Name: Nemo
Age: 22
Location: UK
How do you identify?: Lesbian
Interests/hobbies: Fandom. I love fanfiction and fanvids, and I RP on LJ as well. I'm obsessed with movies, and books, particularly sci-fi and fantasy. I love talking about them, discussing plots, analysing characters, all those things obsessed fans do! Despite living in the city for the past few years, I prefer the countryside, I like being able to walk about in the fields, go cycling, outdoorsy sorts of things. I like sketching, writing, singing and I play piano... occasionally! I enjoy travelling, I've been a bunch of places, and look forward to visiting more. I love languages, not just learning them, but looking at their history, how they interact and influence each other.
Favourite books: I can never pick just a few, but LotR has to be up here. I used to be massively into those thick fantasy books: Wheel of Time (though it is a terrible series really) Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy, Trudi Canavan, etc. But recently I've been reading more fanfiction than profic. I like vampire books (no, not Twilight, don't even think it.) I read more fantasy than sci-fi, abut I like fiction as well: Toni Morrison, and Barbara Kingsolver, Margarett Atwood, and historical novels, Frankly I'll read anything. I love reading. It has to be reeeeeeeeally boring for me to drop it. In terms of Queer lit, I've read Rubyfruit and Oranges, which were interesting. But I read Pages For You recently by Sylvia Brownrigg, and that was just fantastic.
Favourite films: All of them? XD I loved Shutter Island. Saw the Escapist recently, fantastic movie. Changeling was great, anything by Clint Eastwood, Terry Gilliam (12 Monkeys/Brazil especially), Burton's earlier stuff. I like thrillers with a twist: The Usual Suspects, Memento, Identity. I am PSYCHED about Inception, it looks AWESOME! I watch a lot of American TV, True Blood, SGU, LotS, BSG, anything by Joss Whedon. I love brit comedy, Green Wing, Goodness Gracious Me, Black Books. If you read my LJ you'll get an idea of the kind of things I watch, I squee and rant about shows pretty regularly.
Favourite music: I have a very eclectic taste, I'll listen to pretty much anything. And I listen it to death, then I get bored and move on. Right now I'm liking Metric, Rilo Kiley, Feist, Roisin Murphy, Iron& Wine, Simon & Garfunkel, Beatles, Zutons, Killers, BSG Soundtrack and Lords of Acid. I like Classical, Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Metal, Rock, Folk-Rock, Pop, really anything except Rap or Opera.
What would you like to send/receive?: I'd prefer to get to know people on LJ first, if possible. But after that, email/Snailmail, I use AIM a lot as well.
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: People in a similar age range - early twenties, English speakers, or people willing to put up with my rusty French or Spanish, I'd really love to have a chance to practice languages :) People who are into fandom would be great, because then they'd get what I was going on about! Alternatively, writers would be cool, because we could share tips and encourage each other to write and stuff like that.
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: England/UK would be awesome, because then there's the possibility of actual meet ups! But otherwise anywhere in the world :D
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: It's all good.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: For a letter I'd like to chat about books/films/TV/meta/writing. For a package: mixed media - something written and something drawn or a photo, and something made. I like mixing it up. I'd like to get pretty little random things, like poetry, or arty stuff. Things that are made, not bought, I don't want this to be a money drain. Awesome crafty things, like pressed flowers and origami birds. Inventive stuff.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I'd love to meet up with people at London Pride! It's my first one and I'm very excited.

Date: 2010-06-23 09:51 pm (UTC)Yeah I can't really get into original fic online. I have the internet too closely tied with fanfic in my mind, and I just can't get my head around reading OF here!
What kind of fandoms do you read in?

Date: 2010-06-23 10:12 pm (UTC)I actually don't post any of my original stuff online, but I do enjoy read other people's works!
I don't read in any specific fandom, per se. I've always read (and written) by pairing, so if I watch or read something with a pairing I like, I will see out fic of them!

Date: 2010-06-29 08:29 pm (UTC)I'm still torn over going to Pride - I really want to, but I have no one to go with and will be b myself, which would suck. Which probably means I'll miss it for another year... xD
I've never seen SPN, so no (Unless it's the Sam/Dr. Horrible/Dean fic where they're in the back of the Impala?). I do love
