Name: Helen
Age: 20
Location: UK
How do you identify? Female. Queer in as far as it means ‘not confined to heterosexual norms’. I actually spend most of my time being heterosexual. But I have many LGBTQ friends, and a lot of people assume I’m gay.
Interests/hobbies: writing, politics, mermaids, coffee, reading, cats, red wine, cooking, cooking with red wine, philosophy, driving, more mermaids, the sea, the sea!
Favourite books/authors: I’m an English graduate. So naturally my favourites are Diana Wynne Jones, Meg Rosoff, Robin McKinley, Chris Wooding... (I mean, I also like Milton, Shelley, Defoe, Lawrence and all. And Angela Carter who’s sort of the middle ground. And Beowulf.)
Favourite films: A. Knight’s. Tale. Fact.
Favourite music: I like folk guitar and 80s beats. I like mad women with gigantic red hair who sing nonsensical lyrics. I like cheesy rock and experimental jazz classical shizzle, and, y’know, like, stuff. Lots and lots of stuff. I don’t like Coldplay.
What would you like to send/receive?
Who would you like to send and receive mail from? Anyone capable of being interesting : P ? I’ll try to be interesting back.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to? ANYWHERE. Dear god let me escape from this hole!

This is the face of the modern Women’s Institute donchaknow. I’m in the green dress with the diagram of ingrown pubic hairs. F the patriarchy etc.

What would you like to send/receive?
- Mix CDs. I really need some decent driving mix CDs (the sort of thing that makes you put your foot on the pedal and recklessly overtake unwitting cyclists).
- Stories (or plays, or poems, but not emo pomes pls kthx.)
- Pictures. Specially mermaids. And cats, maybe? Mercats?
- Recipes for stuff I won’t have cooked. I like spicy food. If it doesn’t include chilli, I will add chilli.
- Book recommendations (if you didn’t get that ^, it was YA fantasy. Also sci-fi, magic realism, anything clever, and anything that messes with genre norms. Gratuitous gritty realism and books about writers with writer’s block flip me off. I guess I’m book-queer too).
- Actual letters work as well. I also like surprises. And no, “surprises” does not mean pictures of cock.
