queermailI'm really glad this community was highlighted! i'm trying to get back into sending packages and mail to people so its excellent timing. i think i would start by being lj friends, then move on to snail mail.

How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) bisexual female (but that in itself has so many potential meanings i think just queer will do.)
Interests/hobbies: reading, feminism, collecting my little ponies, everything vintage...clothes and furniture, interior design, veganism, ballet, drawing, illustration, drinking gin!, going to art galleries and museums, journalism, dancing badly, cycling, toys, photography, record collecting, astronomy, comic books, morrissey, going out every night...
Favourite books: jeanette winterson, angela carter, amy tan, grahame green, scott f fitzgerald, amistead maupin, douglas coupland, truman capote, anais nin, jeffery eugindes...at the moment i am reading the famished road by ben okri.
Favourite films: donnie darko, get real, but i'm a cheerleader, pretty in pink, empire records, john waters films, welcome to the dollhouse, velvet goldmine, mallrats, doom generation, sleepy hollow, election, ghostworld, josie and the pussycats, wong kar wai, hedwig and the angry inch, amatuer, mysterious skin, ma vie en rose, the piano teacher, marie antoniette, downfall, this is england, me without you, C.R.A.Z.Y
Favourite music: ,mid ninties glam twee pop riot girl bleepy electro boy girl vocals vocoders post hardcore samples eighties indie glock rock italo disco casio grind,.......angelica, braid, brand new, kenickie, superchunk, sufjan stevens, mineral, mc lars, hole, gregory and the hawk, modern life is war, the weakerthans, muscles, capn jazz, it hugs back, the paper chase, prefab sprout, small brown bike, maritime, spearmint, the lapse, the blow, RAINER MARIA ....are my favourites
What would you like to send/receive?: fun stuff! letters, vegan sweets, stickers, photos, badges, mixes.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: anyone a little bit different. anyone who is fun and fierce and genuine. the usual motley crew of humanity. morrissey fans! pretty girls yeah...
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: everyone yeh?
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") meat!
What would be in your dream letter or package?: records on vinyl i can't find...old band shirts that are sun bleached with worn holes, handmade postcards, post its, labels with nothing attached, shells, glass, hairslides, photographs of people you don't know...

I've always wanted to visit Scotland, and would love to hear about what it's like there, especially from a cute fellow queer girl's perspective--and hopefully even see more photos. My aunt and cousin live there, but I don't keep in contact with them all that often.
Have you lived there your whole life, or did you move there at some point?
You have awesome taste too, although I feel like that's a cliche whenever I respond with that. I'm more of a Smiths fan than a Morrissey fan, though, but that's only because I haven't heard much of his solo stuff.
I would love to friend/write to you if you'd like. :D Unfortunately, I don't post much in my LJ proper lately except to vent about things, though I'm trying to change that. I would definitely love to exchange letters the old-fashioned penpal way, though!

scotland is not too remarkable tbh. i'm from glasgow but i moved to london to go to university when i was 17 and i just moved back last year so its been like moving to a new city. its a great city to live in but a little boring if yr queer.
you should get on hearing his solo stuff *controversially* i think its better than the smiths, not as good musically but a lot more personal. although his recent things have been dire. i recommend viva hate.

Date: 2010-07-06 06:10 pm (UTC)if yr cousin lives here you should get back in touch. its not an amazing city but its great to visit. i think tourists are always surprised because by reputation its a pretty rough city (highest number of stabbings in europe, its home to the biggest drug problems and the most poverty in britain too) but the architecture is really amazing, and the people are super friendly.
