favourite books: the perks of being a wallflower, the elegance of the hedgehog, blindness, watchmen
Favourite films: watchmen, mean girls, gran torino, v for vendetta, formula 17, rain man, imagine me & you, love actually, the hangover, the dark knight
Favourite music: tvxq/dbsg/thsk, missy higgins, basshunter, 4minute, eiffel 65 (old-school!), lady gaga, journey, utada hiker, rihanna, emmy rossum, bond, rent, wicked, avenue q, pippin. i love just about everything vivaldi has composed, most notably l'estro armonico x for four violins.
What would you like to send/receive?: letters, homemade items
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: anyone =)
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: anywhere–i'd be especially interested to hear about people's experiences outside the u.s., but would love to hear from people stateside as well. i read english, japanese, a passable amount of german, and an embarrassingly small amount of korean.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: nothing explicit, please!
What would be in your dream letter or package?: letters, photos you've taken, homemade items–whatever you feel represents you or the queer identity =)
Anything else you'd like to add?: i have been out to my family for over six years now, since i was in 10th grade. i'm a japanese language major at u.va. so people tend to assume i'm into anime and all that, but i'm not. i just love learning new languages and expanding my horizons; korean the third language i've studied formally. =) i'm also an atheist, though i was raised presbyterian–i am not a spiritual person, but i don't reject those who are.

Date: 2010-06-21 09:25 pm (UTC)My name is Rachel, I'm 21 and from Chicago. You seem like a really interesting person, so I thought I'd say hello. I also love languages, although I know nothing about Japanese or Korean. Ich spreche Deutsch, aber nicht gut. I speak a passable amount of Italian (from six weeks spent studying it in Italy) and some pretty crappy French (a week in Paris and a semester of French language).
I am an opera singer, so a knowledge of languages is something of a career requirement. I love that you have musical theatre and classical music in your "Music" section. Don't see that very often. :)
I am also an atheist. Raised Catholic.
Anyway, if you'd like to be penpals, my email is rbudde2 at gmail dot com. :) I look forward to hearing from you!

Date: 2010-06-21 10:13 pm (UTC)A little bit about me: I'm a photographer's assistant. I love traveling (4 foreign countries and counting), and I especially love road trips. I also enjoy baking & cake decorating, but I still need a lot of practice with the latter.
My LJ is actually a private/personal thing, so I don't use it to talk to people. If you'd like to contact me, my email is myrholt@gmail.com. Thanks!

Date: 2010-06-22 08:30 pm (UTC)i love pretty much anything artistic–i played violin through middle and high school, so i really came to appreciate classical music. my dad did theater his whole life, so i've also had a good deal of exposure to musicals. i admittedly don't know a whole lot about opera, only that it's really impressive to hear. =)
we should definitely be pen pals! i'm khp7u at virginia dot edu.

Date: 2010-06-22 08:49 pm (UTC)wow, it'd be great to work in photography. my dad's taught me some of the basics, but i have a long way to go. =P i love traveling, too–i haven't been out of the country in a few years, but i'm going to be studying for a semester in nagasaki, japan this fall. and i envy anyone with baking or cooking skills, seriously. i've destroyed easy mac, and that's about as simple as it gets. XD
my email is khp7u at virginia dot edu. talk to you soon!
