I like sending letters and it would give me incentive to use up the box of envelopes and stationary I have. I also don't write with blue or black pen. It's just not how I operate.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone, really. English is my first language, but I`m open to receiving mail from anyone around the world. :) 

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anyone. Out of Canada, international stamps cost less than coffee, and I`m not addicted to coffee, so that won`t be a problem. :) When it comes to sending packages, if we reach that point...we`ll have to discuss it. I am a student, after all.

Interests/hobbies: I get addicted to computer and video games easily. If I'm introduced to a new game I'll probably be hooked within an hour. I really like to be outside, I'll usually go swimming or for a walk. Whenever I'm actually able to drag someone with me I'll go canoing.  I watch quite the variety of movies. I love to randomly doodle.  Musicals are amazing, favorites are Wicked, Rent, and Chicago. I'm horrible at it but i love to cook, I always experiment and it usually comes out as a total failure. I like to watch storms. I'm a dog person. And I procrastinate way too much.

Favorite books: The last book I've gotten is a PostSecret book. I really don't read as much as I should. I mostly read fanfictions. I've gotten to the 4th book of the Harry Potter series though. I also like to read poetry.

How do you identify?: As a bisexual female homo sapien sapien. I'm not as feminine as some--not exactly butch-- but rather somewhat utilitarian.

Interests/hobbies: Adventures! Art! (and academics!)

In the adventures department, I especially enjoy physically demanding and/or slightly dangerous activities (ex: parkour, hiking, climbing, bicycle tours, capoeira, acrobatics, and, recently, dancing). These things keep me grounded in a way: I'm not among the elite in any of them, there isn't any grading system, and it's all so natural, and well, monkey-like. It's sobering and comforting to be reminded that when it comes down to the basics, I'm just a speaking animal, jumping around to keep my sanity, or what's left of it.

There are so many forms of art that pique my interest. I have a strong book louse streak in me (many a time have I spent an entire day reading a book from cover to cover), and enjoy writing about events in everyday life--some humorous and others unsettling. Also, drawing and painting have always had a magnetic pull on me. (However, the peak of my drawing career seems to have been somewhere around age ten.) Music is one art I am just beginning to discover-- I've been learning ukulele and the Korean drum, changoo. And singing. I adore people with beautiful voices.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: A letter discussing my penpal's most recent philosophical discovery, a recommendation for a great film they just watched, some photos from a recent trip they took to an awesome place in their city, a thin used book of poetry or a play, a mix cd or a written playlist, and a badass recipe for vegan chocolate cake.

Anything else you'd like to add?: I tend to get wordy and romantic in my letters, so if you get really irritated by that sort of thing, I'm probably not for you. I have this undying fondness for the way people who were close used to write letters to each other, with their whole heart. I try not to be pretentious, but lord knows it slips out sometimes. I can occasionally go completely the other way and start calling people "man" and "dude", but it doesn't happen much in writing. I also have fibromyalgia and CFIDS, and while I don't generally whine about it in my letters, it can make quick replies impossible sometimes, so you may have to put up with a short letter with a pressed flower, or something like that from time to time. I also have panic disorder, but that doesn't really relate to my letter-writing unless you are a fellow sufferer who would like someone to talk to about it.

Also my handwriting is terrible, but I do it anyway.

Interests/hobbies: There're really too many to name. I love the outdoors, being outside, and gardening, though I'm not too fond of being 'active' (I never did too well with the hiking and fitness jargon). Spending my nights awake and bored on the internet, reading about science-y, geek-y things and general news is the main hobby; I'm always at my computer! I love doing things with my hands, and they need to be kept busy; drawing, writing, knitting, and video game playing help with that greatly. Of course I love music and movies as well! If it sounds fun, it's probably one of my hobbies or interests, really.

