Name: On LJ I go by the name Daya, I'll give you my real name if we decide to become penpals
Age: just turned 20 :)
Location: Netherlands
How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Bi female
Interests/hobbies: Books, music, blogging, photography, films (all kinds), collecting stuff, learning languages (I speak Dutch and English fluently, French a little, and I can understand some German, but i'd love to learn Italian and maybe some other languages one day), playing guitar (not very good at it though), singing and songwriting (still secretly wish to become a rockstar, haha)
Favourite books: I read all kinds of genres, but a few that hold a special place in my heart are: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Vast Fields of Ordinary, Anne Frank's diary, Harry Potter, PS I love you, Thanks For The Memories (also by Cecelia Ahern), Un Secret by Philippe Grimbert, Pride & Prejudice, and.. yes, I like the Twilight books as well, so what? In my opinion, the definiton of a good book is one that stimulates one's imagination, or makes them laugh, or cry. Most books do this to me. Sometimes I also like to read fiction or non-fiction based on famous people like John Keats, Marie Antoinette, Henry VIII, Mary Boleyn, Josephine Bonaparte, Oscar Wilde, Andy Warhol... And right now I am reading the Silverchair biography by Jeff Apter, and I really love it. If you like Silverchair, you are instantly cool to me ;)
Favourite films: I prefer to watch alternative/art films, but I don't mind watching chick flicks or action movies either. Horror/thrillers are cool too. Some favourites from my endless list: Amélie, The Butterfly Effect, Little miss sunshine, The Ring, Milk, Rat Race, I'm not there, Into the wild, Brokeback Mountain, Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, 500 Days of summer, Mean girls, Magnolia, Il y a longtemps que je t'aime, White Oleander, Threesome, Let the right one in, The Royal Tenenbaums, Daybreakers, The Nightmare before Christmas, Groundhog day, Monty Python films, and anything starring Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder or Ryan Gosling.
Favourite music: Silverchair, Death Cab for Cutie, Simon & Garfunkel, A Perfect Circle, Placebo, Nine inch Nails, David Gray, Damien Rice, Bayside, Imogen Heap, Patrick Watson, Linkin Park, Escape the fate, some unsigned or unknown British bands (Midgar, Spring Offensive)... as you can see I don't do "boxes", I like mostly rock but it can be mainstream as well as alternative, and loud as well as acoustic.
Favourite tv shows: Buffy, Friends, and many British shows like Skins, QI, Never mind the Buzzcocks, Single Father, Blackadder.
What would you like to send/receive?: anything cute/surprising/funny/interesting. I like postcards and mixtapes, but who doesn't :) IF YOU PREFER E-MAIL INSTEAD OF SNAILMAIL, THAT'S FINE BY ME
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: anyone
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: anywhere, but it's really cool if you're from the UK because I love going there and might want to live there some day.
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") porn or illegal things
What would be in your dream letter or package?: a cd with your favourite songs, a long handwritten letter
Anything else you'd like to add?: I am very open-minded, and I hope you are too :) I am a vegetarian, but I never try to force anyone else to become one. I like shopping from thriftstores or Etsy.com. I am fascinated by (the idea of) vampires (all kinds; Anne Rice's versions as well as Stephenie Meyer's, and of course Bram Stoker's Dracula).
