Name: Jackie... or Red. I go by Red on the internet a lot.

Age: 22

Location: Massachusetts, USA

How do you identify?: Bisexual woman... well, really I'm more gender indifferent, which I guess is what "pansexual" is, but I don't like the word. It's a personal choice.

Interests/hobbies: Writing (fiction, poetry, blog entries, etc), Reading, Taking Walks, Pets, Fashion, Spur of the moment wikifu/casual research on whatever subject is currently striking my fancy, Philosophy, Anime (I'm the secretary of my anime club)

Favourite books: House of Leaves, Good Omens, Watership Down, Running With Scissors

Favourite films: Inglorious Basterds, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Addams Family, Across the Universe, Cannibal! The Musical, Homeward Bound, the Disney animated canon (although I missed a few during my teenage anti-animation rebellion that I've got to catch up on)

Favourite music: An assortment of indie, alt rock, classic rock, and pop. Some hard rock. And film soundtracks.

What would you like to send/receive?: Just e-mail and IM right now

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anybody!

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere, as long as you can speak English, because the only other language I can speak is Bad, Broken Spanish. And I shan't embarrass myself to native Spanish speakers with my terrible Spanish-language skills.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Not taking physical mail right now, thanks. It's a privacy thing. : )

What would be in your dream letter or package?: Oh, anything. I'm just looking for new people to talk to, really. I like making new friends. \o/

Anything else you'd like to add?: I have a very subversive sense of humor so please take anything I have to say with a grain of salt. /o\

Name: Emily

Age:
18

Location:
TN, USA- but I'll be starting school in Washington DC this fall.

How do you identify?:
I'm bisexual, but I've never really dated anyone seriously. Looking forward to the opportunities in college. Gender-wise I am female, but sometimes I feel kind of fluid. There's more to gender than biology and what society says there should be.

Interests/hobbies:
I love to read, write, and watch television. This summer I'm doing a lot of traveling (Seattle, Vancouver, London, and DC), which is pretty awesome, I think. I am into some fandoms, though not very actively. I really love to write. Specifically, I write original slash fiction and it takes up a lot of my free time, because it's something that I'm very passionate about. I don't roleplay or cosplay, but I am sort of into steampunk. like music, baking and xkcd comics.

Favourite books:
Right now I'm on a Neil Gaiman stretch. Everyone in the world should read American Gods, I think. I love Hamlet and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, too. Mercedes Lackey and Lynn Flewelling have great fantasy with queer themes. Young adult books are my guilty pleasure- The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Boy meets Boy, Far from Xanadu. I liked Harry Potter pretty well, read the first couple of Twilight books before I lost interest and the hype started, but I've yet to read The Lord of The Rings- I know, I know. It's a travesty.

Favourite films:
The Prestige and Fight Club are classics, and I adore the X-Men films, Serenity, and The Princess Bride. I also love musicals- like RENT, West Side Story, and Newsies.

Favourite music:
My musical tastes are kind of eclectic. I like a lot of different genres, but don't really keep up with what the charts say is popular. OK-Go, Motion City Soundtrack, Streetlight Manifesto, Jack's Mannequin, Rise Against- plus bits and pieces of whatever else comes into my collection. I'm open minded.

What would you like to send/receive?:
I'd like to email/im for a while and then once I get to know you/am in DC permanently I would adore to getting real snail mail. Receiving an actual letter is an awesome feeling, I think. I'll send cards, letters, examples of my terrible artistry, cds, whatever you like. I can send you an origami crane made out of a gum wrapper!

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?:
Some friendly individual like myself who will write in English and doesn't use a lot of chatspeak. Aside from that, the possibilities are endless.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?:
Anywhere that I can understand. I took two years of German, but I still can't speak it worth anything, so English is the best bet.

What would be in your dream letter or package?:
Inside jokes that no one else would understand, plus a bit of fangirl/boying about something mundane, and intelligent debate over some issue or another. Also, lots of love.

Anything else you'd like to add?: I am a sci-fi geek and may want to talk about Doctor Who, Merlin, Stargate, Firefly, or any number of other shows with you. It'd be nice if you at least had heard of them, but you need not follow them as passionately as I do.

Picture:
I'll send you one when I get to know you better.

