Give France a chance ? (my, I'm a poet)
Jun. 22nd, 2010 12:15 amName: Clara, but I love nicknames
Age: 19, going on my 20
Location: Paris, France
How do you identify?: I'd say lesbian, but I can't be sure since I've never been in a relationship.
Interests/hobbies: Reading, writing, cooking (especially sweet stuff), walking aimlessly around the city or through the nature, talking about everything (even though I'm usually shy at first) with allowed confortable silences. Probably more but that I can't think of right now.
Favourite books: Oh, too many. I'm passionate about french litterature so I love a lot of it, especially from the second half of the 18th century to the first half of the 20th one. That doesn't mean I don't like anything else, but I admit I'm a bit difficult. I particularly love Proust, Mauriac, Laforgue, and also Violette Leduc and Haruki Murakami. But if it counts, my favorite reading is poetry, mostly from the 19th : Rimbaud, Lautréamont, Dickinson, Wilde. Right, I also love english litterature, though I don't know much about it yet. Except Dickens and Salinger (I know, he's american :p).
Favourite films: Movies have never attracted me as much as books, but I like Burton, Tarantino, Almodovar, Eytan Fox, the Cohen brothers, Woody Allen, Gus Van Sant... and absolutely love Lars Von Trier. Star Wars and Matrix (only the first one) are good too.
Favourite TV shows: I don't own a TV but I watch lots (too much) of shows on the internet. I'm particularly a huge fan of Doctor Who (seriously, british shows are the best), and I like True Blood a lot.
Favourite story topics: I love science-fiction, and everything fantasy and adventures, but what I prefer is good phycologic analysis. I hate naive love stories without subtlety and everything cliché in general (but non-cliché love stories are welcome, especially if it's about a more profound relationship). Erotism is good, as long as it can be seen as art and not only some way to sexually please oneself (it can be straight, gay, lesbian, or whatever well-described kink, except if it contains non-mutual or humiliating sex).
Favourite music: I like everything. I mean it. It depends on my mood. It can be classical music, pop, rock, disco, metal, salsa, reggae, mystic, old french singers, ... Till it's good in its own style!
What would you like to send/receive?: Oh, anything you'd like. Emails, letters, stories, pictures, even cakes!
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Nice open minded people like you, of course. It doesn't matter if you don't particularly share my interests, I like to discover new people, new visions of the world.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere around the world. Like I said, I love to discover other cultures and languages. I speak french, english, and a bit (a really tiny bit) of german, but am willing to learn any other language, if you'd like to introduce me to yours :)
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") The usual: nothing pornographic (but aesthetic erotism is fine if we've agreed about it beforehand) and nothing illegal/mean/etc.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: As long as there's some heart in it, anything'll send me to heaven.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I'm sorry if I made any mistake, my english isn't perfect (yet!). Also, I'm a very shy person, but I'd love to try and open up. On the internet it's fine, but if we meet in person you'll discover that I am not confortable with my body, nor for myself nor for any physical contacts with others, but I'm trying, really trying to get past this (please don't run away!)
Picture (optional): I don't like putting my face all over the internet, but if you wish I can send you (decent, obviously) pictures in private.
Looking forward to speaking with you :)

Date: 2010-06-23 02:40 pm (UTC)Right so there's my terrible attempt at writing in French without any accents or anything >_<. My grammar and vocabulary is no doubt atrocious!
I'd love to correspond with you in French, have a go at improving, and you're welcome to write back in English. I'd love to talk about literature. I don't read enough English lit. let alone in French, it's something I should definitely do more. You're welcome to friend add if you like :)

Date: 2010-06-24 08:23 pm (UTC)I've never read Colette, which is a real shame for a lesbian feminist french woman interested in literature! We'll discover her together :)
If I had a recommandation for a first reading in french literature, it would be Jean Giono (especially Un roi sans divertissement) : his sentences aren't too long and complicated like most classical writers, and I love the atmosphere of his books. But, well, it's quite peculiar too, so I'm not sure you'd like it. I'll think about some other authors.
Anyway, I'm adding you!
(and who on earth is the lady behind the fence on your LJ layout? I can't put my finger on it!)

Date: 2010-06-24 11:14 pm (UTC)Yes, let's! I shall try to get hold of her novels asap. Also I shall definitely check out Giono, thank you! I think a visit to the library is in order :)
I'm not sure who to recommend, English lit. -wise, but I do have a list I got from somewhere of 'classics' I can send it to you if you like?
The lady is Amanda Seyfried in Chloe
