Name:  Amber

Age: 22

Location: Texas, USA

How do you identify?: Female. Sexually, I suppose I am more pansexual than anything. I feel weird using the term, since I’ve only just become aware of it, but it is what it is. My friends also refer to me as a hippy. Free love and all that jazz. While my first and most recent real experience with polyamory… didn’t turn out so well, I still believe that it suits my lifestyle.

Interests/hobbies: I have a sort of coin collection and a book collection. I’m also addicted to reading, insane cooking frenzies, music of almost any kind, art, writing, anime, taekwondo, and zombies. The usual. Oh, and my cat. I’m a crazy cat lady in the making.

Favourite books: The Last Unicorn, Dream of the Red Chamber, Memoirs of a Geisha, Born Confused, the Harry Potter series, and anything by Dorothy Parker. I love most books, just for being what they are - the physical representation of someone’s thoughts, feelings, and fantasies. I find everything about them addicting. My first job was in a used book store, and everything about them, from the smell of the pages to the feel of the binding, makes me feel at home. A little cheesy, yes, but still true.

Favourite films: Labyrinth, The Last Unicorn, Seven Samurai, Gone With the Wind, Public Enemies, Inkheart, I Am Legend, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1974 version), V for Vendetta, Velvet Goldmine, The Company of Wolves, Heathers, anything by George A. Romero, The King and I, etc., etc., etc.

Favourite TV: I honestly don’t watch much TV. My cable box has been unplugged for almost six months, and I haven’t once missed it. There are shows however, that I feel should be mentioned. NCIS, True Blood (Yes, I know, it’s my dirty little vice.), Supernatural, and Star Trek are instant wins. Farscape will always be my one, true love.

Favourite music: Dir en grey, Guns N’ Roses, David Bowie, and Sinatra are always at the top of the list. Rock, of almost any kind. I’m also becoming more open to rap, hip-hop, pop, and techno. Still not a big fan of country music, though.

What would you like to send/receive?: Anything. Snail mail, e-mail, pictures, trinkets, etc. I’ve never had a pen-pal type thing before, so I’m open to just about anything.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone interested in sharing their life. Problems, secrets, moments of extreme happiness, opinions, and so forth.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere in the world.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: I’m kind of iffy on receiving food… Let’s exchange letters first, then we’ll see.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: A book. Seriously, I love them. Maybe an exotic coin or two.

Anything else you'd like to add?: I’m not a Twilight fan, sorry. I wouldn’t mind being friends with one, but I’m afraid I just won’t be able to share your enthusiasm. Sorry. Also, as I said above, I don’t have any experience with pen-pals or letter writing in general. If it takes a while to get a response, I promise it will get there, I’m just trying to get it right. Also, I am a comma whore. Forgive me that, and I will love you forever.

Picture (optional): Forgive the mess in the back corner. My house is literally a perpetual construction zone.

Ooh I've always meant to check out Gundam Wing, but never got around to it.
Hmmm suggestions, well my absolute favourite series is Black Lagoon (about modern day pirates) because it's so unapologetic. I mean, a lot of anime has been kind of dumbed down for younger audiences but BL is just so blunt and witty. Love it. Other than that I do quite like Hellsing (vampires and zombies... can't go wrong), Elfen Lied and Bleach. But then I probably haven't even scraped the surface of all the awesome anime out there. Anime culture isn't big in this country unfortunately =( Not sure I'd be much help with shojo but like you I'm pretty open to anything.

So true XD I think when the zombies come I'll go and hide out with you, you have the right idea. I'll bring the chainsaw.

Yay someone else who likes Velevet Goldmine! Nobody here has ever heard of it which is a huge shame IMO. Such a wonderful, beautiful movie.

What kinds of coins have you collected?

Black Lagoon manga (from what I've read) and anime are almost exactly the same besides how one of the character looks in the first book, and I think some of the events are in a different order in the anime. It's still great though. I'm not sure if there's an Elfen Lied manga, but the anime is so beautiful (but also very violent) and has a great sci-fi story.
Have you seen the Hellsing movies and the series? I was surprised how different they were...

WWZ ey? No, haven't heard of it, but will definitely check it out, thanks =)

Ahaha feel like a pirate =p Every so often at work someone will try to pay with foregin money (usually from New Zealand which isn't so bad, but sometimes Fiji or Indonesia) which is exciting, but unacceptable :( Do you have any Australian money? We have cute little furry animals on our coins. Well... most of them.

First it was the book collection, then the Harry Potter series, then you mentioned V for Vendetta and NCIS followed by Sinatra and then you added that you weren't a Twilight fan and that just totally cemented my belief that you must be a cool person!

Thanks!

Oh yeah, Alan Rickman is just so win. <3 I'm a huge fan, I flew to NYC in April just to see a play his was directing. Thankfully he did a talk before the play and hung out at the stage door afterwards, definitely made the trip worth it.

It is really sad that Sinatra isn't known by a lot of people our age, he's super win. Although, for me, it is more about the songs then the artist. I'm not fan of a lot of artists, mostly I connect with different songs. Sinatra is different though!

friends?