Favourite Books: I pick up a lot of random books, but I'm very picky with what I read! And most of the time, I don't remember the authors. But from what I can remember; Every Chuck Palahniuk book, Don't Stop The Carnival, Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach, Alfred Hitchcock collections, H.P. Favourite music: A lot of strange, strange indie stuff. I'm not elitist and snobby about my music, but the undiscovered and underground usually has the best sound! A quick list, though; Man Man; Mother Mother; Dropkick Murphys; Gorillaz; Laura Marling; Murder by Death; The Minus 5; Neon Horse, a ton of soundtracks from both movies and video games, and all the music my mother brought my up on.

What would you like to send/receive?: Snail mail, most definitely! I'm very shy over email and IM, but writing lets me be more myself. But I love letters, small trinkets, bits of shared life, art and things like that.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone! Unfortunately the only languages I know are English and sign language, and only one of those I can read and write, haha! But I do love the way different languages look, and would love to learn them. Maybe getting a letter in a different language, along with a translation would be nice? But anything is fine!

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: All of them! I'm willing to spend the few extra cents, just to be able to say that I've sent letters to different countries!

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Drugs, death threats, small rodents, dead things. Those would make me very unhappy, I think. (Except the small rodents, I love them, but my cat loves to eat them just as much.)

What would be in your dream letter or package?: Some small thing somebody found on the ground that day, a nice letter, pictures, movie recommendations, new music, a good book, a hug, an invitation for tea or coffee, art of some kind. Everything is fascinating when it's sent in the mail! Except bills and junk mail, of course.

Anything else you'd like to add?: I'm in college and living with my mother for summer term, but once I get to the dorms my mailing address will have to change. If there's anyone that wants to exchange letters, I'll be sure to forward the new address along! This system I've concocted is probably totally flawed but lets try it anyway and see how it goes. Apologies to everyone who has already posted sans-tags - feel free to repost if you wish.

Why I'm posting this: Well I guess you can say that I'm just messing around here. I practically have no idea what's going on. I just started LJ about 20 minutes ago. I saw where this has a lot of posts by lesbians. I'm starting to get where the name "QueerMail" came from. I'm, in fact, not a lesbian or bisexual, although I have nothing against them. Or any gay, for that matter. I just saw this community and added it. Do I tell about myself up here? I will anyway.

Music: I love music. It runs through my veins. My mom can't carry a tune to save a life, but my dad has the voice of an angel. He got me into listening to mainly Indie and Singer-Songwriter stuff. When it comes to artists most people have heard of, I like Coldplay, Paramore, and The Goo Goo Dolls. Lady Gaga holds a place in my favorites, too. I sing and place a little drums (not very well) but I still enjoy it.

Hobbies: Most of my life is summed up in two words; reading and writing. I just got into reading about two years ago and my personal library consists of almost 200 books. I have exactly four journals hidden in my room. Writing is my therapy. I'm pretty sure I'd go insane if I had all my problems bottled up. When I'm not reading or writing, I'm at the softball field. I'm not the most social person, so playing softball is the most social thing I do. I'm our teams pitcher. You could say I enjoy it. It keeps me in shape.

Interests/hobbies: Well I'd like to say I read a lot, but it's really an on/off thing. I have a dog named Buffy (after the slayer), two cockateils named Fred and Little Chicken (temporary names until their full colours come in), a horse named Clay and I used to have three ferrets named Kali, Sox, and Peanut. My horse lives at my aunt's barn along with two other horses that I also love, named Blue and Sunny. I spend most of my time riding, both my horse and horses at a lesson barn where I ride (for now). The other percent of my free time I spend looking at universities online (as I'll be graduating from high school this upcoming year). At school I'm a member of the Choir, the Drama Club, and the Gay-Straight Alliance. I also like piercings and tattoos. While I have no tattoos currently, and I'm not seriously planning any, I have 15 ear piercings:: 8 lobe piercings (two of which are size 2 gauges), 3 cartilage piercings on my left ear, an industrial bar (which I count as 2 holes) on my right, and a rook on my left. And, I guess that's all.

