Meeeeeeeeeeeee!
Jun. 21st, 2010 03:18 amName: Rachel
Age: 21
Location: Chicago, IL
How do you identify?: Lesbian
Marital status: Single
Interests/hobbies: I just finished my undergrad with a degree in voice. So I can kinda sing a little bit. I've started taking guitar lessons, which I really love. It's nice to be able to do something without having to be good at it. It's nice to do something for ME. I'm learning to cook, but am woefully bad at it. I set Ramen noodles on fire once. I also love to travel. I lived in Italy for six weeks a couple of years ago and I still miss it every day. I have occasional fantasies about quitting opera entirely and making a living as a straight theatre actor, doing plays and stuff.
Favourite books: 1984, Shakespeare (Much Ado About Nothing is my favorite), My Sisters Keeper, Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series, currently reading "Eat, Pray, Love". All kinds of stuff.
Favourite films: The Blues Brothers, most Marx Brothers movies, Casablanca, Pride and Prejudice, Much Ado About Nothing. Anything music-related because I am kind of a nerd.
Favourite music: I'm a musician by trade- classical and opera, but I love mostly anything that has a melody. Jazz, blues, folk, country, showtunes.
What would you like to send/receive?: I love the idea of handwritten letters. I know people don't do that anymore, but it's making a comeback, I swear. Along with all that crappy 80s clothing.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Cute girls. People who are interesting, fun to talk to, funny, etc. Anybody and everybody, really.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, etc. Whatever.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Can't really think of anything.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: Oh, I have no idea. Something nice and thoughtful. Something specific to me. I love socks. The weirder the better.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I am a newly out lesbian just trying to get to know the community, meet some new friends. :)

Date: 2010-06-22 05:36 pm (UTC)And Much Ado about nothing is one of my favorites as well. I played Benedict in a rendition of it in...8th grade I think. None of our boys coudl act very well, so we had the reverse of a traditional Shakesperian play, no men, all women.

Date: 2010-06-23 12:06 am (UTC)And I love your "Much Ado" story. That sounds awesome. Playing Beatrice is one of the things on my Bucket List. It's such a great play and she's such a great character.
You said you like Midsummer? I have a friend who's playing Helena in the opera version this fall at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. I'm really excited to go see it.
Wanna be penpals? My email is rbudde2 at gmail dot com. :-)
