I am your penpal extraordinaire!
Jun. 28th, 2010 11:11 am Name: I answer to Courtney, Court, and “Hey You”
Age: 24
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
How do you identify?: Female ; bisexual. I’m very politically incorrect when it comes to sexuality labels (or any labels at all for that matter). I do suppose I would qualify as pansexual or polysexual, but I just stick with using the term bisexual. Why? Mostly because it’s easier.
Interests/hobbies: I always draw a blank when filling this part of surveys out. I have so many interests and hobbies that it’s difficult to really sit down and type them up. So here’s a shortened version: books, movies, writing, crafting, and conversing.
Favourite books: The Green Mile, Diary of Anne Frank, Quotable Atheist, Harry Potter series, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Pride and Prejudice, The Kite Runner, Carrie, The Lovely Bones, Where the Sidewalk Ends, Looking for Alaska
Favourite films/TV: Saved!, V for Vendetta, Hairspray, Blind Dating, Benny & Joon, Avatar, Shutter Island, Pan’s Labyrinth, Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Proposal and about 95% of all Disney animated films.
Favourite music: Blue October, Linkin Park, One Republic, Muse, Kelly Clarkson, La Roux – I’m also addicted to 80’s pop.
What would you like to send/receive?: Letters, postcards, swaps. - anything that requires the USPS. The written word is dying, and there’s just something so personal about taking the time to send something through the mail.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone that would like to send/receive mail to/from me!
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Any and all. Though, my primary (and sole) language is English. The two years of Spanish I took in High School is long gone.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Hate mail, suspicious powders, and trinitrotoluene.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: Honestly, if someone were to take the time to write me a letter, that’s ideal enough for me. Now as far as packages go…I’m an avid Harry Potter fan. I’ve started collecting copies in different languages. So if someone were to include a copy of one/any of the HP books in a different language, I’d cry with joy.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I’m full of contradictions, as are most human beings. I’m an atheist living in the South. I hate when people use the word “gay” as an insult – and no, I don’t think it’s acceptable even when you have gay friends and/or are gay. I also have a secret: I tend to automatically judge people when they admit that they consider the Twilight series to be great literature. The secret is that I’m still a casual fan of the series anyway.

Date: 2010-06-28 05:30 pm (UTC)Oh, a tough question. So tough that I don't think I can narrow it down, actually. It's probably an even tie between Cinderella, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King and Mulan. Actually no, I lied...Beauty and the Beast has a slight advantage over all of these. The music is fantastic.

Date: 2010-06-28 07:34 pm (UTC)I checked out that book swap site you linked to, shame it's only in the US. Worldwide you could get all sorts of incredible stuff!

Date: 2010-06-28 07:42 pm (UTC)It really is a shame, but I know there's a book swap site out there that ships worldwide, I know it! Now, if I could just find it...
I'm just thankful to have found the books that I have. I'm not going to question why or how, but just be thankful that there were a handful of people in the US who had them, and then listed them. :) Cause boy are they expensive if you just buy them outright. Whew.

Date: 2010-06-28 08:02 pm (UTC)I found a book swap site iin Australia but it hardly seems worth it. When I order books for university (or just for myself) I get them from http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/ it's a UK site but the books are insanely cheap (even with the exchange rate) and they ship world wide for free (I swear I don't work for them lol) which is amazing 'cos buying books in this country is insanely expensive. What other languages do you want to get? Or aren't you fussy?

Date: 2010-06-28 11:24 pm (UTC)I'll definitely check that website out when I get the chance. The free shipping thing is certainly appealing. That's the problem with finding and buying these books off of ebay or similar websites - the cost of shipping alone is more than what the book itself is worth.
I'm not really fussy over the languages I obtain. Considering how many options there are (http://www.omniglot.com/books/fiction/harrypotter.htm), I should probably set my energies on one set at a time. Actually, I'm very overwhelmed by that site, I think I'll go rest now.
;)
OH! And before I go, have you seen the trailer that was just posted mere minutes ago? It's amazing. http://www.mugglenet.com/trailer.php