Favourite books: Picking out favourite books would be tough, so instead, my favourite author without doubt is Ellen Hopkins.

Favourite films: Pretty much anything. I watch movies whenever I'm bored so I've really seen a lot. My favourites include: the Resident Evil series (because Mila Jovovich is wonderful), Doomsday, Love Actually, anything with Kiera Knightly, and Superbad. I don't like mindless comedies though, for the most part.

Favourite music: A Day To Remember, The Used, Alkaline Trio, and Say Anything are my all-time favourites. I do listen to pretty much any genre though.

What would you like to send/receive?: Anything really. I'd love to eventually be able to talk via snail-mail, but I'd like to start out with emails really.

How do you identify?: Bisexual; strictly speaking I'm female, but I'm very androgynous.  That goes for both characteristics and looks; I'm frequently mistaken for a boy at work despite my nametag!  I don't mind, though.  I think I'd make an alright boy.

Interests/hobbies: Writing.  Writing, writing, writing.  Writing.  Did I mention writing?  I think reading naturally comes alongside that, but for introduction's sake, I'll also openly save that I love reading, too.  I'm starting university for the first time in September - terrified but very excited - and I'll be studying English Literature and Creative Writing against the original wishes of my parents; for saying I'm fairly meek, that says a lot about how much I wanted to do it!  At the risk of sounding boring, I also love roleplaying - both forum-based and over IM.  What else can I say?  I'm a casual gamer and Photoshopper, and I love, love, love films.  This also means I have hefty prejudices against rom-coms.

Favourite books: There are far too many to list them all, so I'll stick to my current top six.  In no particular order, I'll say The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, The Beach by Alex Garland, the unexpectedly brilliant The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, even if it does star a character called 'Katniss', the wonderfully original The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist - the Hollywood adaption of which I am quite honestly dreading, seeing as the Swedish version was so beautiful - and the Harry Potter series - alright, so sue me.  If it's not your cup of tea, don't worry; I promise I won't shove it down your throat.  Similarly, I can't stand Twilight or any related thing, but so long as you're not intending on trying to convert me I won't hold it against you.  Everyone's happy!  I'm currently reading The Line of Beauty by Alan Hollinghurst and Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, and am always looking for recommendations.  I've just realised I left out the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and I am very aware that I deserve some sort of great pain to make up for this.

Favourite films: Again, this is really hard to condense.  I'll give you another top six - again, it's definitely not comprehensive, and I've probably forgotten something I absolutely adore.  Actually, can I give you a top seven instead?  Fight Club, Milk, Kill Bill, V for Vendetta, Edward Scissorhands, the Matrix trilogy and Loving Annabelle.  My top three recent disappointments have been the Harry Potter films - to which I blow a hideously childish raspberry - Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Slumdog Millionaire, which I still believe is completely overrated compared to the book, which I think is a masterpiece.  I think Danny Boyle swings between genius and madness; I thought 28 Days Later was predictable, uninteresting and tired claptrap and he wasted such a great opportunity with his adaption of The Beach, but then again Trainspotting was so good despite some deviance from the book.

I'm really looking forward to Inception.  Chris Nolan is amazing, and Leonardo di Caprio is one of my favourite actors; if he's pulled this concept off right, I think Inception could be as good as The Matrix.  I don't think I'm alone in allowing my inner child to gleefully anticipate Toy Story 3 and Shrek.  Finally, am I allowed two Do-Not-Wants?  Avatar 2 and Eclipse.  The former should remain as a stand-alone film and forget about profit; the latter just needs to be burned.  Now.