Name: Kate

Age: 18

Location: England

How do you identify?: Bisexual; strictly speaking I'm female, but I'm very androgynous.  That goes for both characteristics and looks; I'm frequently mistaken for a boy at work despite my nametag!  I don't mind, though.  I think I'd make an alright boy.

Interests/hobbies: Writing.  Writing, writing, writing.  Writing.  Did I mention writing?  I think reading naturally comes alongside that, but for introduction's sake, I'll also openly save that I love reading, too.  I'm starting university for the first time in September - terrified but very excited - and I'll be studying English Literature and Creative Writing against the original wishes of my parents; for saying I'm fairly meek, that says a lot about how much I wanted to do it!  At the risk of sounding boring, I also love roleplaying - both forum-based and over IM.  What else can I say?  I'm a casual gamer and Photoshopper, and I love, love, love films.  This also means I have hefty prejudices against rom-coms.

Favourite books: There are far too many to list them all, so I'll stick to my current top six.  In no particular order, I'll say The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, The Beach by Alex Garland, the unexpectedly brilliant The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, even if it does star a character called 'Katniss', the wonderfully original The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist - the Hollywood adaption of which I am quite honestly dreading, seeing as the Swedish version was so beautiful - and the Harry Potter series - alright, so sue me.  If it's not your cup of tea, don't worry; I promise I won't shove it down your throat.  Similarly, I can't stand Twilight or any related thing, but so long as you're not intending on trying to convert me I won't hold it against you.  Everyone's happy!  I'm currently reading The Line of Beauty by Alan Hollinghurst and Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, and am always looking for recommendations.  I've just realised I left out the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and I am very aware that I deserve some sort of great pain to make up for this.

Favourite films: Again, this is really hard to condense.  I'll give you another top six - again, it's definitely not comprehensive, and I've probably forgotten something I absolutely adore.  Actually, can I give you a top seven instead?  Fight Club, Milk, Kill Bill, V for Vendetta, Edward Scissorhands, the Matrix trilogy and Loving Annabelle.  My top three recent disappointments have been the Harry Potter films - to which I blow a hideously childish raspberry - Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Slumdog Millionaire, which I still believe is completely overrated compared to the book, which I think is a masterpiece.  I think Danny Boyle swings between genius and madness; I thought 28 Days Later was predictable, uninteresting and tired claptrap and he wasted such a great opportunity with his adaption of The Beach, but then again Trainspotting was so good despite some deviance from the book.

I'm really looking forward to Inception.  Chris Nolan is amazing, and Leonardo di Caprio is one of my favourite actors; if he's pulled this concept off right, I think Inception could be as good as The Matrix.  I don't think I'm alone in allowing my inner child to gleefully anticipate Toy Story 3 and Shrek.  Finally, am I allowed two Do-Not-Wants?  Avatar 2 and Eclipse.  The former should remain as a stand-alone film and forget about profit; the latter just needs to be burned.  Now.

Favourite music:
I used to love music a lot more than I do now.  I'm not going to pretend my tastes are indie, because they're obviously not - I worship Gaga - but I don't like most of the stuff I hear on the charts.  I'm at least a little bit more selective than that.  Most of my favourites start with K - Kasabian, the Killers, Katy Perry.  One of my pet hates is when people just say they like The Beatles because they think they have to or because they think it's kitsch to, because I genuinely adore their music - especially the earlier stuff, but I'm not fussy.  What else can I say?  I often use music to inspire my writing, so I also quite like classical music because it's interpretable.  That said, I'm also inspired by Gaga.  Go figure.  I think I should probably have been born in the late forties or late sixties so I could have properly lived through the sixties or the eighties respectively.  My lovely mum tells me my dress sense is very Mary Quant, and I know I'd love the androgyny of the eighties - seeing as music and image are so closely linked, I think I'm allowed to mention that in this section.  Right?

