Name: Amara (For all intents and purposes on the internet anyway)

Age: 19

Location: Atlanta, GA

How do you identify?: Lesbian.

Interests/hobbies: Well for starters, I have a deep passion for Art. I love it in all forms, drawn or written, and have a strong enough passion for it that come next year I'll be transferring to the art school of my dreams to learn more. Tied to that is my love of sewing and creating things, such as costumes and props from cartoons or peridiocal times. Even more fun is actually wearing them! I'm also really into video games, writing, anime, reading, translating and learning old languages, and film alongside art history.

Favourite books: Honestly I love anything written by Chuck Palahniuk, especially Invisible Monsters and Lullaby. Old myths and epics, such as The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri and Mythology by Edith Hamilton are books I can just curl up and immerse myself in no problem. I also keep an open eye around the net for new upstarting writers, as I truly love reading and can't get enough of it.

Favourite films: I'm a HUGE movie junkie, and innacurate as it was, I will always love Memoirs of a Geisha, and same applies for the book! The Libertine, LOTR, 300 and Kickass are a sample of the variety of movies i find myself attracted to and a fan of. I'm really into asian horror these days too(as well as regular horror/thrillers), both serious and over the top, such as Tokyo Gore Police, Hair Extensions and One Missed Call. Animated movies can't be forgotten either, what with Ghibli movies, Pixar, Old school Disney movies, and Japanese anime out on the market. Kiki's Delivery Service, Toy Story, The Land Before Time, Sleeping Beauty, The Cat Returns, Eureka Seven: Pocketful of Rainbows, and Ghost in the Shell are some of my favorites from that area. So yeah, I'm a huge movie junkie, and as long as the story is great or hilariously bad, I'm there.

Favourite music: These days I'm a big fan of korean pop music, and I'm a huge fan of the Wonder Girls, Brown Eyed Girls, Girls Generation, Shinee, Clazziquai, and the list grows with each new discovery. Outside of that though, my music tastes are pretty broad. Ignoring rap and country, My tastes range from Drake to Frank Sinatra, and not even instrumental and atmospheric music is left out of the mix. I love everything with a good sound or catchy lyrics.

What would you like to send/receive?: I'd love to send snail mail, maybe even a package or two depending. Little trinkets and drawings can be pick me ups in the most unexpected times, and I'd love to know I brought some cheer to a stranger while getting to know them.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone at all! I'd love to get different mail from all sorts of people, seeing as while I have a lot of accepting friends which I'm very grateful for, I don't really know others that are gay/bi/pan/etc. But really, I'd love to talk to and get mail from anyone really. Most of the mail we get these days is nothing but bills or trash, and I'd love to know the spirit of writing letters to other outside of the internet still exists. Plus it would be fun!

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: I would be happy just getting mail from my own country to be honest. But getting mail from different countries would be really exciting too! Places like Italy or England or Germany, or even in Australia! It would just be a reminder that we're not alone in whatever state or country we live in, and a thrill to see how far it came. Sadly, aside from knowing very basic Italian and some Latin, I only know english, so I'd only be able to read letters written in english alone. I'd still love to write to who I can though, and have the same happen in exchange.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Haha, nothing Illegal? That's about the only thing I can think of that I wouldn't want sitting in my mailbox or opening.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: Anything, as long as it's sent with well wishes and good intentions. Be it drawings, food, small trinkets or cds...even just the letter itself would be a gift to me. I'd especially love it if its something about where my penpal is from or cultural things, I find things like that really interesting. :)

Anything else you'd like to add?: I've never done the whole penpal deal before, though I've always wanted to. And a group project like this seems like just the right time to jump in and do it! So I might sound a little too eager, but that's just because I'm happy I get to finally be a part of something like this. Also I'm a huge dork...BEWARE. :B

Ee, awesome, it looks like we have a lot of similar interests!

As a hopeful upstarting author (and occasionally an upstart of an author), it pleases me greatly to see that you are looking to give new people a chance.

I've also just recently discovered Girl's Generation. I've been dancing around my apartment to "Run, Devil, Run" lately.

Want to be friends, and maybe snail mail penpals later?

:D

Well, I pretty much saw the sarcasm, anime and video games part. The fact that you're a dork also makes me pertty happy. We seem to have a lot in common, so I'd like to perhaps consider being email penpals, at teh least. Drop me a comment if you're interested, please.
