Jun. 21st, 2010 08:42 amName: Sarah
Age: 25
Location: Boston metro area, USA
How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) female, bisexual though I'd prefer a term less gender-binary but "pansexual" always sounds to me like I should be attracted to chairs or something. Um. "Queer"?
Interests/hobbies: Spinning (the kind that produces yarn, not the bike thing), art of various kinds, roundsinging, children's/YA libraries, filk, religious geekery, SF/F geekery, books, whimsy
Favourite books: Can I do favorite authors instead? Ursula LeGuin, Garth Nix, Shaun Tan, Arthur Waskow, Terry Pratchett, JRR Tolkien, E. Nesbitt
Favourite films: Dave, Ever After, Star Trek IV,
Favourite music: I particularly like filk and international folk music
What would you like to send/receive?: letters, music, tea, maybe some sort of traveling sketchbook-type thing?
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Pretty much anyone!
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: No strong preference...I used to speak German quite fluently (lived in Germany senior year of high school), so it would be nice to have someone to practice with.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") bacon or shrimp, but that would be sort of difficult to send anyway ;-)

Date: 2010-06-21 12:51 pm (UTC)Seemed like a no brainer to me. A geeky spinner! I'm guessing drop spindle seeing as that was what you have in your icon. That's a neat looking spindle too. What's the text around the whorl?

Date: 2010-06-21 01:32 pm (UTC)I spin on a hand me down Ashford Scholar wheel, love it to bits :) But I've also got an Ashford drop spindle too when I want some portability.
I'd love to get to try a few other kinds of wheels since the Scholar is the only one I've ever used. I'm going to Rhinebeck in October and I'm kind of hoping I can try a few others while there.

Date: 2010-06-28 05:32 am (UTC)I've always wanted to learn to spin. I owned sheep for a very short period of time, and I meant to learn, but we moved and sold the sheep and I just never got around to it after that. So sad. I'm hoping to pick it up one day when I'm out of college and have more time and money to buy a spindle.
Anyway, I just thought I would say hi and let you know that you aren't the only person who has heard of LeGuin.
Nice meeting you.