Favourite TV: I'm adding this section because I think it's important for me to be able to mention Doctor Who.  I love it.  The season finale will be airing over here in Blightly very soon, and I'm pretty excited.  I'd call Big Brother a guilty pleasure if I was at all guilty about it - I know most people think it's poppycock now, but I genuinely love it.  I'll take the opportunity to complain about how heartbreaking Shabby/Caoimhe and Mario/Ben are and wave the Mario-shaped winner flag at you just in case you know what I'm talking about.  When Ashes to Ashes finished I cried shamelessly for a very long time - actually, that's one thing you definitely need to know about me.  I'm a crier.  It's not that I'm oversensitive where I'm concerned; it's just that lots of things just seem to break my heart.  You'd be pretty hard-pressed to make me cry by insulting me, but put that picture of the puppy sitting on the road in the rain in front of me and I'll howl.  OK, back on track now.  I love Bones and I'm absolutely obsessed with Miami Ink, though personally I doubt if I'd ever get a tattoo.  They're beautiful and I'm not!  Last but most certainly not least - GLEE.  GLEE.  GLEE.

What would you like to send/receive?: I love snail mail.  It absolutely makes my day getting anything through the post.  If you'd like to get to know each other over IM or e-mail before we swap addresses first, though, that's absolutely fine with me.  I would like it to lead to phsyical letters, though, if at all possible.  I'd love to swap presents - homemade, bought, drawings, love.  Anything.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anybody!  In the words of Evie from V for Vendetta - I don't know who you are, but I love you.  People who share my interests, of course - I'd love a writing writing buddy.  I'm really not fussy, though; if I sound like the kind of person you wouldn't hate and you're into snail mail too, then I'd love to write to you.  I'd like at least one person to write to very frequently; hopefully even weekly.  Is that too much?  Sorry.  Actually, thinking about it, it'd probably be easiest for both of us to talk if we're similar ages; within a five year radius each side, maybe?  Obviously that's flexible.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: My first language is English, but I do speak and write German.  I won't say fluently, but I have just finished my A-Level in it - actually, I'd love to be able to keep up the language, so writing to someone in German would be lovely.  I probably wouldn't be able to write back as quickly, though; I'd want to check my grammar!  Anywhere, though, really.  The UK, America, Australia?  I don't mind.  Where do you live?

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Nothing, really.  I don't like cheese.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: Love!  Hm.  Actually, I do have an idea - I'd love a little charm for my keyring to remind me of you, especially if we don't live close so we can't meet up.  I'm so easily pleased.  OK, let me think bigger - dream letter.  OK.  Lady Gaga.  Put Lady Gaga in there for me.  Why not?

Anything else you'd like to add?: I always find it hard to describe myself, so I probably haven't come across very well in this, but I hope you're interested in talking to me anyway.  I'm really looking forward to browsing through everybody else to find people to bother!

Picture (optional): There are plenty of pictures on my Facebook page if you're interested, but here's one to give you the basic idea.  I'm pretty baby-faced, I know; I get IDed all the time. ¬¬

Name: Skye on the internet, and Paige in real life. You can call me Fluffy Floo-Floo if you want, as long as I know you're talking to me.

Age:
14 (Am I the only kid here? ._.)

Location:
Massachusetts, US

How do you identify?:
Bisexual, Biologically female, and I'm not sure what my gender is called. It's fluid - sometimes really girlish and sometimes really boyish.

Interests/hobbies:
Drawing, painting (occasionally), writing, photography, Animated Music Videos, fursuiting, swimming, sleeping, and eating C:

Favourite books:
The Sight, Fell, Stuck, The Supernaturals, I Am a Strange Loop, the His Dark Materials trilogy, the Artemis Fowl series, Never Cry Wolf, the Bleach manga, and the Soul Eater manga.

Favourite films:
Transformers, Avatar, The Lion King, Lady and the Tramp, Bolt, The Other Hyourinmaru, Balto, Balto 2, Felidae, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Happy Feet, Roadside Romeo, Mean Girls, The Proposal, Iron Man, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Star Wars <3 (The last three are the best, imo), and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Favourite music:
Anything that isn't Country or Jazz. My favourite bands include Linkin Park, 3OH!3, Avril Lavigne, Hollywood Undead, Lady GaGa, Lights, Owl City, Pendulum, Red, Rihanna, Yellowcard, Ke$ha, and various other bands.

