Name: Laura
Age: 24
Location: Traveling a lot at the moment, will be back in western Michigan for a few months starting in September, then who knows. I'll be in California for another month or so.
How do you identify?: I'm pretty much just queer :) I'm pretty gender fluid and engaged to a wonderful trans woman.
Interests/hobbies: Music, cello, singing, travel, learning about different places and cultures (right now that's mostly Ireland and Lithuania), learning stuff, general geekery, homesteading, radio (spoken word, audio books, radio dramas, talk radio, good music, whatev), good conversation and friendly debate.
Favourite books: His Dark Materials, The Historian, MZ Bradley's Avalon series, CS Lewis' Space Trilogy. Tolkien, Jane Austen, WB Yeats. Fantasy and historical fiction are my favorite, but I also love non-fiction books about history, religion, culture and music.
Favourite films: Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, Being John Malkovich, Star Wars, Twister, Contact, Serenity. TV: Doctor Who (anything at all related to it, really), Joss Whedon shows, Bryan Fuller shows, Castle, Bones and Mythbusters. And I watch more History/Discovery/NatGeo than is probably healthy.
Favourite music: I really, really love music: weird music, vaguely popular music... Anything on cello, musical theater, classical music (mostly anything before the 17th century and after the 18th), rock, symphonic metal, singer/songwriter, folk, traditional ethnic, folk fusions, chanting. Anything but modern country, most rap/hip hop and Disney music from the last five years, really lol
What would you like to send/receive?: Pretty much anything, really. Though at this point I'm going to have to start with email, as I don't have any kind of permanent address. I do love snail mail though, and little things (I love putting stickers on my cello case).
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone who doesn't mind talking about a lot of different things; especially who wouldn't mind venturing into those "forbidden" topics of religion and politics, as I love learning about what other people think and believe, or getting into heated discussions every now and then (it's really all in good fun when this happens, honest!).
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Locality isn't really an issue, though after December I'll probably be living abroad for a few years, so just a warning that my permanent address might end up being an international one soon.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") - actually, that's pretty accurate :)
What would be in your dream letter or package?: The best package I've ever gotten was when a friend sent me a drawing she made me, a dragon figuring she'd painted and a bunch of poetry she'd written, along with her letter... if we're going for dream!
Anything else you'd like to add?: Like I said, right now email is the best bet, but I should be settled back down in a couple of months.