Favourite music: I used to love music a lot more than I do now.  I'm not going to pretend my tastes are indie, because they're obviously not - I worship Gaga - but I don't like most of the stuff I hear on the charts.  I'm at least a little bit more selective than that.  Most of my favourites start with K - Kasabian, the Killers, Katy Perry.  One of my pet hates is when people just say they like The Beatles because they think they have to or because they think it's kitsch to, because I genuinely adore their music - especially the earlier stuff, but I'm not fussy.  What else can I say?  I often use music to inspire my writing, so I also quite like classical music because it's interpretable.  That said, I'm also inspired by Gaga.  Go figure.  I think I should probably have been born in the late forties or late sixties so I could have properly lived through the sixties or the eighties respectively.  My lovely mum tells me my dress sense is very Mary Quant, and I know I'd love the androgyny of the eighties - seeing as music and image are so closely linked, I think I'm allowed to mention that in this section.  Right?

Favourite TV: I'm adding this section because I think it's important for me to be able to mention Doctor Who.  I love it.  The season finale will be airing over here in Blightly very soon, and I'm pretty excited.  I'd call Big Brother a guilty pleasure if I was at all guilty about it - I know most people think it's poppycock now, but I genuinely love it.  I'll take the opportunity to complain about how heartbreaking Shabby/Caoimhe and Mario/Ben are and wave the Mario-shaped winner flag at you just in case you know what I'm talking about.  When Ashes to Ashes finished I cried shamelessly for a very long time - actually, that's one thing you definitely need to know about me.  I'm a crier.  It's not that I'm oversensitive where I'm concerned; it's just that lots of things just seem to break my heart.  You'd be pretty hard-pressed to make me cry by insulting me, but put that picture of the puppy sitting on the road in the rain in front of me and I'll howl.  OK, back on track now.  I love Bones and I'm absolutely obsessed with Miami Ink, though personally I doubt if I'd ever get a tattoo.  They're beautiful and I'm not!  Last but most certainly not least - GLEE.  GLEE.  GLEE.

What would you like to send/receive?: I love snail mail.  It absolutely makes my day getting anything through the post.  If you'd like to get to know each other over IM or e-mail before we swap addresses first, though, that's absolutely fine with me.  I would like it to lead to phsyical letters, though, if at all possible.  I'd love to swap presents - homemade, bought, drawings, love.  Anything.

How do you identify?: I'm bisexual, but I've never really dated anyone seriously. Looking forward to the opportunities in college. Gender-wise I am female, but sometimes I feel kind of fluid. There's more to gender than biology and what society says there should be.

Interests/hobbies: I love to read, write, and watch television. This summer I'm doing a lot of traveling (Seattle, Vancouver, London, and DC), which is pretty awesome, I think. I am into some fandoms, though not very actively. I really love to write. Specifically, I write original slash fiction and it takes up a lot of my free time, because it's something that I'm very passionate about. I don't roleplay or cosplay, but I am sort of into steampunk. like music, baking and xkcd comics.

Favourite books: Right now I'm on a Neil Gaiman stretch. Everyone in the world should read American Gods, I think. I love Hamlet and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, too. Mercedes Lackey and Lynn Flewelling have great fantasy with queer themes. Young adult books are my guilty pleasure- The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Boy meets Boy, Far from Xanadu. I liked Harry Potter pretty well, read the first couple of Twilight books before I lost interest and the hype started, but I've yet to read The Lord of The Rings- I know, I know. It's a travesty.

Favourite films: The Prestige and Fight Club are classics, and I adore the X-Men films, Serenity, and The Princess Bride. I also love musicals- like RENT, West Side Story, and Newsies.

Favourite music: My musical tastes are kind of eclectic. I like a lot of different genres, but don't really keep up with what the charts say is popular. OK-Go, Motion City Soundtrack, Streetlight Manifesto, Jack's Mannequin, Rise Against- plus bits and pieces of whatever else comes into my collection. I'm open minded.

What would you like to send/receive?:  I'd like to email/im for a while and then once I get to know you/am in DC permanently I would adore to getting real snail mail. How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Officially, I have no sexuality. I took a vow of celibacy 8 months ago. But prior to that I was pretty flagrantly bisexual. And by that, I mean I like what I like, and what ever's between the legs is fine by me. I'm male, but the inner gay man likes to escape now and again. Actually I am FTM, but far enough along in my transition, I rarely have to say that outloud any more.

