Name: Ed. (Explained a bit below.) People that want to give me a nickname more of my own, and less of a character, tend to call me Icarus or Ica for short.

Age: 24. I'm a scorpio, Wood Ox - for anyone that information might interest.

Location: Boston area, MA - United States

How do you identify?:

I grew up bi-gendered, as in - having two personalities, one male and one female. I won't get into why or how that changed because it's long and might make some people uncomfortable, but feel free to ask if you're curious and I'll answer you in private (PM or email, likely.) Emotionally, I'm basically pansexual - I don't believe in restricting myself to either gender, but I do have a tendency to fall for genderqueer/fluid/trans individuals more than anyone else. I can develop crushes on both males and females, though. Physically, I'm complicated. For starters, I'm asexual in that the idea of actual sex kind of squicks me out (with either sex), and I never find people 'hot' so much as 'cute/pretty/attractive' in the same sort of way a person can admire a beautiful animal/flower/artwork. Not being attracted to people like that doesn't stop me from knowing what my body is into though, and I could probably easily identify as gay male or straight female overall. Because my identity is so fluid, it's hard to pick just one of those, I kind of feel like a homosexual male wanting to be a hetereosexual female, trapped in the wrong body. How masculine/feminine I feel varies on a daily basis, so I don't intend to ever actually undergo corrective surgery but I mostly tell people I identify as neither or genderfluid when asked, and generally don't offer information about my physical body's sexual identity.

Interests/hobbies:

Writing, this seems to be common here. Drawing, reading (not so much anymore, but I love suggestions to try and get back into it or talking about past books of mutual interest). Movies. I work at Blockbuster, movies are part of my job - I rarely watched them before getting hired, but here I am now trying to cram 10+ into a week around work and other hobbies. I have no problem meeting and socializing with people who have Netflix or use Redbox, but if you can't help but tell me about how superior my competition is- I'd rather not get acquainted at all. I get that enough from my customers, and I find it to be kind of disrespectful. Anime, manga, roleplaying. You know, LJ online RP, kind of like writing communities? If you're into that sort of thing I would love to get to know you. I play Evony... God knows why. Photography (from behind the camera, I hate pictures of me), eating and being healthy, concern for the community. I don't do any volunteer work, but I'm hoping to get into it once I get a regular schedule again. Music. Music is my life, my addiction - my everything. Silence makes me stir crazy, I will listen to basically anything although my taste in music changes with my mood I rarely hate something I've loved in the past. My animals, I have a sheltie, a leopard spotted gecko, and a corn snake. I love cats, rats, fish, birds - but it's been awhile since I've had any of those. I'm an insomniac, and I actually love it. I don't find it to be a sleeping disorder so much as a way of life, some animals can be nocturnal or diurnal by nature, and I feel like humans fall under that category too. I have a thing for anything in the World War era of life, fire arms, stories, clothing, houses - you name it, I'll probably love to see/hear/read about it.

God, I'm sure there's so much more I'm not including. If you have a question about any hobbies I have or might have - feel free to ask.

Favourite books:

Dragonlance, Animorphs, Chicken Soup, Speak, The Black Unicorn, A Walk to Remember, some Harry Potter - I'll admit it, His Dark Materials, The Lovely Bones (you'll notice most of these are from the 90s/early 2000 period). No, I don't read Twilight, but I have (for obvious reasons) watched the movies. I like medieval and fantasy based things overall. Dragonlance was the only thing I read for something like six years. I also loved the books we read in school with exceptions (hated Great Expectations, loved Tale of Two Cities - that sort of thing.) Why can't I remember anything else, I used to read obsessively as a kid...

Favourite films:

A Walk to Remember, What Dreams May come, Sin City, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Up, anything Titus (comedian). I love stand up comedy more than movies, really. There's probably only a handful of movies I loved enough to go out of my way to own. I don't tend to read or watch anything more than once. Disney, I love Disney stuff - especially the older Pixar, Toy Story, Finding Nemo. The Lion King, Little Mermaid era - uh, Lilo & Stitch... and Oliver & Company was my favorite movie ever for awhile. The Shrek series (again, the era helps), A Knight's Tale, Ever After - A Cinderella Story, I will watch anything with Brendan Fraser in it. Robinhood - Men In Tights, Obviously: Conqueror of Shambala because I'm a FMA geek and the era. I don't care how bad it was, okay. Fox movies like All Dogs Go to Heaven, Ferngully (I like kids movies, can you tell.), Mrs. Doubtfire, Jack, Jacob the Liar, Young Victoria, Daybreakers, Gothika, Stolen

Favourite music:

Absolute favorite? Grunge/gothic rock. I can't pick between those two, don't make me. I will listen to anything, though.