What would you like to send/receive?:
Anything! I can send mix CD's (as long as I can actually find any blank ones in my house! We're pretty messy..), I can send little finger- or hand-puppets I make, or necklaces or feathers or rocks... Well, anything I think. Unless it's illegal or something.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?:
Anyone, I guess.. As long as it's mostly if not all in English. It's the only language I'm fluent in.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?:
I would prefer the United States, but any country is fine. I'm taking French in school, so I might be able to write on some level in it, but I would prefer to write in English. Just so I know what I'm saying, anyway.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?:
No dead things, please. I mean I'm all for bones and skulls, but fake ones are my favourite ;_; Also I think food would be hard to send through the mail, especially things that can be crushed or go bad. But that's about it ^^

What would be in your dream letter or package?:
A nice letter, especially with direct questions (those are easier for me to answer), maybe some little trinkets or something.

Anything else you'd like to add?:
My letters always turn out to be really short. I can usually get up to three pages, but getting past that is the hard part for me. It's just my style of writing, I'm very short and to the point. Maybe it's from how I speak, I don't know. I'm not very good at being serious unless it's a serious topic that I'm passionate about. (Gay marriage, animal rights, etc..)

Picture (optional):
It's kind of crappy, but eh. I never like pictures of me anyways. OH OH And my camera's date lies. This was taken... Some time last year. Well.. After September and before April. I think.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Spinach. You send me spinach, i'll be cross. And no flowers <.<

Name: Crissy

Age: 22

Location: Louisiana, USA

How do you identify?: Effeminate female. *wears a lot of skirts*... I'm either: (a) bisexual with a tendency toward women; (b) a lesbian; or (c) pansexual, because I still think my ideal partner might be a cross-dresser, haha. I'm really not into labels because then it's like you have to be/act in a way that depicts that model. I'm more of a a "I am what I am" type person.

Interests/hobbies: Um... I love Japan for more than its anime and manga. I'm 2/3rd's finished with my psychology degree (possible art minor). I draw and paint, and write poetry that comes out in splatters but for some reason people still like it. I appreciate nature, coffee, and drag queens. I love opera and steaks. I'm crazy yet down to earth, emotional yet rational. I'm spiritual but not religious. I love talking to new people! When I'm not being in depth, I'm very random: expect anything and everything. I get wayyyy too much pleasure out of organizing. Art and music and creativity fuels my soul. I can't help but think too much. I love corsets and lace and painting my fingernails black. I can get way too hyper about things. I like to send people random stuff, bwaha.

Favourite books: I'm not ashamed to say that I really don't do books. I like a few manga series (Kuroshitsuji, Loveless, Godchild, etc.) because I can sit and ogle at the gorgeous artwork like a five-year-old. Otherwise, I enjoy some good poetry every now and then, but I love reading articles and non-fiction things more than I will ever enjoy a fiction novel. I enjoy reading about psychology (obviously), philosophy, art, sexuality, mythology, spirituality, culture... The list goes on!

Favourite films: Moulin Rouge, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, August Rush, Phantom of the Opera, V for Vendetta, Guys and Dolls, The Eye (original Chinese), various other Asian films. Wolf's Rain is an anime but it should count because it's incredible, haha. [Edit: Oh! And the Resident Evil and Underworld sagas.]

Favourite music: Symphonic metal is my favourite genre. Classical music, J-rock, or other rock music that has a point to it (can't stand "emo" bands). Within Temptation, Lisa Loeb, Flyleaf, Brandi Carlile, Malice Mizer, Chevelle, Muse, Sia, Blue October, Snow Patrol, Queen, Vanessa Carlton, Evanescence, Goo Goo Dolls, Korn, Savage Garden, Stella Soleil, Vanessa Mae, Velvet Eden, D'espairsRay, Kagerou, Plastic Tree, Rentrer en Soi, Minagawa Junko, Yoko Kanno, Bach, lots of others. I have music in like 20 different languages, whoa.

What would you like to send/receive?: Actually, I really like instant messaging programs, but I do understand that many people are too busy for that, and some times it's inconvenient because of time zones. So, e-mail is great, too. :D I make my own stationery and regularly write, but I probably won't be cool with "snail mail" until I really know you, sorry. =\

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone who shares something to talk about. :D

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: No preference. It's fascinating to talk to people from other parts of the world because the cultures are so diverse, but just know that I only speak English. (I know a little French and a little Japanese but probably not enough to get by with, haha)

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Nothing randomly vulgar or gross?

