How do you identify?: I'm a very bi-curious female. I'm attracted to toned guys but I really like looking at women, too :) They're just so much easier for me to relax around.

Interests/hobbies: Well, I'm really big in art and grammar. (Yes, one of those people who will correct your incorrect forms of 'your' and 'there' until it drives you mad.) I LOVE to write, but I generally find myself lacking the discipline to continue things I start. I'm a big fan of Japanese culture and all that goes along with it. Except fish. :| I really, really don't like fish. I'm also a big fan of learning about other culture in general and I'd really love to travel the world someday. Also, I'm a video game nerd, so be prepared for me to swoon over the new graphics of some new games that are coming out.

Favourite books: Dorian Gray, Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, Stephen King, ANYTHING by Oscar Wilde ♥, Bleach, Pendragon (I know, it's childish, but I really like it it!) and a bunch of older classics like The Inferno, The Odyssey, Gilgamesh and more recently the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe.

Favourite films: I adore Disney movies since I grew up watching them, but I'm afraid I don't really watch them much anymore. I usually stick mostly to horror, since it's what I like best. Horror and suspence thrillers are definitely what I fall asleep to most nights.

Favourite music: Ah! Every kind, really. Even some rock! Although mostly I listen to stuff like Beyonce, Gaga (I knoooooow... @_@), Eminem and Rihanna. My true passion, however, is musicals. I adore musicals with my favorite being Les Miserables, which I will FINALLY get a chance to see next year, since my family bought me season tickets as a present.

What would you like to send/receive?: I'd really really like to start getting emails. I have this weird addiction to talking to people and lately, with my friends being busy when I'm not and vise-versa, I've had very little social contact with them or anyone. If that goes well, then I have no problems writing snail mail, after I get to know the person.

How do you identify?: I'm a girl, surprise! Personally, I don't like labeling myself. I believe that love transcends gender, but my friend is pretty insistent that I'm bisexual. There's beauty in both genders. I'd say I'm a little more partial towards men, but sometimes I think I'm turning asexual.

Interests/hobbies:   The typical things. Reading. Writing. Drawing. Mostly drawing and reading. Listening to music. Songwriting, but I suck so bad at it I just give up after a verse or two. I. Love. Cars. Yet I know next to nothing about them. All I can do is name model and company if I see one. Photography, traveling. Forensics, Anthropology. A lot of things.

Favourite books:  ...I have no idea. Wow. Partial to Sherlock Holmes, but it's been a while since I picked one up. I guess I usually go for classics. When I was younger I visited the library every week, but now I have discovered the joys of online fiction. I go through 3 stories a day now. I'd read more, but it's really hard finding decent writing sometimes. Especially without idiotic plots and cliche scenes/characters. I like the whole Harry Potter-verse, but I really dislike how Rowling ended the series. A lot. I'm currently reading The Metamorphoses, but it's taking a while to get through it 'cause I keep falling asleep.

Favourite music: I don't listen to music based on bands/artists, except on rare occasions. I do like Muse a lot. I'm really into just anything. Except screamo and music like Green Day. I have no idea why, but it just grates on my nerves.

What would you like to send/receive?: I like sending letters, about anything. As long as it's not, uh, explicit. I do make a lot of horrible, perverted jokes with my friends non-stop and I curse every other word, but not so much in writing.

I adore hand written letters, but email is just as good. And fast. And free. But just not as fun or thoughtful. We need to appreciate the physical mailbox more. Although I'd prefer only going postal after getting to know you a bit through emails.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?:  Uh...food. Suspicious packages. Animals. Please, no thank you. I wouldn't object to a very cute kitten, but I'm afraid I can't keep it. No nudie magazines; don't need to be scarred for life.

Age: Seventeen.

Location: Currently Northern Virginia, but due to college, soon to be the middle of Iowa. Which should be an interesting adjustment, to say the least.