Interests/hobbies: Dogs and Horses. I make a living training dogs and horses. So they take up the primary amount of my focus. I studied English (creative writing) in college, and fancy myself something of an author, but hesitate on being published because I am an oddity like that. I live and breathe music, including performing at a bar on sunday nights. I read a lot. I am into biking, swimming, hiking, camping, and any sport that could potentially kill me. The X Files (it goes first because it was the single greatest thing to ever grace the airwaves), Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Profiler, Stargate (SG1 and Atlantis), Supernatural, Castle, GLEE, Sliders, Torchwood, Burn Notice, Pysch, the Big Bang Theory, Star Trek (TNG mostly, but I watched them all)...thank the gods for DVR, right?

Favourite music: I'll just list a couple, because when it comes to music I have only one philosophy: if it's good, I'll listen to it. But my favorites include: Bad Religion, Green Day, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin (best bad ever), The Beatles, the Doors, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Garth Brooks, Broadway Classics (especially music from Miss Saigon and Les Mis). Sex Pistoles, The Ramones, and Hair bands. Mostly it's classic rock, with a sprinkling of whatever the hell else I find during a youtube crawl.

What would you like to send/receive?: Anything really. I'm open to all kinds of new expierences and things. Though I gotta say someone who could turn me on to new books and music and movies would be awesome. And I like letters. There is something very satisfying about opening the mailbox and there being a letter there (amongst all the bills) just for you. I like hand written, or typed, and I say that with the notion in mind that my handwriting is virtually a foreign language. So if you go that route with me, consider this fair warning.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: Hand written letter, or letters depending on how often one is sending such things. Something that would have taken time to construct, and shows thought and effort. And mix CDs of new music from all over the place. Maybe other writer's works just for fun.

Anything else you'd like to add?: Not really. I'm pretty approachble, or I try to be. I think I'm fun, or at least I'm told I am by those who insist on calling me friend. How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Well, I consider myself a lesbian. But according to many adults I'm still a young and confused teenager. I agree that I'm still naive about some things and I have 10 more years to go before my brain is fully developed to that of an adult (only 3 more years until I'm recognized by society though).  But I know enough to realize that I can't be straight. I have no interest in boys so I don't really think I'm bisexual. But in the future, who knows? You can't help who you fall for.

Interests/hobbies: I like reading, specifically about psychology or neurological disorders. I also like to read fanfiction and watch anime. I crochet and have fun making miniature food out of polymer clay. I love dancing flamenco and even belly dancing sometimes.
I still have my old flute in my closet somewhere. I play it...once in a while. I have a lot of different interests ranging from architecture to zoology but I like learning about anything. I enjoy cooking but baking is where my real passion is. I like tasting foods from different cultures and trying new recipes. I also really like to talk. So even though I writing isn't one of my strong points, whatever I do write comes out ten times longer than it should.

Favourite books: My favorite author is Oscar Wilde. I like most of the classics they make you read in school like Hamlet and Wuthering Heights. But my favorite book of all time will always be The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. I think studies of the mind and social behavior are interesting. I like Sigmund Freud’s books. I've only read one, The Interpretation of Dreams, and some of his views on homosexuality which I for the most part agree with.

Favourite music:  I like the same music everyone else does but I prefer music in languages I can't understand. I love belly dancing music~ Techno is good too. Right now I'm listening to the safety dance by the Carpenters if that tells you anything.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere, really. I particularly love Americans, Aussies and Canadians though <3 Oooh, and anyone who speaks Spanish - I'm going to be starting a degree in it in September so would love to be able to have someone to practice with!

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Nothing particularly lewd, please, as I still live with my parents!

What would be in your dream letter or package?: Oh, I don't know. Lots of glitter, and some pretty art :) And a mix-tape! I wouldn't say no to a plane ticket for somewhere exotic, either :P
