Name: Marit

Age:
20

Location:
Germany

How do you identify?:
female - used to like boys only until recently, quite intruiged by the idea of liking girls, so bi...ish? After developing a serious girlcrush on Maggie Gyllenhall in Mona Lisa Smile I guess I couldn't help but notice.

Interests/hobbies:
sewing (mostly because buying the stuff I want is too expensive and we have a store which sells 100000000 kinds of cloth - it's like paradise just better!), reading (once I'm in the mood I won't even notice that seasons are changing or I have basic needs, lik, well, food?), fashion (I'll admit it - I'm a girly girl. I like being girly and for a year now have only been wearing dresses and skirts. It's like a passion. Besides, the idea that I can be someone else every single day just by changing the things I wear is so cool - it's like I'm a princess or something just better), writing (first fanfiction, then nanowrimo.org, now mostly original pieces), Japan (language, people, culture, history, anything - I'm a junkie and I know it), languages (German, English, French, Japanese, a bit of Spanish, Swedish and even some Dutch), cooking/baking (I suck at using recipes, though. Mostly I come up with the stuff myself and my mum hates me for being so good at it. She thinks I got it from my grandma who could do anything without a recipe, her eyes closed, and one hand behind her back), talking (about anything. I tend to ramble but, well, I guess such is life. My mind is filled with things and somehow I need to voice them. I like hearing other people's opinions and by now I am proud to say that I am very open-minded at tolerant), travelling (I have a deep love for the UK and Ireland but Canada and the states are on the list, too, amongst others), psychology (I once wanted to become a psychologist but somehow that idea got lost along the way - I still like it, though), art (I'm not a pro but I still ilke doing these kinds of things - it keeps my mind from wandering), music (I used to sing in a choir and I still love singing, especially while I am driving in my car which is good because then no one can hear me or see my... "choreography". Couldn't live without karaoke), photography (my best friend agreed to be my model and it's lots of fun. I'm an amateur. I have a crappy camera but I still love it).

Favourite books:
Alanna series, The truth about forever, How I live now, Sherlock Holmes, Jane Eyre, Alice in Wonderland, The wizard of Oz, Gemma Doyle Trilogy (I LOVE the Victorian era!).... The list is too long to post it here, but, really, as long as I can get into it, I will basically read anything, I guess. Recently I am into a time travelling trilogy by a German author. Can't wait for the last one (September - boohoooo!).

Favourite films:
Dead Poets' Society, Because I said so, Seven Pounds, Sherlock Holmes .... plus anything Tim Burton or Hayao Miyazaki (Howl's moving Castle was sooooo good!). I also like lots of indie films.

Favourite music:
anything, basically – I find it difficult to talk about my taste in music because I don't know how to describe it. Besides, "favourite" is such a definite term... I'm a girl. I change my mind... a lot?
Sia, Goo Goo Dolls, Lenka, Kate Nash, Mika, Flow, Lena, Scouting for girls, Trading Yesterday, Mika, Train... I tend to listen to soundtracks quite often. Musicals are good, too. Sometimes I just like one song, so there's really no point in mentioning the band.
Just make me listen to something you like and I tell you if I like it. Might be the easiest way to make me talk about music.

What would you like to send/receive?: Handwritten letters are looooove, but email's cool, too, esp. to get to know each other a bit. Packages would be nice, though... I really like little things (both sending / receiving)! And other countries are so interesting. I want to know who you are, I want to make friends all over the world and, yes, of course, I do realise that I sound like a child!

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?:
Anyone, basically, although the choice is probably limited since I am only fluent in English and German – well, there are bits and pieces of French and Japanese, too, and maybe I could come up with some weird Spanish... no, wait. I probably shouldn't! Let's just stick to English. That might me help keep my dignity. I would appreciate that. Thank you.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?:
Anyone, anywhere, like I said: we need to be able to communicate via language but then again, that probably goes without saying. While the idea of using some creative method, like, drawing little comics to describe what's been happening, does sound really cool, I don't think that would make either of us happy. Although, it might make me happy if you're good at drawing...

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?:
Just ask yourself „Would I want to receive THAT?“ and ask again „... seriously?“ and if you can honestly answer with „YES! Of course!!“, then we'll be cool. Promise.
Well, and nothing illegal or similar, kay? I like living here and somehow I don't want to be forced to move somewhere else, like, prison.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: I don't know. Maybe just, you know, something that you think tells me something about you. A drawing, some perfume sprayed on the paper, some stickers, a mixed cd, whatever! Or maybe just a plain letter is nice, too. I love getting mail. Letters are just so nostalgic. I used to write letters with all of my friends when I was 8 or so.

Anything else you'd like to add?:
Don't be shy – just say „hey there“ or ask anything you'd like to know! I'm not as awkward as you might think after my introduction. Oh, and maybe keep in mind that a person's interest do not define who she is? Like, I could be a barbie because I like fashion. Or I could be Annie Camden because I like cooking.. and so on. But in the end, I'm just me. With all my flaws, my unique traits and everything else that makes me me. No stereotypes - just me.

Picture (optional):
couldn't decide on one... I like to compare myself to Snow White, you know, pale white, dark hair, red lips and stuff but truth is, I am just very, very pale ;)

Once I decide on a picture, I might update. Once we're writing, though, you'll get one.

Sherlock Holmes! <3

I liked a lot of your other movies and books, but Holmes stood out to me 'cause one of my best friends calls me Watson, haha.

Well, I call her Holmes and she calls me Watson....and we call her boyfriend, Irene. Hehe.

I can't recall why it started, but I know she thinks I act a lot like Watson. Well, first she said I act like Wilson (from House), but he's modelled after Watson, and Watson is just cool. So, that's pretty much how it took.

Also, I solve crimes in my spare time.

Haha, I love enlightening people to the wonders of Wilson-Watson connections.

It's Ianto Jones from Torchwood. Several of my icons don't have tags on them, so when I go to choose one, I often have to do it at random. Which I did that time. Haha.