Incomplete list of bands. (Warning: by incomplete, I do not mean 'short' by any means.)

Since I know I will never cover everything I did try to include a few random examples of a variety of styles I enjoy. I also spent three years listening to nothing but the FMA soundtracks, which include J-rock, J-pop, classical music and a Russian orchestra for anyone that might be curious.

What would you like to send/receive?:

I would love someone that would like to send hand written letters and receive e-mails in response, if there's anyone that wants to write letters but not comfortable giving out their address. Responses will also be much quicker from me, this way - but it's up to anyone that responds.

I'm cool with anything, meeting, LJ friends, texts (not phone calls, sorry) and AIM too - but I am nervous 'in person' or anything immediate response-wise so IMing, commenting on LJ, phone calls and meeting in person are very direct and anxiety inducing for me. It doesn't mean I'm opposed to it, just- bare with me if we do it? Sharing music, movies, anime, would be a plus - whether actually sending packages or just suggestions.

Also. I have a PO Box if that matters to anyone. I can give out a real address, the mail would just never get to me, so it's easier to PO it.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?:

Anyone I haven't scared away yet.

I'm pretty open, honestly. I'm looking for more friends. Friends that are into RPing, anime, or cosplay would be wonderful since those are hobbies I need someone with a mutual interest in. As much as I don't want to get ahead of myself, I'd love to get to know people who might eventually like to meet (either travel or someone local) - especially for cons.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?:

Anyone who speaks and understand English enough to communicate, I'm not picky at all. People from other countries would be interesting to get to know and share the similarities/differences in location/weather/lifestyle. I love learning new things and just listening/learning/absorbing - as well as having someone to talk about things I'm comfortable with so... very open and flexible.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?:

Um, food for starters. That's a bridge we could cross when we get to it. If we're going to be swapping addresses - what to, and not to send, depending on how well we know each other.

What would be in your dream letter or package?:

Music, information to learn - I love to listen to people talk about their lives, or what interests them. It also gives me a subject to respond with. Inside jokes, once we get to know each other sending little care packages or even letters with a certain quote in it ... Little things like that make my life.

Anything else you'd like to add?:

For instance, I am pro-life. I mention this because it's listed above, and I want to get it out of the way first. I do not feel obligated to force this opinion on others, and I don't want anyone that's pro-choice to treat me with disrespect or assume anything about me from this information other than that I think everyone should have a chance at life. I am so ignorant to politics I don't even know how to label myself there and although I'm highly spiritual and believe in the possibility of something out there, I don't think it's God, I don't pretend to know what it is, or if it even really exists.

If you'd like to share your opinions on this matter I don't mind listening, to get to know you - but I'm not open to debates on the topic nor will I defend my opinions.

I'm obsessed with Fullmetal Alchemist. I go by Ed. Edward usually, for simplicity my friends tend to call me 'he' because of this. It really depends on the situation. Yes, it is because of FMA - no, it is not because Ed is my favorite character, he's not. The main reason for this is that I tend to just go by the name of the character I RP. When I RPed mostly Animorphs I went by Tobias, I hate my real name so I don't tend to give it out, and yes it's for that reason more than internet safety.

Picture:

I'm kind of opposed to posting pictures publicly for the world to see (and I only have cosplay pictures anyway) but you're welcome to ask after awhile if we start communicating.

And finally, sorry for the length.

Hey hey. Apparently you're attracting English people. My name is Rachael, I'm 28, and I live in the South West of England. You seem like an incredibly interesting person to get to know. I rp online (mostly one-on-one) with my best friend, but in the Harry Potter, QaF, Twilight, and TH fandoms.

Anyway, if you fancy a chat, I'm up for it - I LOVE exchanging snail mail, so that would be my ultimate preference, though I'm happy to exchange emails to start with if you felt more comfortable.
Ttfn!
