Here I am, reposting. My old entry is
here, if you're interested.
Name: Melanie
Age: 19
Location: Missouri, United States
How do you identify?: It's complicated. We can discuss it later. :P
Interests/hobbies: Music, video games (sometimes), art (more looking at it than creating it, these days), movies, writing, researching/looking at Wikipedia, reading (sometimes), people watching, vinyl (you know, records), typewriters, similar "old" things, yard sales (I'm a total old lady), defacing/destroying clothes, punk rock... I spend most of my time just sitting around listening to music/on the internet/playing Sims 2. It really is riveting.
Favourite books: A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess,
American on Purpose by Craig Ferguson,
Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell,
Rotten: No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs by John Lydon,
Touching From a Distance by Deborah Curtis,
Mysterious Skin by Scott Heim,
On The Road by Jack Kerouac, anything by J.D. Salinger, anything by Charles Bukowski, anything by Chuck Palahniuk... I've been getting into The Beat Generation, lately. I like reading about people's life stories, too. I'm not into young adult books at all, really (don't even get me started on
Twilight). My library's somewhat lacking (I
do live in Missouri), so it's hard for me to find really great books, unless they're insanely cheap on Amazon, haha.
Favourite films: A Clockwork Orange, Control (2007 film), Mysterious Skin, 1984 (1984 film), Bad Education (
La mala educación), Zerophilia, Fight Club, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Adventures of Sebastian Cole, Snatch, Lock, Stocks, and Two Smoking Barrels, etc, etc. I watch
a ton of movies, but it's been a while since I've seen something amazing. I'd love to swap some suggestions, though. :D
Favourite music: My last.fm page. But if you lack ambition, here's a summary: Punk rock's my life (to put it simply), but I
generally listen to stuff from the 70's and 80's. I'm real into post-punk and glam rock and ska and electronica and stuff like that. You probably really should click on that link. Some bands I like, though: Joy Division, David Bowie, The Clash, The Fall, Wire, Bauhaus, Public Image Ltd., The Cure, Richard Hell, Gang of Four, Televsion, Buzzcocks, Iggy Pop, The Vibrators, T. Rex, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Tricky, Tiga, Violent Femmes, Serge Gainsbourg, The Specials, Psychotica, Glampire, LCD Soundsystem, etc (not in that order). If we have simliar taste in music, I
do like to talk about it quite a bit.
What would you like to send/receive?: Emails, IMs (I can be pretty slow to reply and boring, but if that's your thing...), mix CDs/mixtapes (when I get a good cassette player/boombox-type thing), snail mail... If you live outside of the US, though, I'm probably not sending you any packages. I'm lazy/cheap. And my handwriting's hard to read, so I prefer to type letters on one of my typewriters. But really, that's subjective...
Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone who's willing to put in the effort. :P
What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere! I'm really interested in Canada and the UK, so.... yeah. But anywhere's great! :D (I only speak English, though. My French is really too pitiful to carry on a conversation.)
Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Uh... food.
What would be in your dream letter or package?: Art/writing. You know, something created. Handmade things and all that cal. I get attached to weird little things like erasers and office supplies, too, so that could work. XD
Anything else you'd like to add?: I'm pretty slow to reply sometimes. Slow as in like, 10 days. So, sometimes I might need a little nudge to get going.
Picture: All of my pictures suck/are a couple years old.
(But if you do a little cyberstalking, you're bound to come across some.)
