Name: Ely. As in the Bible, but spelt like the river in Wales.

Age: Early twenties.

Location: Madtown, Dairyland, in the Midwest of the US.

How do you identify?: I don't. But I would sooner chase skirts.

Interests/hobbies: ambiguity, Camus, contradiction, the internet, music and the making thereof, Paris, photography, Shakespeare, travel, war

Favourite books
: La Chute, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Djinn, The Gentleman Bastard Sequence, Gertrude and Claudius, On the Road, Le Petit Prince, The Phantom Tolbooth, The Old Man in the Sea, Stone Butch Blues

Favourite films
: The Brothers Bloom, Journey From the Fall, Kill Bill duology, I'm Not There, Marat/Sade, No Direction Home, Notre Musique, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Le sang d'un poète, original Star Wars trilogy

Favourite music
: Bénabar, The Black Keys, Jacques Dutronc, Bob Dylan, Frédéric Chopin, Madeleine Peyroux, Radiohead, Talking Heads, The Velvet Underground, Yann Tiersen

What would you like to send/receive?: I'd like to shoot the breeze via the interwebs before advancing to snail mail. The content of our exchanges would then be up for debate.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone but James Joyce. But really, any kid around or above my age range with a sense of humo(u)r and the will to peel the figurative onion of my identity.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: My eye is on the USA, but I'm willing to open the floor to other anglophone or francophone countries.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Plenty of things. But I trust in your common sense.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: Um. A small parcel containing a key-chain from New Orleans, a picture of a tree, the soundtrack to The Hours, a piece of Star Wars paraphernalia, and a humorous letter penned in Franglais on a sheet of classy stationary addressing the problematic nature of the 'Emerge' sculpture outside of Trinity College in Dublin.

Anything else you'd like to add?: I'm not in the habit of listing favorites, and rarely do I succeed in communicating my exact intent on applications like this one. I have tried to provide you with an accurate cross-section of my mind in the space above, but as a warning, I'm pretty slippery and changeable. In all honesty, I've been people-sick for quite some time, and I'm just looking for other graveyard cats with whom to truly connect. Also, I am not to be taken seriously.

Picture: 2009.

YAR, your affinity for cowboy bebop makes you awesome. Your survey seems to substantiate that. Mm, I haven't filled out an intro survey but I'll list some things here: The Hours, Nicole Kidman's nose in the Hours, Ayn Rand, Of Montreal, Starfucker. If you're interested in email correspondence, pm meeeeeee

She isn't mine either. I tried reading some of her books but had a difficult time getting through them. The Hours was not a difficult read, but definitely enjoyable. They did a really job, I think, of converting it to film.

Gosh, you sure are stunningly adorable and you personality is inviting.

Definitely up for e-ails and then snail mail...if you're up for a hippie buddy, living in Deutschland. ;]

Just found this place. I'll be honest, Spike Spiegel FTW, getting my attention, but reading your survey, I really think I might be able to get along with you?

I don't like James Joyce either! On the Road is one of my favorite books, if not favorite. Original Star Wars trilogy, plus Bob Dylan, plus Radiohead all make me happy. Oh, and Shakespeare and war are two of my very favorite things.

I'd be willing to give it a shot, if you are?