How do you identify?: Queer? Cisgendered lesbian female would probably be the closest, but I've been known to get raging crushes on genderqueer guys (who still identify/represent as male), so - I don't really know. But I'm more or less okay with that.

Interests / hobbies: I'm an art and humanities person. I read lot - fanfiction, poetry, original fiction, nonfiction, etc. - and I write, mostly poetry and fanfiction, though I'm currently having a severe case of writer's block. Lately I've also been trying my hand at visual arts, as well as theatre. I sing, and I'm thinking of going professional if I can widen my range to what it used to be. The DC area has a fantastic theatre scene, so I go to plays and films when I can afford them, and museums when I can't. I people-watch, hang with friends, volunteer, listen to music, debate, daydream, design makeup for my school's theatre department, explore the city, make funny faces in the mirror, and take long walks, though not on the beach (I can't stand sand). I don't really like to seriously label myself or others. Location: For the next week and a half, Oslo, Norway. I've been living here since January finishing up my bachelor's degree for my home university in the states. In July I'll be going to England, France and Luxembourg to visit family, then it's back home to Alabama in the United States. :)

How do you identify?: Bisexual.

Interests/hobbies: Traveling. Oh, am I ever so addicted to traveling. @.@ But aside from that, I've got a budding passion for cooking, in addition to my seasoned hobbies of role-playing games, Renaissance festivals, and other nerdy things. I'm also a Doctor Who fanatic, and David Tennant will forever be my favorite Doctor.

Favourite books: I'm a fantasy book nut, so I'll read anything high fantasy if I think it's got a strong narrative. But I'm also a sucker for 19th and early-to-mid 20th century literature; I love Middlemarch, The Charioteer, and Maurice for example. ...and the Sagas of Icelanders, which is part of what dragged me across the pond to Norway in the first place. :)

What would you like to send/receive?: I love letters. I guess that's pretty basic stuff, isn't it, but I really do love receiving just letters. I'm flexible, though, so whatever you feel like sharing is okay with me. :)

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anyone who feels like sharing, really :) Though I guess I'm really interested in getting to know other Southern queers, since we're a bit hard to track down out in the open. However, since I'll be moving to England in 2011, I wouldn't mind receiving letters from Britons as well. I'm generally all right with sending packages across the pond; doesn't bother me much.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: There are no limits to this one. :D As I said, I'm addicted to traveling, so I'm okay with receiving stuff from lots of places around the world.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Nothing so large that it requires me to go down to the post office to pick it up.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: A personalized letter with some photographs, maybe a keychain or something trinket-y from where you live. :)

Anything else you'd like to add?: I'm a pretty content and happy Christian (of the Episcopal/Anglo-Catholic variety), and always love talking about faith with other Christians, or people who are curious about what I believe. I'm contemplating entering seminary school in a few years in order to seek ordination as a priest, so if there's anyone out there who has gone through something similar, I definitely want to hear from you.

How do you identify?: Dyke. Lesbian. Queer. Butch. Baptised. Quite frankly, long-term monogamy seems to make labels seem considerably less important, and I despise the kind of individualism that seems to boil everything down to clothes and haircut.

Interests/hobbies: Theology, camping with a tent, as opposed to with glitter(!) (when I can), cycling (occasionally), learning Latin (sometimes), exploring London (and wandering around in a non-purposeful manner), fiddling about on computers (all the time), hyperlocal blogging (frequently), cooking with and for friends (sometimes), books (social theory, theology, history), civic engagement (as in, attending meetings with random strangers) and board games (if I ever find people to play with again). I also have a strange addiction to the TV programme, House and I love the Flintstones. I really don't like these lists because I'm interested in nearly everything (with the exception of fan-fiction) and I can never remember all of the hobbies I've dabbled in.

Favourite books: Non-fiction. At the moment, I'm trying to read up on the British monarchy, but I probably have 40 books on the bedside table at any one time. I keep trying to read Karl Barth. I've got Nietzsche on the go, and I just picked up a stack of London history books. I'm a huge Stanley Hauerwas fan. I have been known to read Terry Pratchett, but I steer clear of non-fiction as it's difficult to put down.

Favourite films: I'm not really a film person. Or at least, I can't think up films that I like on demand to answer quiz questions. But I think I prefer the films that would fall into the bracket "alternative".

Favourite music: Mary Gauthier, Phranc, Andrea Gibson (is that music?), lots of other lesbian artists and some classical tracks.

What would you like to send/receive?: Letters. Hand-written ones or typed ones. I'm flexible. Postcards of unusual places or things. It would be quite fun doing a "find the weirdest postcard" swap.

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: I don't mind. It would probably be easier to correspond in English, but I could probably learn Yoruba if you really wanted to try something different. I'd prefer to correspond with other lesbians, but don't really mind that much.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: I quite like the idea of writing letters to somebody else in London or the UK because of the strangeness of sending letters when one could just meet up. It could be a sort of counter-technology, counter-culture rebellion. But I'd also like to visit San Francisco sometime, so writing to somebody there would be great. Also, if there are any African readers here, I'd be really interested in corresponding with a queer African, but I realise that that is more unlikely. However, if you're from some other country, and you think we'd get on due to your fascination with the strange and unusual, that's fine too.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: Well, live insects wouldn't be top on my list, but I'm flexible.

What would be in your dream letter or package?: I'd be happy to receive some unusual postcards, a letter from somebody who likes to think, a postable object that you consider beautiful, a photograph you took that captured something that disappeared a moment later...

Anything else you'd like to add?: I'm a queer Christian (Anglo-catholic) so would be happy to write to other queer religious folk (of any faith). Corresponding with a queer Muslim would be interesting. On the other hand, I've no issue with writing to atheists and agnostics of any stripes. I've lived happily with my partner for nearly 5 years, so if you're looking to meet somebody for a relationship, I'm probably not the person you'd want to write to.

Favourite books: I feel bad for having to say this, but I'm not much of a reader. Harry Potter will forever have a place in my heart. Call it cliche, but I also really like books that focus on LGBT stuff and women's issues or gender studies. It's fascinating.

How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Well, I'm female (despite my love of dressing up in suits), but I label myself as bisexual to anyone who asks, although I feel that one should see gender as fluid and love who you love. For this reason I support polyamory as well, although I don't practice it (maybe if the time comes.) I've known all this since I was 11, so I'm pretty certain of myself and open with it. Sexual openess can happen when your first understanding of sex comes from reading Middlesex (great book.)

Interests/hobbies: Puzzles (mysteries are great,) drawing, creative writing, I love music and singing, but I gave up doing it when I couldn't go on stage (I'm half blind, try covering one eye and looking through a toilet paper roll with the other and you've go me,) being an internet addict, languages: native English, Spanish and Japanese, although I'd like German, Russian and Cambodian, watching British Comedy, being a sci-fi nerd (Star Trek TOS and Doctor Who are my forte and reading I love Ray Bradbury and Phillip K Dick,) word/name etymology, I'm obsessed with Cambodia seeing as it is my home country, gay rights, greek myths, Stephen Fry and/or Hugh Laurie, learning new things, SCIENCE! Interests/hobbies: Fandom. I love fanfiction and fanvids, and I RP on LJ as well. I'm obsessed with movies, and books, particularly sci-fi and fantasy. I love talking about them, discussing plots, analysing characters, all those things obsessed fans do! Despite living in the city for the past few years, I prefer the countryside, I like being able to walk about in the fields, go cycling, outdoorsy sorts of things. I like sketching, writing, singing and I play piano... occasionally! I enjoy travelling, I've been a bunch of places, and look forward to visiting more. I love languages, not just learning them, but looking at their history, how they interact and influence each other.

Favourite books: I can never pick just a few, but LotR has to be up here. I used to be massively into those thick fantasy books: Wheel of Time (though it is a terrible series really) Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy, Trudi Canavan, etc. But recently I've been reading more fanfiction than profic. I like vampire books (no, not Twilight, don't even think it.) I read more fantasy than sci-fi, abut I like fiction as well: Toni Morrison, and Barbara Kingsolver, Margarett Atwood, and historical novels, Frankly I'll read anything. I love reading. It has to be reeeeeeeeally boring for me to drop it. In terms of Queer lit, I've read Rubyfruit and Oranges, which were interesting. But I read Pages For You recently by Sylvia Brownrigg, and that was just fantastic.

Favourite films: All of them? XD I loved Shutter Island. Saw the Escapist recently, fantastic movie. Changeling was great, anything by Clint Eastwood, Terry Gilliam (12 Monkeys/Brazil especially), Burton's earlier stuff. I like thrillers with a twist: The Usual Suspects, Memento, Identity. I am PSYCHED about Inception, it looks AWESOME! I watch a lot of American TV, True Blood, SGU, LotS, BSG, anything by Joss Whedon. I love brit comedy, Green Wing, Goodness Gracious Me, Black Books. If you read my LJ you'll get an idea of the kind of things I watch, I squee and rant about shows pretty regularly.

Favourite music: I have a very eclectic taste, I'll listen to pretty much anything. And I listen it to death, then I get bored and move on. Interests/hobbies: Wow, I have a lot of these. I guess I would say I'm a writer, but I also act a little. I have a webseries about "queer" Asian women living in Los Angeles, called That's What She Said... and this project comes out of my friends' and my production company, Pearl Girls Productions.

Favourite books: I read a lot of plays. The most recent author I've gotten into is Jhumpa Lahiri, and I'm starting to read The Namesake. There's also... Interests/hobbies: I am a web and graphic designer and can honestly say that I get mega nerdgasms from coding a kick-ass piece of CSS. My goodness, I guess I'm not sure where to start. In no certain order of importance: art, drawing/sketching, writing, photography, my spoiled rotten furkids (a.k.a. my dogs), watching thunderstorms, anime, instrumental music, blah blah.. I guess I could go on and on, but I feel like a bad myspace page listing what I'm interested in so let's try it a different way.  I am happiest when I'm outdoors and surrounded by nature.  As much as I don't like creepy crawly bugs, if spiders and mosquitos didn't exist I would rarely be inside - despite how much I adore the innocence of Spongebob.  I have always loved animals, my mom would say since birth, and it's quite impossible for me to pick a favorite.  Canines, both wild and domestic, and owls are just two near the top.  I'm an avid photographer, and my absolute favorite time of any day is the "golden hour" - the hour before the sun fully sets and dusk settles in.  I will become a professional author in time, and those closest to me would say that was an almost uncannily optimistic statement for me to say.  I'm not exactly pessimistic, just realistic!  I do like being silly and spontaneous, although I believe on a daily basis I'm not nearly as exciting as I'd like to be.  I enjoy random dancing when no ones watching, and driving long distances with the windows down and feeling the wind in my hair.  Although I enjoy to go new places and meet people, I sometimes find it difficult because I am a shy, more introvert person until you get to know me.  I am not an open book, and never want to be.  ^_^

I'm sure I'd have more here if I had the time.  I don't even know what my favorites are anymore, but I know I will always love Tolkien.  He is made of win.  At the risk of sounding egotistical, I believe the books-in-progress I am co-authoring are pretty awesome too.

I am a sucker for old horror movies - zombies, pet cemetaries, vampires, yes please!  My childhood is going to make me mention The Lion King, Robin Hood, and the Studio Ghibli films.  Not surprising, I adore The Lord of the Rings films, Tristan and Isolde, Gladiator - almost any movie that is medieval, fantasy/fiction, bad horror, and 80's-early 90's comedy.  2D animation rocks my socks off.  I don't like much of the recent comedy or romance films that have come out in the past few years, but it really takes a lot for me not to like a movie.  Heck, anyone seen Tremors?  If I like that movie, I can pretty much like anything. :3

Favourite music:
I listen to a lot of instrumental and soundtracks.  Gimme a sad violin or piano and I'll be happy for hours.  I can't stand listening to the radio, and other than instrumental, I have a pretty wide range of music interest.  From oldies like Simon and Garfunkel, 90's rock, Coldplay, 30 Seconds To Mars, and Lady Gaga.  I'm not a huge jazz fan and I don't like rap/hip hop really at all.  Chances are I haven't heard the newest song on the charts.  I find music on my own terms and don't follow the trends much.

What would you like to send/receive?:
I would say I prefer actual written letters, but I'm afraid my handwriting isn't the most legible.  Some people have no problem, but others think I'm writing in gibberish.  Email is just fine, but there's something about a hand written letter.. don't know what it is.  An amazing friend of mine has send me care packages in the past and of course, I've been a bad friend and still haven't sent mine yet (still missing one thing before it gets mailed), if we wrote back and forth for a little while, I'd be up for that. :)

How do you identify?: (sexuality/gender) Queer female. Sometimes saying "bisexual" is easier for people to understand, but I really like the term "Queer." It seems more suiting to me, especially as I start to realize more and more that sexuality and gender encompass way more than than the male/female duality. I am also an outspoken ally to many LGBTQ friends.

Interests/hobbies: I am an Artist with a capital A -- it is awesome to really own that label for myself. I am sort of a homebody and a dork, but I also enjoy some good socializing once in a while. I need to go to more art openings.

Favourite books: I LOVE books and have ever since I was a wee one. A book I always go back to is Jeffrey Eugenides' Middlesex, which is so fabulous. I love short stories and have a subscription to One Story.

Favourite films: This is also a tough one, since I love movies of all kinds. We're big into horror at my house; zombies are good. But I also love films like Wings of Desire, David Lynch, Werner Herzog, Wes Anderson, Dario Argento... and on and on...

Favourite music: These are all so hard to answer. I like a full range of music, for real. Everything from the Flying Burrito Brothers to Curtis Mayfield to Arcade Fire to classical (especially early 20th century) and classic jazz... even some things in genres that people seem to hate like rap, country, and metal. It just depends on what it is and my particular mood or circumstances.

What would you like to send/receive?: I think I will say mostly emails, although I do love snail mail and writing letters. It's just that I know myself and that I would be way more regular with emails. So, someone who likes both would be ideal. I don't mind if a snail mail letter is typewritten, either -- my handwriting has gone to crap in the past ten years!

Who would you like to send and receive mail from?: Anybody, age or state of being doesn't matter at all.

What countries would you like to receive mail from and send to?: Anywhere at all, near or far.

Anything that you would particularly NOT like to receive?: (eg. "food/candy with nuts") We'll start with email, so chain letters of any kind. I hate them!

Anything else you'd like to add?: I have been in a straight, monogamous relationship for the past 10 years (much to my surprise!), so I am not looking for romance. How do you identify?: Female and queer :) I usually say I'm bisexual, but I guess pansexual would be a more adequate name, I just like boys and girls and especially girly boys and boyish girls!

Interests/hobbies: I'm an English student and hopeless Anglophile so anything having to do with the wonderful United Kingdom. Music is the most important thing in the world to me, so going to gigs, listening to music and obsessing over artists in online fandom are amongst my favourite activities, and I'm the 'manager' for the amazing band my brother plays bass in. I'm also very crafty and creative and quite a skilled seamstress (I used to be in fashion school) so I make a lot of clothes and bags and dolls and I knit/crochet. I love the 60s and 70s, the music, the fashion, the culture... I was definitely born a few decades too late! I love dressing up and I guess my sense of fashion is pretty out there, I attempt to dress like Vince Noir of Mighty Boosh meets Marc Bolan meets Adam Lambert meets Jimmy Page with some skirts thrown in :D I also love to write, I hope I'll get to publish a novel at some point in my life :) I'm a sucker for beautiful things, colours and glitters. And I talk about gay rights a lot, homophobia pisses me off like woah.

Favourite books: The obligatory English literature, I love Jane Austin and the Bronte sisters and Oscar Wilde especially ♥ I also love reading (auto)biographies from rockstars, and I adooore Pamela des Barres books about her life as a groupie. I also like a lot of Dutch literature that most of you won't know (Jan Wolkers, Gerard Reve, Herman Brusselmans) And of course Harry Potter!

Favourite films: Almost Famous, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Velvet Goldmine, Chocolat, Edward Scissorhands, School of rock, Nightmare before Christmas, This is Spinal Tap, Moulin Rouge, Alice in Wonderland, Brokeback Mountain, Benny & Joon, The Commitments, Oh brother where art thou, Sweeney Todd, Born to Boogie, The song remains the same, The Shining, Tommy... basically anything having to do with music, anything psychedelic and anything by Tim Burton!

Favourite music: I'm very passionate about music and talk about it A LOT and I can't help but divide my favourites it into categories and lists (I'm like those lads in High Fidelity) but I'll just start, I loooove classic rock like Led Zeppelin, The Who, T.rex, The Sweet, Deep Purple, Bowie, Queen, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Slade, CCR, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Guns n Roses and so on... I loooove The Darkness and they mean a LOT to me. Also: Stone Gods, The Answer, Airbourne, Heavens Basement, Hot Leg, HIM, Paolo Nutini, Mika, Scissor Sisters, Steel Panther, The Ark, Negative, Jann Wilde... and last but not least I've been WAY obsessed with Adam Lambert lately, I adore him and think he's an absolute genius.

I'm not terribly good with labels; until I asked someone more informed than I, I thought pansexual meant you had an attraction to cookware. But since being informed with its correct meaning, I'll have to go with that - the label, not the cookware.. although I do get excited by those non-stick silicone cupcake trays.

Interests/hobbies:
Sewing! I've just recently taken it up - at the moment I tend to put more holes in my fingers than my fabric - but I'm learning. Baking, fangirling (especially slashy things), graphics, tv watching, going to see films, listening to music, geeking out, daydreaming, gaming, graphics, vidding and photography. I also like to blast music and dance around while cleaning.. but everyone does that, right?

I will admit to geeking it up and getting up early to get my copy of the newest Harry Potter book as it was released (no Midnight Release Parties where I live, woe) in years passed. I have a strange and fulfilling love affair with The Hobbit and a little book by Max Barry called Syrup. I prefer to stay on the light side of literature and adore fantasy type things. Oh. And fanfiction. But that's not bound. Some of it ought to be, though.

Ah. I'm going to forget a ton, but I'll give it a go. Anything that leaps forth from Tim Burton's brain, pretty much anything animated (Disney ftw!), Lake Placid, Transformers, D.E.B.S., Beverly Hills Cop, National Treasure, Galaxy Quest, Harry Potter, Bats (and most loltastic creature features), House of Flying Daggers, Evolution, Dragonheart, Kiki's Delivery Service, Bend It Like Beckham, Penelope, The Cat Returns, Pirates of the Caribbean, LORD OF THE RINGS kind of owns a little piece of my soul, Resident Evil, Fast and the Furious, Spirited Away, Casper  and movies where people get stuck in a central location; Dawn of the Dead, Eight Legged Freaks, Legion, etc. Basically I will watch most anything and like a bit of everything --- everything except horror movies that are filmed to look like real footage; Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity, etc.

Again, a little bit of everything; I tend to like at least one song from each artist I hear, I completely fail at putting them into categories though. Label-fail strikes again. Some at random; Hinder, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, Lady Gaga, Disney Soundtracks, Pink, Nickelback, T.a.T.u, Trapt, Within Temptation, The Veronicas, Full Blown Rose, Daughtry, Savage Garden.
