Yay for twisty thrilers! I've seen Usual Suspects far too many times. Have you seen Shutter Island?

I'm not outside of the UK >_< But I think we have similar film tastes, add anyway?

Friend add me back? I'm happy to do email and snailmail also, but I am very disorganised and slow when it comes to snailmail, just warning you!

Yes, here. (http://community.livejournal.com/queermail/86436.html)

Wow it got totally buried under all the new people! LOL that LJ spotlight really made a difference!

As for Shutter Island, I kind of obsessed and went crazy over it, but there is literally zero fandom, this makes me very sad.

It's not really a thriller in terms of a super clever plot twist like Usual Suspects, BUT watch it for the performances, which I thought were stellar. I rave about it on my lj if you find the Shutter Island tag :)

Yes, I remember other classes reading it and I decided it was something I wanted to read, I loved it, it was a while ago though. Have you seen BSG? There's this absolutely AWESOME crossover I read with Handmaid's tale. Really well written fic.

Yup it was Magician's Guild. Still not quite over the guy dying (I forget names so quick >_<) The leader magician dude.

Yup it does! Why didn't you like it? I thought it was interesting enough, but I read another of hers, 'Sexing the Cherry' I couldn't stand that one, very weird, disjointed narrative and just generally squicky content, in a vague sort of way.

Hmm, I think I didn't really see it as a book about lesbianism, even though that's what it's marketed as. Really it just felt like one girl/woman's life, sort of a disjointed autobiography. I saw My Summer of Love around the same time, and I got a same sort of feel from that -- the small town thing, the religiousness.

Anyway, I'd definitely recommend Brownrigg, there is a sort of element of pretentiousness to it as well, but it makes sense for the character, she's a young student, and very in love with herself and her intellectual journey and the whole thing of being young and discovering love etc. I can post it to you if you like, (and promise not to... drop it into a puddle or something!)

LOL really! That's always depressing when you hear stuff like that about the author. I hate it when they make ranty anti-fanfic statements as well. Like Gabaldon recently.