What would be in your dream letter or package?: Anything constructed from elegant stationery with old fashioned ribbons and wax seals... Yeah.

Anything else you'd like to add?: I think that about covers it!

Picture (optional): Photobucket Photobucket

Name: I'd rather not divulge until you know me a bit.

Age: 15

How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Well, I'm female (despite my love of dressing up in suits), but I label myself as bisexual to anyone who asks, although I feel that one should see gender as fluid and love who you love. For this reason I support polyamory as well, although I don't practice it (maybe if the time comes.) I've known all this since I was 11, so I'm pretty certain of myself and open with it. Sexual openess can happen when your first understanding of sex comes from reading Middlesex (great book.)

Interests/hobbies: Puzzles (mysteries are great,) drawing, creative writing, I love music and singing, but I gave up doing it when I couldn't go on stage (I'm half blind, try covering one eye and looking through a toilet paper roll with the other and you've go me,) being an internet addict, languages: native English, Spanish and Japanese, although I'd like German, Russian and Cambodian, watching British Comedy, being a sci-fi nerd (Star Trek TOS and Doctor Who are my forte and reading I love Ray Bradbury and Phillip K Dick,) word/name etymology, I'm obsessed with Cambodia seeing as it is my home country, gay rights, greek myths, Stephen Fry and/or Hugh Laurie, learning new things, SCIENCE! MUAH! (I want to be a neurologist)

Favourite books: anything by Walter Moers, Stephen Fry, Daniel Pinkwater, Ray Bradbury, Phillip K Dick, Douglas Adams and PG Wodehouse to name a few authors. Jane Eyre, Cheaper By the Dozen, the Ghost Map, Middlesex, To Kill A Mockingbird, Lord of the Rings/the Hobbit, D'Aulaires Book of Greek Myths, Flowers for Algernon are also top, although I own 600 + books (mine, not my parents, all collected by ME!) so it's hard to choose.

Favourite films: So many . . . I know everyone says so, but it's really true. Um, here are a couple from my hundred or so list: any Pixar, any Mel Brooks, any musicals, any Charlie Brown specials, Harold and Maude, Forrest Gump, To Kill A Mockingbird, Ghostbusters, The Untouchables, Trading Places, Shawshank Redemption, Arsenic and Old Lace, A Beautiful Mind, Shine, Best in Show, Spaceballs, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Babe, Betelgeuse, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Lord of the Rings

Favourite music: I listen to a lot of single songs by artists I don't know/follow that I find by way of YouTube's related videos column. However, I am quite fond of Queen, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Franz Ferdinand, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Fall Out Boy, Taylor Swift, the Four Seasons, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles and showtunes. Yeah, musical diversity FTW.

What would you like to send/receive?: At the moment, anything you can fit in an email. If you want to contact, ask in comments and I'll PM you my email. I lose stamps too easily for my wallet to be comfortable with funding this endeavour.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone, but people who share the same interest, likes and views on sexuality would be perferable. I can only read English well, but bits in other langauges (with possible translations) would be great!

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") Spam, in both definitions of the word.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: A picture of yourself, and a lengthy letter, with perhaps a bit in another language and if you were REALLY NICE a book or DVD you'd reccomend.

Anything else you'd like to add?: Beards freak me out and I am extremely nerdy. One of my pet peeves involves people who can't bother to write real sentences. No chatspeak!

Picture (optional): I'll just describe myself.
A "so brown everyone thinks it's black" bob haircut
5"4'
Tan skin
Two coloured eyes blue and brown
Glasses
Shoe size: 6.5 on left and 7 on right
White teeth (baking soda is the secret,) straightened a couple years ago
107.5 lbs as of yesterday
Thin fingers with naturally pink fingernails (no polish although I do favour cream or red sometimes) all different lengths, because I can never take the time to sit down and clip them all evenly
Lots of different little scars from all the times I've tripped over stuff, scratched myself or had surgeries
Pierced ears, although I only wear jewlery for special occasions, as my ears never close

Any would be great.  Snail mail rate isn't too bad anywhere you send it, so it wouldn't be that expensive or anything.  :D  Although if I'm sending packages then I would rather it be within the U.S. because... yeah, I'm a broke college student, hahaha.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts")

What would be in your dream letter or package?:
