Interests/hobbies: ...it's always tough to think of everything on the spot for this, but, a sampling of things: writing (my passion;; ), reading, photography (and, being a camwhore), baking pies, playing around with handwriting analysis/palmistry/personality tests, listening to people and helping them out, some manga, girly things like make-up/LUSH/clothes/etc, making music mixes, being amused by my ten cats, randomly reading wikipedia pages, stalking lj. i'm also a bit fond of snakes and ducks?

Favourite books: Enchantment by Orson Scott Card is one of my favorite books of all time -- i love his writing style and most of his other books, including the Ender's Game/Shadow series. um, other authors i like include F. Scott Fitzgerald, H.G. Wells, Tamora Pierce, Alice Hoffman... this gives a pretty good idea of the kind of books i like, though i'm always open to recs ♥ /reads a lot.

Favourite films: Hayao Miyazaki films, Miracle, R.E.N.T., Slumdog Millionaire, ...i'm not very good at remembering films i've enjoyed, but i tend to like indie & foreign films that leave an impression -- like Caramel or the Japanese film 46 Billion Years of Love (46億年の恋).

Favourite music: the best place to look is probably my last.fm. i like all different types of english music (cobra starship, tegan & sara, lykke li, shakira, metric, jason mraz, stars, dragonette, the beatles, marilyn manson, eminem, loreena mckennitt, placebo, etc), jrock (miyavi, alice nine, gazette, kirito, etc), kpop (epik high, big bang, dbsk, super junior, after school) and other genres like classical music, celtic music ...i'm open to just about everything and i love it when people share new music with me. I REALLY WANT TO KNOW MORE SPANISH BANDS;;

What would you like to send/receive?: i'd like to start with emails (PM me and i'll give you my email!), i'm more comfortable getting to know someone before i give out my address, but i'm a huge fan of handwritten letters. they're so personal and special and really give you a sense of who the person is. so eventually, handwritten notes/long letters and photographs/trinkets would be lovely o:

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: i'm fine with anyone! i can only speak english fluently and i would love to speak to people who know spanish - i'm not even at conversational level (i took spanish for about a year and a half; i can read it reasonably well but have trouble responding/building proper sentences :/) but i'd like to learn more/just really admire the language.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: any country is fine! i like learning about different cultures, so variety is nice o:

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") since i'm asking for emails to start with, nothing that i can think of!

What would be in your dream letter or package?: my dream package would be a stack of letters from different days of the week, along with little doodles or sticky notes, things that have meaning or make you smile, and little trinkets - like, the fortune from a fortune cookie or the leaf you found on the ground that caught your eye. I DON'T KNOW, I'M DORKY OKAY. 8|

Anything else you'd like to add?: i'm currently recovering from a serious chronic illness, so i'm not always sure how quickly i'll respond to emails, but i think that's part of the beauty of penpals - the letter stays and waits for you to answer it, unlike talking to someone in person or over instant messaging. and letters are personal in a different way o:

I've heard of La Oreja de Van Gogh! I think we did a song by them in my Spanish 4 class last year... xD

I'm getting music ideas now. xD I'm also a huge fan of flamenco guitar, contemporary and classical. Paco de Luna (I think?) is a really good one for the classic stuff.

i would love this! since my spanish is definitely shaky, i don't mind that you're not quite fluent because you can understand how it is to learn it, and that makes it less embarrassing to me xP

I too am trying to learn Spanish. I am rusty since I have been out of class for a year, but what I remember is thanks to Spanish music. Do you watch Univision? I was going to suggest La Oreja de Van Gogh, who does one of my favorite songs Dulce Locura, but I think someone already suggested her. Also, I love love love this group called Kudai. They are a Chillean group that have somewhat emo lyrics (from what little I understand). My favorite songs by them are Dejame Gritar (which I think means To stop me from screaming, but I am pretty sure I'm wrong), and Morrir de Amor (Dead Love, or something like that, which is a song about domestic abuse, but I really love it). If you don't already, there is also Selena and Gloria Estefan, who does another good song called Hoy (among a bunch others, I'm sure but that is my fave by her). there aws also another band called Reik, and an artist named Aleks Syntek. excuse the spelling, but I hear he's really popular. That is it. Sorry about the rambly messege, but I get so excited when there are others who like Spanish music too.

During elementary school I learned Spanish (basic level) a few times, and then ended up taking about a year and a half in high school -- so it seems like I've been learning Spanish forever and yet I haven't gotten very far! I love the language, though, so I'm attempting to learn it again <3

If it's okay, I think I'd like to add you....:-) I'm fascinated by handwriting analysis but I've never been able to find a good book on it. Also, Enchantment is really awesome...I need to re-read it....and I'm a writer too, and I'm always looking for someone to tell me something brilliant to inspire me.
